When do you expect the sub to end ?
Will just posted a few pages ago they plan to spring another unpleasant surprise on players, arbitrarily closing the sub once they feel the main event should progress.

Went back and read that thread and my first reaction... O M G!!!! I've been letting the rubberband build up and now there's no way to predict when they will end the sub. I'm running out of straws icon_mad.gif

Oh - that's actually almost a copy of mine icon_e_wink.gif However I got to this point by losing whenever health-packs regenerate and not playing at all - this made the levels drop by 40 levels or so icon_e_biggrin.gif

This is like some kind of psychological experiment where they try to see how much abuse you can take before going postal. Off to adding some more bite marks to my mouse pad. icon_evil.gif
  • WoW more people rage at this and I just go... "ok i just take as many points... it gets too hard so i just need to be better"

so now im just doing PvP and my Pokemon game at the same time (I haven't played Pokemon Y online in weeks because of this xD)
  • Nice, another sleepless night ! Yeeaah !
  • Note to D3, when you have a scaling system that increases enemies levels the more you play then expect people to play less not more. A community progress bar is not incentive enough to mess up a player's scaling.

P.S. Also applies to progression rewards that aren't very rewarding or not even close to being achievable.

P.P.S. Remove scaling and people will grind more.
  • Since I suspect we can't really discourage you from adjusting the target points, could you at least give us some fair warning on when it will happen, early enough so we can time our refreshes? Some non timezone dependant format would be great, like "1d12h time left on the main clock".
  • We're watching the progress toward the second score target and are planning to adjust it downward tomorrow if it continues to look like we're not going to hit it with a good chunk of time left for the final missions.

    Will,

Thanks for the update. I want to echo what some others have already stated well: please do not adjust the sub's target score downward. A change like this, so late in the sub, will likely be confusing and frustrating for many players.

Here are two alternatives that I feel would work better than the proposed change:
    • As suggested previously: slowly start injecting artificial points into the global progress. This will accomplish the goal of accelerating the end of the sub while giving players plenty of time to adjust and come up with their own personal "optimal" way of finishing out the sub.
    • Let the sub end on its own, but open up the final set of repeatable missions before the sub ends (possibly with a new message in the sub explaining that new missions are open). This will give observant players (and forum-goers) more flexibility in how they choose to finish the event, but will still allow for people to finish out the sub event before starting on the new missions in the main event (because of rubber-banding) if they choose to do so, or if they don't see the new missions.

Thank you for your consideration, and keep up the great work.

Anyone else looking in the credits for "Consultant - Dr. Phillip Zimbardo"?
  • The refresh seems random to me. I'm just going to do whatever it takes for top 30.

If they not deciding until tomorrow that not likely to happen
  • If they are going to use community points as a stopping point instead of hard start/stop times (like 9 am/pm PST in the past), then they need to do it for all rounds for it to make sense. It's too hard to try and determine how long each sub is going to last to come up with an overall deadline like 7 days for the entire arc of an event.

The most logical solution is not to change anything further at this point; let the sub close at 400 million points, then open up the final main event with no time limit, but also with a point limit. 200 million, 400 million, whatever.

That would make the event consistent along it's entire continuum.
  • the issue in the beginning doesn't seem to be too bad, I didn't start right away but I'm currently 27th overall, just had to grind more than some people probably which will be bad for MMR later I'm sure.

Oh, like they waited to see about restarting it, and then it ended up being too late to do anything? icon_lol.gif

No need to readjust and no need for long words.

Just give everyone the bloody Daken covers.
  • I really hope they don't mess around with the points.

My personal speculation is that they want to end PvP season 1 with a 3* Daken tourney, which is why they're so concerned about the hard stop.
  • Kinda checked out on this one... No Patch (would it kill them to make ANYONE else required?)+ weak rubberbanding is a death sentence unless I want to run up my scaling, which is already to the point of frustrating. The subevent progression rate slowing to a crawl makes it pretty boring too.

    And Daken's a loser anyway. icon_razz.gif
