@Beefhammer69 I am very impressed that there were 68 Beefhammers before you. It is like a Warrior Guild! Something Okoye would approve of I feel.3

Okoye is only problematic in pvp when paired with iHulk. She doesn’t have any other partners that cause issues. iHulk is probably the easiest character to design a counter for that’s ever been in the meta, but they actually have to do it.1

I see some great suggestions about how to balance, not nerf, her.

She doesn't need to be 'nerfed' or 'balanced' because she is not broken. Characters that were nerfed in the past were usually broken. The only ones I might consider slightly nerf-eligible at this moment are Polaris and iHulk and maybe 4Grocket.

I would contest that they could easily fix it, and still have a nice ability, by just making it only proc on matches. Still enemy or friendly, but just matches. Tile destruction is such a broad term that allows .... INFINITE... possibilities?

There aren't too many broken characters at this point, just broken interactions. They purposely excluded Juggernaut from working with power enhancers, they could choose to do the same with Hulk if they were so inclined.3

how much would a 5* Hood powerset disrupt things? Someone who's constantly draining the enemy AP pools? I'd think that'd be a big deal... and make sure it includes TU AP as well.0

With his connection with team-up tiles in his lower versions I think a 5* Cyclops would be the perfect vehicle to drain enemy team-ups as a counter Okoye type.

lol... i get what y'all are saying about Yelena, Hela, and old-Gambit.... but i meant EXACTLY like Hood.
Steal per turn 1 AP from the enemy for each colored pool that has over X amount of tiles on the board.
Works right off the bat... no "waiting until the enemy gets 9", no waiting on a repeater or countdown... it just works.
EDIT: ....whoa... didn't someone mention the possibility of Dormammu at some point as a character...? And doesn't Hood get his power from him? ....hmm...0 -
All you'd need to counter iHulk is someone who does what Eddie and Black Suit do to protect and strike tiles.
At 5 covers all AOE damage is reduced to 1. Boom, iHulk is tamed.2 -

You don't need to nerf Okoye. What the 5* meta needs is a character who has a passive ability that destroys multiple green tiles for no AP per turn (like up to 3-5 per turn) and a cheap active power (6-7 AP?) that completely drains the opposing teams team up-AP pool and the character has a high health pool and one other power (support/damage/special tile creation/destruction etc). There is your Hulkoye (and Okoye) counter character that wouldn't be unfair and would be useful as an anti-green power denier on teams, since so many teams rely on the green aoe damage but at the same time denies your team green AP with the passive destruction for no AP. This is how to balance a game without directly nerfing characters.3

I personally think it’s a level 503 Kitty that needs to be nerfed. Something about that number does magical things.1

I think she does not deserves a nerf. She deserves a fix because she is an anomaly. She deserves to be free from herself.
In a gacha game where powercreep is the rule okoye users see new characters from her perspective and calculate how that newcomer would mess to his okoye team.
That is not acceptable. Wakanda forever should be fixed to totally work without having her tanking and be on the front. I think okoye users would be happy about a fix like that.
If a tradeoff would be implemented, like fixing a limit to her AoE passive boost, it would be fine for me(surely some okoye users would not be so happy then lol).
The reason hulkoye teams are good on defense is because hulk alterates the board and then its unpredictable how AI gains TU. It would be nice to have more natural enemies draining TU, not sure if there is someone in the game.
Of course a "natural enemy" like that would be a great natural ally for her.0 -
Nerf nobody. Whenever there is a meta character or character pair Nerf XXX comes next. Nerf Sentry, nerf Hulkbuster, nerf C4rol, nerf 5Thor, nerf Kitty, etc. etc.
Buff the old characters! Come out with a good counter (not like Archangel and hobocap counters to Gambit). How about a new 5 with something like Quake's passive. Maybe as it is a 5 it would return some of the AOE damage as well, who knows. Even now Hulkoye isn't unbeatable like Gambit was, just a health pack sink.2 -
Onslaught drains the board of team up, but doesn’t affect its pool. I’m not sure if any of the other AP targeting powers like Mordo, Nightcrawler, or Yelena will target it0
