{Update} Upcoming Gameboard Fixes (3/19/21)
Update 4/15/21: Thank you everyone for your feedback and patience as we worked on the fixes to the Gameboard. These fixes are now live in the game via an in-game patch (no need to install a new update). If you don’t see the change during play, you may need to do a hard reset of the game to see the updated board.
We made the following adjustments to the Blue, Purple, and Green Tiles on the Gameboard based on tests and user feedback.
- Blue Tile shifts bluer/cooler
- Purple Tile shifts redder/warmer
- Green Tile shifts yellower/warmer
Two refinements have been made to the enemy turn performance.
- Enemy turn darkens slightly less overall so that players can follow enemy actions more clearly.
- The animation intensity going out from the curve of the tiles and background is softened.
Power ready fill-bars are now easier to identify.
- Animation have been adjusted to subtly increase the brightness and visibility of the ready-state fill-bar visuals.
We hope these improvements improve gameplay for all. We have seen some feedback in regards to some Tiles may appear a bit less saturated and vibrant compared to the original Tiles and that is something we will continue to look at and review in future updates.
Thank you for playing MARVEL Puzzle Quest!
Update: 4/7/21: We want to provide an update to everyone and that is the team is still busy at work on these fixes we shared earlier. While it is still feasible to have them completed this week, it's looking like these fixes will be in place next week. We apologize for the delay but we need just a little bit more time to have everything ready to go. Thank you for your patience!
Hi Everyone –
- Various color tweaks to the tiles to help make gameboard more visible to everyone.
- Make Powers easier to identify when activated.
- Alleviate some of the eye strain on enemy turns for a smoother transition in play.

Now that’s an official update! Thank you for the communication and transparency on how long it might take. Have a fantastic weekend2

Thank you for the update.

@LakeStone thank you for the update. Why is this a 3 week wait? Why can’t this new board go down and the old one come back until you are ready to roll this out again? I am not a programmer so no idea how this process would work. Just curious if that could happen so the people that cannot play or having issues playing can at least keep playing the game they love.15

I hope this actually means "Getting rid completely of the board dimming during the enemy turn" because that's one of the mayor complains that you have been getting across all channels of communication.

3 weeks huh? You broke your own game ("fixing" something that was fine btw) for a good chunk of players but you want us to wait that long? Just wow, I shouldnt be surprised at this point.

Probably this update is linked to the closing of one of the exploits. Someone did mention that after this update, the exploit was closed. If they unroll this update, we could see the thread about exploit being revived again.2

Thanks for letting us know. I hope that some of those 3 weeks involve conversations with accessibility experts - and maybe starting the process of spec'ing out a colorblind settings option? Here's hoping for an accessible release on April 4 or sooner - I miss playing.7

3 weeks (possibly even sooner)? I'll check back then. Struggling with doing dailies and the Alliance event, but at least there's a roadmap./silver linings

Not even mentioning how much we must wait for a fix....
BUT, weren't u able at least to insert a warning when opening the game to warn people that the dimming can cause seizures and epileptic episodes? Or for u is ok to leave the game how is for now? U not afraid in the meantime of being denounced from someone physically damaged from what u did?
And also, why u don't want to give us the possibility to choose what board we want? U afraid to admit u failed? Don't worry, u failed in any case, no need to try cover it. And with this u demonstrate u want to force us to play the game u want, not the game we want. Explain us why, why u don't care about what ur players ask?
"Releasing a new update with any sort of changes to UI/UX is a long and meticulous process that can take many months or more of careful planning to evaluate and to reach launch"
Now tell meWHAT DID U DO DURING THESE MONTHS OF CAREFUL PLANNING?
WHAT? In months u hadn't been able to think that a board like this could hurt people's health? We're u playing cards while projecting? Many things u did in these years weren't very serious, but last update won over everything and I'm not able to find an explanation for what happened, why u did it? Why u don't test? Why u don't ask for consultancies? In so many months of "hard work" no one of u had a little doubt? I really cannot find a rational answer. A little bit of sincerity would have been appreciated, but i doubt will ever happen. Very disappointed, didn't think was possibile u could fall so low8 -
3 weeks is quite a while to wait but as long as it resolves the issues mentioned that’s fine.Would be a nice gesture of goodwill if you compensate the player base in some way2
-
Why not just revert to the old board while you fix the new board.
April 4th is way too long for this terrible board.
Looks like I'm taking a break until then.9 -
In the future, maybe try running any major changes by a player based focus group before releasing them, you'd save everyone a lot of headaches

Good announcement. Glad that the concerns were heard. Take as long as you need to get it right, rushed fixes are rarely the answer.2

I downloaded a few new games today. Faithfully played this one almost exclusively since launch. Looking for a replacement. Tired of the headaches. I'll come check back in April maybe. .5

LakeStone said:Hi Everyone –Thank you for your patience while the team reviewed and discussed the concerns with the recent R223 update. Releasing a new update with any sort of changes to UI/UX is a long and meticulous process that can take many months or more of careful planning to evaluate and to reach launch (especially for a game with so much love and history). In this last update, some of those changes failed to land and some fixes are needed to remedy them.We will be applying some of the following changes to the gameboard that will be live in the game by the week of April 4, possibly even sooner. These updates include:
- Various color tweaks to the tiles to help make gameboard more visible to everyone.
- Make Powers easier to identify when activated.
- Alleviate some of the eye strain on enemy turns for a smoother transition in play.
We expect these improvements will help with many of the concerns shared with us. We do understand these fixes may take a little longer than you wish but we appreciate your patience as we apply them.Thank you everyone for your feedback and we hope you enjoy the new board more once these fixes are made.- Marvel Puzzle Quest TeamIf your game induced epileptic seizures in regular players who had no warning of a change, and those people suffered any harm as a result, you will surely face lawsuits and likely class action lawsuits as a consequence. Failure to take IMMEDIATE action — with fulsome notification to the player base of the threat you have suddenly introduced — is incompetence at every level.Have you guys talked to legal? At all?5 -

Good you‘re seeing it being addressed. Looking forward to it, being a bit sad of not playing the game for a month. But saves me a bit of money I would‘ve spent on offers.
Need we be concerned you take care of „some“ of the changes instead of all the problematic issues? Please really consult a UX/UI and Accessibility expert on it. It might cost a few thousand dollars but thats a good investment. Thank you! :-)5 -
Thanks for the update LakeStone, fingers crossed for the 'possibly sooner' option.0
