Guess who's being released next season...
This sounds pretty awesome. Looks like I'm going to have to hold onto Rag next time I pull one...

I just bumped Rags to 140 and have been using him with Cyclops in Prodigal sun. It's nuts, so much red... so much green. Throw in a random green user, or switch Cyclops/Grocket to Lthor/Loki... keeps Lazy Thor very very busy.

I do not understand why people want Ragnarok to have a third ability so bad. He is the most annoying and frustrating enemy to face in PVE.

The current Hunt PVE being the most perfect example as he's in 80% of the nodes. I do not enjoy facing Ragnarok at any level because he goes through these crazy spurts where he literally destroys my entire team with his ridiculous cascades.

Look at the recent added 3rd abilities with Loki and Doom.. before I did not mind fighting them, now I absolutely dread facing them because they're so powerful now. I can only imagine what a 3rd ability will do for Ragnarok unless they raise the AP costs of his current abilities. We're already complaining that PVE isn't fun so why add further aggravation?

Does anyone else feel the same way?

The difference between him and Ares/Bullseye/Moonstone/2*Daken is simply that he's a 3* and 3*s should be playable. Gotta give some value to them gold tokens.

He's definitely annoying, but he's only a problem when he's setting up one of the above mentioned 2*s's (?) abilities.

    Hey All

Miles from Demiurge here to let you know about some new character updates that are coming soon to Marvel Puzzle Quest.

Ragnarok (Dark Avengers) - Coming 3/12/15 (THAT’S TODAY)
The first character update is to Ragnarok (Dark Avengers). Ragnarok is going to be coming back into rotation with some upgrades including a new power!

We wanted to revamp Godlike Power in a big way to make Ragnarok the scary out-of-control clone-god of thunder he is in the comics. This required bumping up the cost considerably, but his new ability is designed to feed this re-vamped Green.

    Godlike Power - Old - Cost:10 (6 at level 5)
Ragnarok exhibits his godlike power, cleaving the battlefield in two. Destroys the two center columns of tiles so completely they don’t generate AP.
    Level 2 - Costs 1 AP Less
    Level 3 - Costs 1 AP Less
    Level 4 - Costs 1 AP Less
    Level 5 - Costs 1 AP Less

    Godlike Power - New - Cost:14
Ragnarok slams his hammer down, releasing a wave of electricity that scars the battlefield. Deals 203 damage to all enemies and 137 to allies. Destroys a random column. Does not generate AP.
Level 2 - Deals 266 damage to enemies and 137 to allies.
Level 3 - Deals 331 damage to enemies and 137 to allies.
Level 4 - Deals 461 damage to enemies and 137 to allies.
Level 5 - Deals 719 damage to enemies and 137 to allies.
MAX Level 5: Deals 2276 damage to all enemies and 435 to allies.

    Thunderclap - Cost: 6
Thunderclap didn’t change much. Instead of creating Green tiles, Thunderclap now creates Blue tiles to feed into Ragnarok’s new power. Damage numbers and numbers of tiles created are unchanged.

    New Power:
    Lightning Rod - Cost: 8
Ragnarok hurls his hammer into the thunderclouds, where it absorbs the power of the storm. Creates 1 Green Charged tile. Catching the hammer charges the cyborg with electricity, giving him a burst of 312 health.
Level 2 - Creates 1 Charged tile. Ragnarok heals 371 health.
Level 3 - Creates 2 Charged tiles. Ragnarok heals 371 health.
Level 4 - Creates 2 Charged tiles. Ragnarok heals 480 health.
Level 5 - Creates 3 Charged tiles. Ragnarok heals 552 health.
MAX Level 5: Creates 3 Charged tiles. Ragnarok heals 1754 health.

Ragnarok’s update is set to enter the game on Thursday 3/12 and his new power will be debuted/earnable in an event early next week.

Have you even seen Rags third ability? It's trash. And have you seen the "buff" for his green from 6 AP to 14AP? If anything you should be ecstatic because this makes Rags trivial to deal with in PvE. Rags should be much less annoying now that he can't spam godlike power, and that he'll help you by making green charge tiles.
  • lol yea ditto what NoPo said. RAGS IS UTTER GARBAGE NOW LOL. time to free up a roster slot!

    I like the changes, personally.
And, if he's still annoying for you to fight -- then BYOR! icon_e_biggrin.gif

Thunderclap makes blue now, since bluespam is apparently the direction the devs want the game to go. Except not, with the changes to mags/mystique. It means 4hor/Rags is potentially viable (though anyone with a usable 4hor has a maxed Xforce, so...). I think he's good for the 3* tier though, because green generation (at least, green AP generation) is pretty useful for GSW/Patch teams in off colors (Lightning Rod right before GSW's purple practically guarantees Sniper Rifle).

The OP shouldn't be too afraid of Rags now, his powers are pretty unlikely to land and the charged green is pretty good for the player. I'd guess he's about as useful, but without as many annoying chain cascades--though previously DA never had anything to spend their green on... Thunderclap being Blue just means even more Chemical Reaction which is a pain in the ****. Guess we'll see how it goes.
  • The question should be "Why everytime D3 touch a character they become trash?"
Only CMags survived (and barely) the "fun balance" and only Loki had positive results after they changed him

4hor/Rags doesn't seem so viable if you notice Rags red is needed to generate blue

and 3 green charged tiles won't change your life so i dont think its feared much at all

Problem is that they are giving a 3rd power and making him WORSE than before. His new greenflag.png costs too much AP for the low damage, and you cant even control which column will be destroyed. BP deals more damage and while it gives AP to the enemy team you have no direct drawback to your own team. Self heal on blueflag.png is very low too.

I know it doesnt makes much sense, but a team temporary heal on blueflag.png to be able to use his greenflag.png more freely would be waaaay better.

I wrote this post prior to the actual change taking effect. I feel like they released it today just to piss me off lol But overall I am somewhat happy they calmed down his speed.

at least we know who the Next PVE is. weee another week off (i will never use the 4 star and already have Ragnarok so no reason to grind in the next event)
  • I'm actually somewhat confused by the proposed changes. Is there any particular reason that Ragnarok generates charged tiles but doesn't actually interact with them in any way? Or am I missing something?
  • The theory is that you will be able to use his over priced green ability by matching charged tiles.

The best use for him now looks to be tank + green generator. Maybe if you put him on a team with GSBW? Red -> Blue -> Green and Pink -> Green?
Rags + Thor might be decent?

But why would I want to? It doesn't deal awesome damage, and the self-damage is like the turd on top

I pretty much want 0 green covers at this point. There's no reason for the self damage when other abilities in that range do far more damage with less risk. Call of the Storm is way better, and even Rage of the Panther can be cast in such a way where you give the enemy useless AP.

Blue is utterly worthless. It's basically converting 8 blue to 5 green IF you're lucky enough for the charge tile to land near a match. In the best case, where all 3 charge tiles show up next to each other, you get 9 green for the cost of 8 blue. Whoop de doo.
  • I was just playing a mission in this week's story mode, Ragnarok 's red ability created blue tiles instead of green. What's going on? It worked fine a moment ago.

It's part of his rework that launched today.
