Hey all.

Ran out of heath packs and used a shield @ rank #3 w/ 550-ish points. About two hours later, I got noted that I was attacked twice; I won one (sending me to rank #2!) and the other said shielded, with 18 in (parentheses).

Is there an FAQ somewhere on how shielding works? The search feature said the term "shield" was too common.

Not sure about the FAQ but he won 18 points and you lost none, that is generally what it means.

Using shields prevent you to lose points and be found in matchmaking from the moment you apply them to the moment they expire or you start attacking. Looking for targets/skipping without attacking does not break the shield.

You can still gain points on won defenses, and can be attacked if you were queued as target/retaliation from before the shield was up.

So I jumped in early, figured I'd grab the first few prog rewards and leave it be.
I've picked up a few defensive victories, which is nice, and no-one has hit me for points, which is even nicer, but I don't have a whole lot of points so I'm probably not a juicy target.

I thought I should probably try and make some kind of push, since it's drawing to a close, but oh man, it's mirror matches all the way down (or up), isn't it?

Kudos to anyone who places in top 45 - I don't think I would have the patience to fight Jugg/IM35/MStorm matches for an entire tournament.

I thought this tournament would be quite fun; to the contrary, it's turned out to be the most boring one in recent memory.

I'd rather slog through 3x230s for an hour than plink away at the same team as mine ad infinitum.

Got attacked 4 times attempting to get 50 more pts. for a Top 5 finish. Ended with a net loss of -21.

Thew up another shield. Have been attacked 5 times since(all losses, shield prevented).

Currently #2 at 609 pts. (Would do a SC here, but I use CrApple gear and can't do neat things like that.

Yeah I logged on half an hour ago to -182 points!
Worked my way back up and shielded in 2nd with 677 points.

I just shielded in 2nd just over 600. Was very frustrating - I was trying to push for 600 for the 500 ISO but kept getting smacked right before the last fight I would need to cross the threshold.

I got up to 300 for the Heroic (3* Mags Blue! Hello 2/1/2!) and figured I'd lower my mmr with the attacks and slide to 201-250 (don't need the Wolverine covers) and nobody has attacked me for like three hours. Please attack me if you see me; I'm running a pretty weak team (40 IM, 40 Storm, 30 Juggernaut) and I won't retaliate. Otherwise I''m going to have to get some retreat losses.

Juggernaut scares away people at any level. You will get more attacks with virtually any other character instead.

If anyone sees Angiavista in their MMR, can you do me a favor and attack? He/she/it is unshielded and tied with me for 5, meaning that I am shielded at 6...

I would do the same for all of you if I were not an unreliable heel.

lol just hit the 700 mark while shielded from a successful defense. One more and that would put me top!

Guess i'm in the minority here but i rather enjoyed this tourny. Probably the easiest tourny i've been in so far. With 4.5 hours left i entered and worked my way up to just over 600 with only 2-3 attacks along the way. Once i hit 600 though the attacks started rolling in got knocked back down from 630 to 587. Won one more match and shielded. Almost right after putting the shield up got hit. That was close. Then i got a defensive win for +17 which took me up to 632. Sitting in first with a comfortable lead over 2nd. Storm in jungle is fun fun fun

I timed my run to be right around the 6h mark to go (2 x 3h shields), betting on the true feeding to start then as my bracket was finally heating up.

Turned out I was right, as late starters were cherry picking me off. Speed boosted my way to the high 600s and shielded, despite all the incoming attacks. Retaliations kept pouring in over the entire three hour. Won two defenses, which pushed me over 700.

The first three hour shield expired, but in the last few minutes before it went, I skipped around and found someone with 760!! points. Pounced on that player for a cool +28 and reshielded for the rest of tourney at 745. At this point, the only player that can actually catch me is the person in second, but he/she would have to win two fights before the horde catches them to overtake me. After that, its 100+ points down to 3rd place, where everyone is giving up on trying to scale the insurmountable ladder at this point.

Going to seriously miss skipping around for targets with tomorrow's R48 patch.

I don't have a scary team (IM/Widow/Storm) so I've turtle shielded my way over 600 and hoping for a top 5 (currently in 3rd). Spent 300 HP so far but I'll be getting at least 150 back.

Guy at my bracket (cyrus1) reshielded at least 4-5 times throughout this tournament some people and how they treat their HP

It was fun to watch as at one point when he wanted to get a higher lead on others and threw the shield down at 780, he got knocked down to ~590 ;D he managed to scrape himself back into first now but by inches
