I’m disappointed at the loss of guaranteed 4-stars, but that’ll be offset by the blessed end to the non-stop arguments about PvP systems after this thread peters out in about a week and a half (and before whatever system they decide to re-implement two seasons from now).

Thanks for the update @Brigby, and thanks to the devs for listening.
I wonder if the 4* cover had been placed at 30 wins and the Shield Sim 4* had been placed at 50 wins if the outcry would have existed at all. (Yes, I know CP was restructured in a way that caused controversy as well, but for those of us who were neither scoring 1200 points nor reaching top 10, it was hard to get too fired up about it.)
Put another way, I still see this as easily solved. The "good ole' days" of PVP weren't all that great for a lot of us (for reasons mentioned in the OP). So why go backward? The devs need time? Cool. Make it better.
One piece of advice: this game is a big enough time sink. Please prioritize player reward/time spent ratio. Mario's Hat needs power moons, I need to practice my hatchet skills to foment a revolution in 1960's America, and things have seriously gone south in Egypt circa 50 BCE. There's only so much time in a week for defeating Galactus and delighting the crowds of the arena.

Would it be possible to have both options available? When you select your clearance level, have a screen after saying Progression or Win based PvP event. Pick which you want to do for that event.10

So just to be clear, the new system was ran 2 or 3 times off season with no changes despite feedback saying to do so. No changes were made when it became the system for the season. And now, rather than try to tweak it a bit, trying to find the right balance like you did when you changed PvE, you're just going to scrap any good it could have and go back to old system but maybe, possibly, try a new system later down the road? There's no middle of the road here?

Personally, I can't say I am happy with this. Yes 40 wins was a slog, but I always joined in the beginning of the event, got a few wins and kept coming back to it to get a few more. Playing an event from start I would casually get to 40 wins and nab some 4*s. Oddly enough, that would also get me in to the high 800s by match end. And most importantly, I didn't care if I lost. Oh, well, not playing for placement anyway.
Please go back to the wins based, like today. I'm sure there are a lot of us in the silent majority who really liked it and played more and were able to get max progression.22 -
@Brigby Disappointed with the reversal.
I understand why some competitive players would be upset about it because they can reach high rewards very fast with the points based system but I think that this decision is counter productive if you are only going to bring it back that system in another form anyway. They were still able to compete that way for the placement rewards if they wanted. Every player must make choices in what rewards they chase & not all of it should be based on the points to give balance between different types of players.
I for one was very happy with the win based system as I can't play for extended periods of time in one go to reach higher points thresholds so the slow trickle of wins here & there over 2 days without caring about my points or placement (my personal choice as a player to chase progression rather than placement) was allowing me to get better rewards overall as I was able to score the 4* cover (which I gave up on with the points system due to time constraint in my real life) without affecting my real life / MPQ balance.
Once again, the decisions are made to favor only one type of player that are very vocal, yes, but not representative of the entire player base.16 -

I do hope they have a win type system for people to progress more. Just make the 15 CPs at a reasonable spot to get them. There needs to be a blend for players for sure.11

Maybe should have announced this before the dozen or so goodbye/retirement messages at the end of last season from long-time MPQ vets, but at least you did announce it.1

The Sim last season and 72 wins was a nightmare. Worst slog through champed 5 stars.
I'm happy it has reverted. It's not the best set up
And maybe the wins system can be tweaked but 40 wins is just to much0 -

So while we're hard at working developing that experience, and with the launch of the Reality Gem Season, we're going to change how you earn Progression Rewards in Versus Events back to being based on Event Points, rather than the number of mission Wins you earn. Progression reward thresholds will work exactly how they were prior to Time Season - high value missions will get you closer to your next Progression reward, but you can lose Event Points from your Progression, as well as your Placement.
We may try another change to the system down the road, in one form of another, but until then, we'll keep listening to what you like and dislike about Versus.

Just for once admit you guys screwed up and you don’t even have to come completely truthful because you guys lost sales in shields, many players played less and above all negatively affected your bottom line ($$$). You guys would be seen far less thoughtless and more responsible if you actually owned up to your mistakes, admitted it and moved on. But no, you continue with this PR ****. “ oh yeah players loved the new system but we are going backwards”

That’s a ridiculous way of dealing with the situation,
“we thought it was a success...., but we are going to change it back again anyway “
40 was a bit too much but at least you knew you were guaranteed a 4*
I shall carry on playing as if it’s still in place and see what I end up with
I’ll be interested to see if I get enough points to get the 4* cover still

Maybe you (and some others in this thread) could put less effort into denouncing players with different opinions than you, and try working with the ones that want to see a compromise that makes everyone happy. Just a thought.
