  • I beat the last essential without DP points earlier today. Used 202 Xforce, 166 Iron Fist, 160 Invisible Woman. Boost All, boost G/B, boost B/P.

Got 2 Iron Fist purple off and left enough black out to down Loki in one Surgical Strike. Little bit of luck and I downed Sh-Hulk relatively easy as well. The problem was the bombs. I ended up trying to get as many blue as possible and using the Force Bubbles as a stop gap. As the bombs were getting within 1-3 rows of blowing up my team, I put a bubble on the bottom row under it, ultron blows up the bottom row but because of the force bubble, the tile doesn't get destroyed. It was an interesting round but I pulled through.

I use IM40 & Hood with LCap sometimes in Gauntlet. All in the name of speeding to red/blue.

tl;dr - will doing a mass level-up mid-event impact your scaling for that event? and what the math kind of roster are you supposed to have to complete the gauntlet?
Initial scaling is only calculated when you open a sub. Assuming you've opened all the subs, leveling your roster will only make this event easier. It will affect your next event of course.

I have no idea on the strength of roster you should have to complete the guantlet. I did a full clear last time it was run with a 94 maxed star.pngstar.png roster. I relied heavily then on MN Mags + C. Storm (who was boosted), but it also took lucky boards for the final few nodes. For this event, I'm a transitioner with 3 166 star.pngstar.pngstar.png, but I am having significantly more difficulty progressing. The nodes seem to have scaled significantly higher than my roster comparatively, and also just seem to contain much more nasty combos. I should be able to WHALES! 4 nodes, but going to wait until near the end of the event or I only have 4 nodes left.

So about scaling.. does it seriously up scaling if you do the essentials before the the straight line? I noticed absolutely no difference whatsoever, and just tested it... did a line of essentials, the next sim stayed exactly the same. In Node 1, the final sim for me is the same as it is for someone who doesn't even have mystique to do the essentials..

I would love some clarification on this pls.
Yes, you're talking about personal scaling. At least in Gauntlet, its a subevent by subevent basis.

Personally, I do all non-essentials first because I'd rather get the initial highest level nodes done first before they get even more ridiculous. The con of this is essentials scale up, but I'd rather fight 200-somethings than 300+.

    re: scaling
i'm only on level 22 in the gauntlet and enemy teams are 30+ over where my non-buffed characters are capped. it's getting to the point where my progress is really slowing and outcomes are becoming more luck-based (unfortunately my buffed characters are lacking in some key colors and abilities, and aren't dealing the kind of damage i need). i have a pretty decent stable of 3*s i've had soft-capped at 104 for a hot minute, and have been on the verge of leveling them up but just haven't taken the plunge yet. i'm sure it's long overdue, but i've been paralyzed by fear of scaling until i had enough covers to bring up a sizeable group of strong characters. i've got the ISO and covers to invest in 14 3*s (i could get 5 up to 114, and another 9 who could go up anywhere from 127-166). if i go ahead and do a mass level-up, does anyone know how it will affect my scaling for the rest of the event? is my scaling locked in based on my roster when i started, or is it constantly being recalculated throughout the course of the event? if the only way i can get some of these progression rewards is by being tricksy, i'll go for it...the logic behind scaling remains somewhat nebulous to me so any info or advice would be greatly appreciated!

    re: gauntlet completion
i'm a fairly casual player and before i set up a permanent residence in the 3* transition zone, i used to be under the illusion that i would some day be able to complete a gauntlet. after seeing that for once i've got all the essentials for this run, false hope sprang eternal (albeit momentarily), but i'm thinking that it might at least be feasible to bag some of the better progression rewards. i would be pretty pleased to get a full clear of alpine tactics and would be over the moon to make a dent in global domination, i suppose we'll just have to wait and see...but that got me wondering, at what point is a roster actually capable of doing a full clear on the entire gauntlet?

tl;dr - will doing a mass level-up mid-event impact your scaling for that event? and what the math kind of roster are you supposed to have to complete the gauntlet?

    Read what I said above.

The scariest type of scaling is community scaling. With MagStorm gone, there was no reason for me to stay in 2*land. Personal and Roster(Leveling) scaling aren't that bad. I only level up characters based on how useful they'll be. I recommend leveling up your roster evenly unless you have an allstar tank like Patch/Daken/Rocket+Groot

Gauntlet is designed to take out even the best rosters. And as D3 has proven with their Ultron event for Hulkbuster, this one is set to be the most difficult Gauntlet yet. Don't sweat finishing the Gauntlet. I had to use 7 whales to finish this one. That's 2 months' worth of whales.

As for your last question, I'd say a 3* roster, or a 3*transition roster 'should' be able to complete a Gauntlet.

dang wang, so i guess maybe it has more to do with perseverance (and good boosted characters, wise use of whales/TUs/boosts, etc)..? what was your scaling like at the end when you were a maxed 2*?

maybe i'm too impatient and quit too early...like when friggin doreen can't keep her nuts in check, gimme a break my phone isn't equipped to take the kind of damage i inflict upon it after some of these matches

thanks for the tip...sadly my ldaken and groot are a little undercovered so i can't make that move yet, so for now i think i'm just going to pull everyone up to 114 and call it a day. although there's always part of me that really wants to over-level the low HP characters i have a soft spot for like falcon and loki, but i guess they can remain their squishy selves for now

don't overlevel low HP characters, you want them hiding behind your tough guys. I made the mistake of leveling Hood first when I was a noob because "he was the best character". Sadly, I didn't have any blue covers and he died when Ares sneezed, lol. Also, when they're boosted they'll be taking hits also

    Level depends on personal scaling.

I know that. That's why I asked, I wanted to know YOUR scaling. What's the level of the characters on your last node of the gauntlet?
    why does it matter?

I finished just before Raisinbman with relatively high scaling, from the jugs/ares/mys node was 350 when I hit it, everything else was 375 - 395 after that.

    Thanks for answering scoville.

@raisinbman: mine was just curiosity. You finished fast, so I was wondering what kind of scaling you where facing

ha! same here, i learned that the hard way in 2* land, and when i leveled up cstorm crazy fast and then realized she was tanking green for brutes like ares and thor for the duration of my 2* lifespan...well, it's safe to say i went slightly nuts

Well, that was mostly due to using 7 whales instead of actually doing the nodes. I believe last node was around 300~, it's now 307/307/307 for me.

For me they were level 300 or so and the bombs did 12k per. I think the idea is to hide behind iw's invisibility tile (i think that's why it does single target damage now instead of aoe damage).

I super whales'd it. Did anyone beat it straight up? If so, what strategy did you use?

lv395 Fist/HB/Hood? And don't say "whales". Three tries, haven't even killed Hood yet, much less the other two.

Just got anihilated by DP/Loki/Hood. Partially due to me being a dumb-**** and forgetting to NOT do the 4 matches a couple of times, but also due to a really awful board.

I didn't even *attempt* the previous one of Blade/Cage/Prime. Just whaled it, and even then that took me two attempts. I cannot see how it's possible to do that one legit without ridiculous luck. Or maybe Loki, actually...

Pretty sure I went PX/GSBW on this one.

ETA: didn't boost because of hood and my lucky break was catching a match-5 with 7 purple AP in hand. Mystique's purple is my strongest color, so px gave me +4 purple to start GSBW's chain.

    Any advice on Sim 41? It's 297 Fury/298 XForce/297 4Thor for me.

I've not got a ton of options.

    240 (166) LCap
    180 (90) IW
    166 Blade
    166 Cage
    160 Hulk
    155 LDaken
    155 (61) Mystique
    153 IF
    152 Patch
    145 Cyc
    138 (100) DP
    135 DD
    135 Loki

A few more 3* in the 100-120 range and the usual 2*s.

I used beast/daken/blade for this one. Beast blue is cheap and hard for hood to stop. If you can get at least one attack tile from beast, then your strike tiles become doubly effective. Not many people have leveled beast though, so probably not a good option for everyone. There's probably better options out there anyway.
