  • Interesting changes. I'm more interested in the level cap increase to lv 400. I wonder if this sets up the game for more legendary heroes to be introduced.
  • According to IceX the 400 lvl cap allows for better scaling across all levels of players. That being said, in a tournament like Heroic Venom where you can't use Spidey or OBW how can you expect to beat lvl 400 characters even with a roster of lvl 141 characters.
  • I feel pretty confident that given enough time and a bit of early luck, I could beat level 400 characters in the desert (mStorm, Torch as a shield, either Psylocke or BP so that matches don't take an hour).

But I don't think that will be necessary to win this event. Lyrian and I posted a bit on this earlier; we don't know how the most recent changes will play yet, but we have a decent handle on how to control scaling. I did a writeup on the doc; check it out: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ljA ... WRp4/edit#

Thanks for the info again. I started early on the normal, but not yet on the harder one.

How do you guys feel about the new heroic PvE... i'm not too psyched. Of course, cant help myself and will play like always and try to place high, just not overly excited. I'll probably join tomorrow midday.

I feel bad icon_e_smile.gif I do not have high levels Psycho or BP...and the 1 power torch, even that much buffed, does not help much (well, he takes damage, at least).
It leaves me with wolvie and MStorm...I'm leveling Psycho anyway for the event, but gosh, that's hard...! It's been a long time since I've not been confident fighting L60 goons icon_e_smile.gif (That's pretty fun in fact! Reminds me of good ol' days).

    So far... so good.

Everything is proceeding as normal. For the event, my "A" team is 100 Psylocke + 85 Wolvie + (Open "B" team slot). The "B" Team is 51 MP + 50 IM35 + 50 MStorm + umm.... HT only as required on Essential nodes.

I do have to say... I **love** the event-only +50% match boost. That has allowed me to safely clear the hardest nodes on Deadly once on this final refresh. Be careful though... it costs 500 HP to purchases a stack of 5 of them if you run out.

The only potential obstacle that I see is if I crash and burn on the Deadly Essentials nodes in the final hour. I'm potentially worried that a bad run will train wreck everything in the final moments. Playing against even "trivial" Maggia on the Essential nodes is **not** a guaranteed win.

    Who is MP? Hawkeye?

I ran Mawkeye/IM35/mStorm early on to try and keep scaling down. Then I decided that was super boring so I just went BP/Psylocke/HT on everything. Psylocke did most of the heavy lifting, with BP's blue helping to keep me alive against higher level villains, and HT's green being surprisingly useful, even at 1 cover. I'm thinking of spending hp on him but I can't decide how I want to build him.

Timed my resets really badly but still managed top 20 and 50 finishes. Would be nice to try for yellow X Force this time around.

    Whoops... I meant BP.

Because scaling is carrying over in this new round, the lack of a high level BP is really hurting. I struggled badly to unlock the Essential nodes in Deadly. I'll probably be content enough to just farm them for points for a moderate placement, although they are already looking rather scary in level... Normal mode is your best chance for a Xforce in this round. Unlike the first round where I had to grind to the buzzer to eek out Top 2, I **think** that most will be scaled out of Normal pretty soon as the nodes are already approaching the levels they were at the end of Deadly in the opening round.

Without a MThor cover to win this time, I dumped all of my ISO winnings into LazyCap to create my 9th level 100.... /sigh

Not disappointed though... he is a nuclear option in the PvP at the moment. Nearly 4k reds and over 300 defense tiles on blue is just outright gamebreaking.

Fortunately, with a cover capped LazyCap, I can go easy on
  • Wooooo Human Torch covers in the Hulk tournament! Looking forward to those.
  • Haha. Me too. 3 covers will come in very handy
  • looking forward to lvling that HT green. although, i have a strong love for Ares and Patch green so it only makes the decision tougher.
  • I found myself largely ignoring HT powers while using him in the heroic. Mainly relied on storm and black panther. Left me a little unexcited.
  • Yeah, I was a little underwhelmed in the heroic, but I hope his green when lvled up is more powerful. Once it gets going it can be powerful, does require a ton of green tho
  • Same here.

I liked his black in the Heroic, but didn't care for either of the other colors much.

His Green is a hard conflict with virtually everyone.
His Red destroys your own strike tiles on red, which was **highly** annoying.

His Black buffed was useful, but has the serious drawback of being in the same place on the board on every cast. Placing 8 tiles is highly unlikely, plus wiping 30% of all support colors per cast is a real kick in the teeth.

That said, I could see him being compatible with Lazy Daken and Falcon, who each possess two passives that would not care about mana drain.

In the Falcon thread, IceIX also hinted that Falcon's yellow passive is a strike/attack tile buff (If Falcon is in party, attack/strike tiles are buffed by X%). Potential interesting synergy there.
  • oooh strike tile buff... another friend for Patch!?
  • I played HT/BP/Psylocke throughout most of the Heroic and found him pretty decent. I used Psylocke's red over his red (although that's largely because I had only 1 red HT cover), his green when I got to 9 or so, and usually Psylocke's black, unless there was a lot of black on board, in which case I used his black.

I like him as a general damage dealer; not particularly synergistic with anyone I can think of yet (thematically appropriate for Johnny Storm), but can dish out a lot of hurt in a hurry. HT/OBW/Hood would be pretty nasty, and surprisingly strong on defense.

Falcon looks like a good partner for Patch, unless you have a 5/5/3 Mags, who will probably be better. Falcon will also go nicely with anyone who make high-powered tiles: Punisher, Psylocke, Daken, BP, Doom, probably Torch too.

Falcon will go great with the new Daken. More strike tiles with each green match, and the strike tiles stronger with each yellow match. Use Lazy Thor or Ares to sop up all the green and yellow.

In the Hotshot tourney, especially after the second round of HT covers have now been awarded, you really have to respect HT, almost in the same manner as a MStorm or a OBW on the opposing roster. Similar to Juggernaut, you can suffer a lot of collateral damage very quickly if you aren't paying attention and let him collect a few red matches.
  • Just wanted to say welcome to our newest member, SoloRidge! His arrival bumps me out of our top 3 for The Hunt, so I guess I should post less and grind more. icon_e_smile.gif
