Yellow spell also auto triggers when he comes back from "away" with his ally. His purple only has him away for 2 turns. Fire yellow for 6AP, Fire purple for 7, Wong is away and untouchable for 2 turns and comes back to nuke the target, drop his strikes/protects/heal/AP gain, and deal the reflected wand of watoomb damage.

I doubt if he is away his cd will work so it won't reduce or reflect.
"If it expired or if this ability is used while one exists, Wong casts the chosen spell". I take that as if you use it another time, not if you use the red or purple power.

    A few notes:

    • Mystic Mending offers true healing, not burst healing. The scalar on it is also a bit borked at the second, may not be final.
    • 'Away' status is just that. The character in question isn't on the battlefield. When in this status, they cannot interact with the battle in any way, offensively or defensively. It's hard to deal damage when you're literally in Timbuktu.
    • Special tiles currently refer specifically to SAP tiles, but we may well be updating that. If it does, that'd be post launch
    • Note that Wong is Supernatural himself, so he gets his own Red Passive boost. So when reading powers, take that into account. However, we balanced without this buff in effect, so it's all gravy.

@IceIX What does "away" mean in terms of actual play? This is a new ability that hasn't been introduced so I imagine we can expect more characters with this ability in the future. Does this mean that if the 2 other characters are dead and one is "away", if they don't specifically say they will return early, does that mean the match will be won? Or will the match still go on and have to wait until they return and still have to down them too? What is the difference between away & airborne? Is the difference that away characters will die if teammates are downed while they're on hold unless it expressly states that they will come back?

His red is quite strong. Web and Abyss tiles consider as "special" ...
But in a game full of Chasm, it's quite difficult getting 7 of his strongest color ...
Also with the revival wheel of Hulk and Chasm, kinda a meaningless ability ...

From the video, his red deals 26169 + 11544 per special tile destroyed. There were 3 Abyss tiles and 5 web tiles on the chosen row destroyed.

    Chasm took 120,058 damage.

The math doesn't check out because Wong boosts his own power as by 30%.

There isn't any strike tile at all.
    Destroyed tiles don't deal damage.
    Tiles weren't fortified.

If we were to work backwards.

    100/130*120,058 = 92,352.3
    92352.3 - 26169 = 66, 183.3
Divide it by 11,544 = 5.7 special tiles.

If we exclude 30% boost, it should deal only 118521 damage.

    Someone figure out the calculation.

Not sure why the 120k damage pops up but he actually took 154,060 damage. When you add it all up for some reason it does come out to 154,105.9 but definitely a lot closer.

Why does Wong count web and abyss tiles as special but nobody else does? Or does everybody else count them as special today?

    It's bout right damage ...

    26,169 + (8*11,544) = 118,521

Game shows 120,058 , extra damage likely from sum of individual color tile damage.
I'm not going check every color, only off by 1.5K.
    So 120,058 + 30% (Wong) = 156,075

    Health before casting = 163,491
    Health after casting = 9,413

    163,491 - 156,075 = 8,916

It's not that far off ......
    Once again ... it's meaningless against Chasm+Hulk.

Okoye red behaves the same way iirc.

Icex said at the beginning of the thread that they were gonna change it to "more" than sap tiles but would be post launch. I guess that meant including abyss and web tiles, and post launch meant day of 🤣

It's just weird because the ability still only says "special," but it seems to include stuff that other "special" abilities don't count.

ooo .... if ignoring the game displayed damage.. the math is spot on

    163,491 - 118,521 = 44,970
    118,521 * 0.3 = 35556
    44,970 - 35,556 = 9414

Rounding ... guess color tile damages don't count.

I was relying on the display, so I didn't look at the actual health. Only Wong, as of now, got the special privilege of treating web and Abyss tiles as special tiles. I tried using Mantis and Morbius after watching your videos and their abilities didn't trigger.

Well, that's annoying. "Special" should mean the same thing on every ability.

That's on the game, not on this thread.
Another change along with character tiles and 2 turns for max purple.

    Character tiles are not changed.
    5 protects, 6 strikes at 5 covers.
    Same as in Ice's post.

2 turns Away at 3 cover was already written in this thread.

The only change not written in his in-game description is his treatment of Abyss and webtiles as special tiles.

As for information about his ability in this thread, the trigger of his WoW tile when he returns from away was not mentioned, but the potentiality of Abyss/web tile being treated as special tiles was mentioned.

So what does this all mean for Wong then? He is probably pretty good but that is all?

It's hard to say without having played with him.
This community has shown time and time again that we're very bad at evaluating stuff on paper.
Except for clear duds like Arcade.
