Is there anyone else besides me and possibly Lyrian who isn't touching the sub anymore to wait for the main? :S
To then find out that those repeatable main missions have a base value of 140? No thanks.

Well, I really want to trust Ice's words when he says that the unlucky SOBs would be able to rubberband a bit in the last section in Main, but I'm giving too much credit here, ain't I?

I didn't start right away but I'm still up there but i've had to grind alot more, which is fine since I haven't got my MMR in PVE up high enough to make that hard for me.

Same here - I just finished a refresh 1st in sub and 30th overall. None have become "unbeatable" for me yet - and this is with a "weak" Patch at 1-1-0. I must say I am shocked considering I was one of the ones caught in the early, lets say festivities this tourney started with....

I'm just worried about going to sleep, waking up to do a refresh and find out that....BOOM....early end to Tower occured....

Now try that again with level 150-230 enemies...

newer players do better in PVE veterens do better in PVP seems fine to me. It's just nice to be able to get 2 covers for a hero from an event, pretty sure my 2 star roster doesn't have a chance at that in pvp

Actually with all the changes recently to bracketing in PvP it's now at:
"Newer players do better in PvE and PvP, while veterans can go and weep in a corner"

still haven't managed to crack top 10 in a pvp, grinding isn't enough in those, I get attacked by players with 3 star rosters and can't retaliate or climb higher when I get to a certain point.

I'm fine with not getting a cover through my own fault, but there has been no fault of mine. Okay now I sound as if MPQ were my second job *sob* lol
Que sera, sera. At least I'll definitely get a shirtless Daken through alliance rewards and not everyone can have that.

don't feel like it's any fault of mine that I can't top PVP events, I just haven't played long enough. I agree the scaling probably gets a bit ridiculous but I assume there is a way to lower your MMR in PVE as there is in pvp but you might have to tank an event or something which is not really what you want to be doing in PVE.

I was an unlucky SOB and I have rubber banded my way into second spot in my main so far even with Steam trying to screw me over - Sumilea was on my main stream account but MPQ currently thinks I am a totally new player and trying to get me to play the tutorial again. icon_cry.gif

I think quite a few people are taking it easy/scaled themselves into oblivion, Ice might well have to hit the fast forward button because its now going to be very tight to get 3 refreshes in at this rate.

The thing is there isn't a reliable way to tank your pvp mmr any more so we are left hitting full 141 teams all the way to the top which is a very draining possibility. Last night I even got hit 6 times overnight in the Loki tourney when I has 300 points with lvl 141 hood Thor and a 51 Loki. If we weren't all jammed into mmr hell I'm sure most if not all of those teams would have skipped me at that point level.
  • Do we have any update on the early ending of Tower ? I'm not sure about what I should do now.

I don't know why people are even worried about scaling when you can't reliably clear enough missions to drive up the scaling in the first place. Waiting until the end to clear stuff is just asking community scaling to slap you silly. Patch is not as powerful as he looks because you have no way to mitigate the drawback of Berserker Rage in this event, and simply having regen doesn't help much against Ares/Juggernaut.
If you haven't hit too much scaling yet, he really is. He can easily eat like 3-4 Onslaughts/sunders/headbutts without quite dieing, and with the low hundreds community scaling during the first sub, he was able to easily take at least a few turns of bezerker rage match damage, especially if you can eliminate a couple of the tiles by having a purple match lined up for him.

Besides, with how silly big his boost is, TBTI can actually be viable. Right now he takes 4/6 colors for me, with IM40 taking the blues, storm taking blacks, or mags taking purple. And IM40 can feed him reds to cast it fairly well too

Now that I think about it...the church of patch has been oddly quiet this event....
We've been having too much fun! icon_e_wink.gif

The best way to "mitigate" Berserker Rage is, of course, to leave your enemies in a bloody pile of gore. Failing that there are a couple of sidekick moves (Cap R/B, Magneto P) that can take out offending tiles as well as the traditional match-3 approach. It's also worth noting that if you've got 5Y you can start a match at less than half health, make all the tile matches and still be at max before they can launch an active (barring a ridiculous cascade).

"Once you've had buffed Patch, nothing will match"

D3 haven't said anything further, not that I've seen anyway. They may have put those plans on hold as it looks like there will be around 24 hours available of the final nodes.

My guess - based more on pessimism than the tower sub tracking info - is that the tower will close up within the next 8-10 hours. Currently it's sitting at 83%, and the rate will need to increase significantly for that to happen. I don't think there will be 12+ hours, ie no time for extra refreshes for people in the sub now.

I think it's gonna happen at about the same time of day as the city sub finished up, give or take a couple of hours. Giving a huge overall advantage for the event for people able to play at that point in time, and given how tight points have been, a massive middle finger to anyone who needs to do their final refreshes a couple of hours earlier due to other commitments.

I think this nebulous ending time seemed like a good concept, but because rubberbanding still exists (to give some people the illusion of competitiveness), it has only increased my frustration even further at the extent to which this 'casual mobile match 3 game' requires strict time management in order to be competitive.

Someday I'm sure they'll wake up and give people the option of choosing their own event end-times for convenience. Until that day people in awkward timezones will continue to be alienated.
  • Something also puzzles me.

Main still has 9 nodes to play, and only 7 were opened so far.

Does that mean we'll have 2 subs opened in the last day ? I can't remember what happened in the past...

no, there are no more yellow circles. those nodes will be repeatable inside the main, with rubberbanding. so all your work in the subs was kind of pointless. yay?

I do hope that there is rubberbanding, just to spite those people who clearly brag about how easy it is for them to be in the top 10 for main and subs.

Except, I took my Patch from mid-70's to 105 almost entirely from ISO in the subs. So not quite pointless.
