He means that most of the time, even top finishers don't end up at 1000 points. I try to push hard on Thursdays to get up there before the competition goes insane. Never going to end at 1000, but maybe peak there, which I have done exactly once so far.

And like in previous Tournaments, Buffed character cannot match. I hope this gets fixed soon.

The problem is buffed characters are matching based on their unbuffed stats rather than buffed stats. Take the team you normally play and use it in a PvE mission. Whoever matches will be who matches in the tourney. Alternatively, just look at the characters' stats in their info screen and compare.
  • Pulled Ragnarok from the 500 pt prize... which doesn't suck, although I wish it was red (I now have Rag 0-2). Really wish there was a guaranteed Red Thor in the prizes. Whinge whinge whinge.

This tournament is going to be just stupid with the point swings though... if you have a L40+ Thor then you can probably take out the enemies C Storm (if they have one) on the first round, and kill or nearly kill Thor as soon as you get the yellow for Lightning Strike. There's simply no real challenge/strategy against a buffed Thor. Particularly with the AI being even more stupid than usual.

I've given up on trying for the end game rewards on these events because I live on the east coast and I'm not going to stay up till midnight, so I'm just going for the progression rewards. Just got the level 600 hero points rewards, which is what I was aiming for. My Thor is maxed on skills so the Thunder covers aren't useful to me and then next real useful reward is the 500 hero points at level 1200 and there is no danger of reaching that. So I doubt I'll put any more time in this tourney.
  • I think this tournament will have a lot of points in it because a lot of people can compete and it's the whole week. You already find a lot 600+points people so I think near the end of the week a lot of people will reach 1000-1200 perhaps even 1300 if the participation stays this way
  • Heck, even I made 600 points, and I didn't start until this morning. Hooray for long compiles.

Of course, the retaliations are rolling in right now. Four in 5 minutes.
  • How many matches have you gone in with the level 6 Thor instead of your own? I think I've done it at least 7 or 8 times. It is so disheartening to have the gems fall and see no hammers.

So true....and it hurts so much now to retreat...do you also loose the 30% now? I was a little bit confused because the patchnotes suggested to me that in PvP it was like this before but for me it started with R41

Never. Making sure I have my guy and making sure I target C.Storm first are just part of my routine now.

At least 3 for me. I started to learn better during the Ironman Mk40 tournament, but it really sucks when you're expecting an 85 Thor and he just isn't there. It's moments like that that make me hate the retreat cost they added.
  • I reached 800 for the last yellow my Thor needed, and I think I'm done here. With AP boosts and a Wolverine buddy, much of the time the other team doesn't even get to take a single turn. This isn't a competition, it's just attrition, even more than usual.
  • Man this event is brutal, been battered twice by cascades. Can't remember last time I lost twice in an event, never mind on the same day. Not much you can do about it!
  • What were the devs thinking when designing this tournament? Unless you have a high level spidey to scare away attackers, nobody is safe from massive point losses in the last hour.

Maybe that was their point - to give equal chance to vast majority of players?

The vast majority can play at 5am UTC and have high level Spideys?

Turning a puzzle game into a game of chance...not a good idea. I would go play a casino app if i wanted to test my luck.

Every once in a while having a lottery event like this is not bad. Skill will out on the end, the usual suspects ought to be there or there abouts. But even the best (and strongest) players are vulnerable in this event. Must be encouraging for the rest of the player base.

I disagree. The wallet warriors are the only ones with a high level spidey, and hes the only thing that can neutralize free players' massive thors. The free players just cannibalize themselves leaving the high level spideys and ragnaroks alone.

At least in the other tourneys, I was able to place top 1-2 with average teams. Not even sure I can make top 10 with a level 85 thor / level 60 daken / level 60 storm, which is pretty sad when you think about it.
  • How much does one have to spend to be considered a "wallet warrior"?

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit how much real money I've dropped on this game but it's easily as much (maybe more) as you'd spend on a premium console game.

I've never ranked higher thank 11-25 bracket in any tournament, and that only once I believe. I've got 30 cover slots and the rest of my HP I've used to buy the 150HP 2 star and up packs. I've got a bunch of different characters but none of the rare ones are exceptionally high.

It's still quite a bit of a lottery spending real money. I've only gotten 2 ragnorok covers (1/1), so he's not getting to be very high level. I've gotten a total of 6 spider-man covers but I screwed up using 2 of them so I have two instances of spiderman (1/1/2 and 0/1/1) icon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gif I haven't even gotten around to trying to level him up yet because I was annoyed about that.

My highest level character is c.storm at ~50. I have a couple in the 40s, and most well below that. I've put what I consider to be a lot of time into the game but there are still a LOT of people with much higher skilled and leveled characters.

I honestly think time is the biggest factor, not money, unless you really spend an unreasonable amount.

anybody thats spending 1500 gold per cover to max out spider-man and ragnarok are wallet warriors to me

I don't know how long it will last, but I'm currently #1 in my bracket and have been most of the day. I have a 100 pt lead over #2, and they have a 100 pt lead over #3. I'm f2p, have no high level Spidey, and I've taken down numerous teams with Spidey in them (including a couple with maxed out blue skill).

Spidey isn't a defense, at least not with the AI. It's just too easy to make sure your Thor dodges any webs he does manage to get off and kill him.

There simply is no defense in this Tournament. Maybe a high level Rag -- I haven't seen one yet; maybe if someone dumps a bunch of HP into the Thunder pack and buffs one up who's actually in my matchmaking group. The people who already have one are way above my group.

If you want to wallet warrior this one, it's through buying heals to keep your heroes going after matches where the AI actually manages to get lucky.
