The aforementioned soloridge here. I contacted mischiefmaker before seeing the contest post. I like what you guys are doing and don't want to break that up. I am a hardcore lurker so I might not be the best fit, but I am looking to move to a new alliance as I don't think mine is sustainable. Everyone is a commander which means that there is no pressure to perform, not a big deal if people are motivated, but it looks like we are on the cusp of missing out on some cover rewards.
Anyway keep up the good work mischief, although we don't speak often I and the other lurkers appreciate what you do.0 -
Oh, and the hamster rag meme gets my unsolicited vote.0
-
Like I posted in my last thread, I think they're making changes in the coming patch. We will be able to see everyone's rankings in the events within our alliance and the top 3 members will have trophies by their names. A great tool to see who's gone M.I.A. or isn't pulling their weight.
As for the 20th roster spot, that's quite the dilemma. I like the contest idea, but I also don't want to pass up on someone who might be a nice asset. Guess that's something you'll have to decide on Im okay with either or.0 -
Just checking in and saying hi! I'm happy to see the guild expanding and placing well in the tournaments. BTI is proving to be sort of a weird tournament - I've got lots of covers for XForce (through some serious luck on recruit tokens), but very little iso into him. I also sold my **Wolverine after the nerf, so I had only a few days to gather up iso to pump into him before the tournament. I've gotten through the lvl-200 Patch teams through Spiderman/Hood/**Wolverine stun-lock. Without that, this would be a tough event to win matches in, because it seems like everyone has a high-level Patch.0

Hi. Thanks for having me. Looking forward to enjoy his game with you guys0

I like "PVP 3 hours left" and "MPQ Nerfing Procedure"0 -
MPQ nerfing procedure is pretty funny. Lots of good ones though.0
-
I'd personally vote for "MPQ tanking procedure" as well.
How'd everyone do in TBI? I didn't touch it until the last few hours tonight. Grinded into top 50 thanks to heavy tanking over the last week. May be all for nothing though after that. Currently sitting top 50 in unstable ISO. Been as high as 2nd but can't seem to get Ito it with high reward scores. Not really worried about force though. Just looking to stay inside the top 50. Sitting at about 25,000
I think the contests are cool but wouldn't mind a full alliance all the time, either. I do look forward to the patch as we'll be able to see who's playing. While I know I won't be near the top most of the time I play a lot and have very intention to continue to do so.0 -
TBI was brutal. Top 10 was over 800 pts in my bracket. I decided to break shield the last couple hours. What a mistake! As fast as I was killing, so were the other 10 million patches and I lost top 10. Managed top 25 good for 1 cover not 2, but on the bright side I did get a lot of ISO from that grind haha. I would kill one for every 1-3 kills on me. People were out for blood this time, especially since patch came out to play0
-
Yeah, a crazy tournament. Even 2* teams with a good astonishing wolverine were dangerous. I managed to grind to 900 right at the 3 hour mark and shield. Luckily was good enough for 1st in my bracket. Got slammed with retaliations while shielded.0
-
Aggressive tournament. Tanking in the lightning rounds helped quite a bit but once I got passed 600 pts my MMR seemed to scale pretty quickly. Although, I think I was still the only team in my MMR with a lvl 200 buffed patch
I shielded around 720, 5th place, a few hours out. Made a run for first in the last 20 minutes. Finished just under 800 pts in 2nd place. Missed 1st by 15 or so pts. The 1st place guy broke shield and knocked out a couple low pt wins, maybe 10 pts each, to keep me from overtaking. Clearly he had saved a couple nodes with easy wins for the last few minutes. Smart strategy.0 -
Hey guys, I'm the temp person filling in your 20th spot because I submitted the first meme to mischiefmaker's MPQ meme contest. I think I scored around 860 or so in TBTI tournament and got top 5 in my bracket--that's my best tournament score to date! Anyway, thanks for letting me pick up the extra alliance awards from the tournament; Mr. Rogers is stronger for it.
I'm leaving alliance to make room for whoever wins the meme contest, but if you guys find yourselves with an open spot due to retirements or whatnot, I don't have an alliance of my own. Feel free to message me with any questions you might have, and thanks again for the temp spot.
(My roster is at 34/34; I have every character except Bagman/C.Hawkeye/Yelena. My top spots are 92 Hood, 89 M.Thor, 85 OBW/C.Storm/MN.Thor/A.Wolvie. I also have 66 Doom/Punisher. In PvP, I can usually pull top 25 easily and top 10 with effort, though that varies with the featured character.)0 -
Hello everyone. I'm still alive . I finished TBI w/ about 500 points which was about top 50, close to top 11 - 25. I just read mischiefmaker's doc and opened eyes on MMR and rankings. I went into TBI at 18 hours, tanked a few but saw the roster still filled with high rosters. Maybe I'm not tanking enough. One day, I can graduate to a junior tanker. Anyways, I had about 100 points then about 3 - 4 hour mark, made my move. Even though it was filled with 2 stars, I managed to fight off patch and wolvie. I was surprised that only a few hit me, maybe 3 or 5 vs the previous I was getting 3 to 4 kills to 1 attacking me. I'm at 28k on unstable iso-8 which is 16 overall right now. Last event I was sitting close to the top 10 - 20 overall, ended up at 55. Definitely think most of the top finishers have rubberbanded to close the events. Even though at times I'm busy, I still manage to get some MPQ time. Happy to be with this group!0

I stopped at around 720 (top10) and shielded for last 8 hours. I tried to go to 800, but alway lost points again due to retiliations... So I decided to shield. I was in a difficult mmr bracket as I did not tank last week.
In iso tournament i am currently around 28k and some fights are quite tricky without boosts (lvl around 200). Out of curiosity, which characters are you mostly using in PVE? I am mostly usin spidey/patch/x or punisher/cmags/x. But I am wondering if you use other chars.0 -

I saw you creeping up the standings & could guess you wanted first place. I figured breaking shields with 5 min left was enough of a boost to grab two quick wins without being attacked. It was only my second IW cover, so I was happy to keep it. Good job, though! That bracket was more competitive than I expected. I guess purple really wanted those Cap covers!0 -

My combos so far are thor/obw/x or pun/cmags/x. Usually have hulk or lazy cap in the mid or left position. When health gets low, I rotate OBW with these different combos to heal the damages or to slow down some of count down tiles. Thor/OBW/Hulk are a beast!0 -
BTI was unexpectedly brutal in the end, yeah. Stopped playing at 730-ish points in the late afternoon (EU time) and dropped an 8 hour shield because I had a date. Was still looking fine for a top 10 spot when I came home and went to bed, so no problem there, or so I thought.
My Spidey-sense must have been tingling, though, because for some reason I woke up at about ten minutes before tournament end, noticed I dropped to 11th with my bracket leader having cleared the 1000 point limit, and managed to sneak back into top 10 with one last-minute win before going back to sleep.
It's nice to have 6 covers for gold Cap now, so he'll at least be of some use in the current PVE and First Avenger (especially since I really need those green and purple Widow covers from the latter).
As for PVE teams, Spidey/OBW/Punisher are usually my mainstays (swapping OBW out for required characters where needed), although I've been leveling Patch for this event and have been very satisfied with his performance as well. As soon as goond start hitting the 200+ level range, I tend to drop a blue/purple boost per fight, and that tends to carry me through just fine.
And another vote for hamster Ragnarok for me!0 -
Way too many posts to comment on here... that's what I get for a "family day" that almost caused me to miss out on the TBTI tourney (Heresy, I know!)
On the threads about PvP tanking.... viable until 500 points. You can go undetectable until then if you tank somewhere (any PvP tourney, LR, or SHIELD training) sufficiently before climbing the ladder. That invisibility breaks at 500 immediately (ironically, if you get knocked below 500, you regain it). In LRs, on my two Blue Hood runs, I ran uncontested all the way to the end the entire time. Seems the LRs do not use the same points "visibility" rules as the standard PvP tourneys (older coding perhaps?).
Because of said family day, I almost missed placement in the Wolvie tourney. I like and dread these types of tourneys at the same time. On one hand, the main character is so overpowered that the other two roster members really almost don't matter (although I brought in OBW as insurance against Wolvie/Patch obtaining enough green/red to cause havoc). If you beat the other side to the green/red abilities, you pretty much guaranteed a win. On the other hand, way too much risk here. I almost lost out on top 10 for the first time in ages because of being unable to sustain any real score because of the ease of defeating any team with 2** Wolvie (6k Adamantium Slash is silly, let alone 1200 green + strike tiles). Hung in there for the top 10 by single digit points though, so 2/2/2 LazyCap for me.
I'd like that Yellow X-Force as well, as my bracket in the PvE seems to be really easy. Yet, the rubberband rules plus the massive point multiplier on the last 2 rounds is going to be killer. The event is going to be TaT last round bad, unless everyone has scaled their way to mass 230s by then. I'm hoping that this will be my 2nd yellow for him, and I can collect the third in what seems to be the inevitable "one of each color for IW and XForce" daily reward scheme in the long run. Once the power curve reaches the 4**** game, everyone that didn't push for these covers early is really going to be kicking themselves hard. I'm fortunate to be sitting on half of an IW and XForce build now, with at least one in every color, should covers ever have to bought. /shudder
And on that note... daily reward... Hood Yellow.... 5/5/3 complete! Woot!
Next up, Blue CMags (yum!) then X-Forces!
Now onto my new "white whale"... GSBW.... oh look who is the reward for the First Avenger tourney... ROFL!0 -

Against groups of 3 goons I use OBW/Modern Storm/Daken - unbeatable once you get rolling. Omit Daken if Cap required.
Otherwise CMag/Punisher/x
Against 1 dark avenger/2 goon fights I sometimes do a hybrid setup with OBW/Modern Storm/CMag.
Congrats on completing your Hood, Lyrian. He's one of the characters I'm focused on right now, but that yellow daily reward feels like its so far off.0 -
Thanks!
Unfortunately, he and CMags are about to join my giant pile of 3***s at 100 in a few more thousand iso.
I really need to ignore Gold Cap as well as Torch and Gold Daken for awhile, and really work some of these people up to 141. With 100s, I'm really starting to lose my edge in keeping top 5/10 placement in tourneys, especially with all of the carrots D3 keeps tossing at people to keep pushing harder in PvP tourneys.
Heh, the problem of course is which "two" to focus on first, as always...
If I had the covers, I would push Modern Thor to 141 first, but barring another PvP with him as the 3*** cover prize, that won't happen for awhile. I guess Patch always works as a starter, but I'm not really fond of him that much.0
