my Xforce wolvie fight is at 179 right now
  • Well I'm getting my **** handed to me pretty much every fight now. This looks like it's going to be a 5 blue Spidey event once again. Otherwise I have about a 10% chance of actually outlasting anyone or getting a lucky board. I wish they'd scale the enemies based on your character levels and not on your success rate. There's little to no skill (or fun) involved when a dumb maggia dude drops 5 countdown tiles that will wipe out your entire team.
  • Maybe if they took everyone with a stun lock Spidey out of the scaling equation, the levels would be more reasonable

After playing since yesterday, I thought I would chime in and make a few points.

First I think this is a vast improvement over the last 2 PVE events. The last one was too much of a pain and I just skipped it mostly because I burned myself out on TaT.

This event is at least playable and I think they will continue to tweak the scaling until it falls inline with where it needs to be. Is it perfect? No. Is it better? Yes.
I wouldn't worry too much that they are done with balancing the PVE scaling. It will realistically take 2-3 MORE events to really have things tuned how they are supposed to. I am sure there is a variable that they can adjust to slow the community scaling a tad each time so when they are done, its just about right.

I am glad they took my suggestion to make 2 events, one for normal and one for hard. It caters to everyone. It gives the lower ranking people something to strive for. Building up your team is half the fun.

I think they are listening to us and I agree they still need to communicate better AND use a sticky for known issues!

I do have an issue with, this is the way we want the game work and if you don't like it, tough luck. Personally I don't understand why there needs to be a community scaling. There is no benefit to us as a community, no group rewards, no better buffs, no iso scaling, nothing that would make me WANT to be part of the scaling community. If they personalized it so scaling just affects ME and no one else, I think everyone would have a much better experience.

Anyway, so far so good, I am hoping they are making adjustments and will communicate they ARE making adjustments and what is going right and what's not. Just so we feel informed.

I will say they are pretty decent on the customer service side as well, so willing to stick this out with them as we play this event.
  • If you don't have a maxed Daken or Moonstone you shouldn't expect to do well. It'd be like trying to The Hulk without a maxed Wolverine 2* or TaT without a high level Patch. The point of the PvE event is that you're supposed to want to level up the featured character. Even a maxed Captain America will be better than anyone that isn't Magneto classic/Spiderman for your 3rd filler guy role. Now I get that people don't always have iso 8 to spend on the oddball characters, but let's not forget having the right featured characters is always key to success in the PvE events. It just happens almost everyone had OBW, Patch, Thor, and Wolverine maxed in the past that featured those guys. Yes, Spiderman and Magneto can usually bail you out, but even then, Moonstone is still doing most of the heavy lifting and tanking while you're trying to get a stunlock, especially while fighting The Hood.
  • This is by far the best thing we have had in weeks. STOP winning. It could be thick as thieves or heroic mode scaling. icon_mad.gif

He's right. Stop winning so that the levels will go down for everyone.

I've now fought through all of the "Hard" battles several times. Fun event -- I'm needing to change up my roster frequently.

Hood/Doom/Magneto has been kicking my **** in Latveria. Even when they're at level 112. I finally brought out Spidey against them. It was interesting being attacked by IW, and by x-Force Wolverine.

8 days left in the event ... It would be cool for X Wolverine to be buffed before the event is over. 8 days, though -- I'm pretty sure I won't be able to stay focused on this event for 8 days. I'll hope that rubber-banding can keep me in the top 100.

My Loki is seeing a lot of action, especially with Patch. It would have been nice to see a buff on Daredevil in this event.

The scaling seems to be working much better. I'm using a variety of rosters and strategies, and the opponents are challenging. That's an improvement over level 230 opponents, which usually forced just a handful of strategies.

My Moonstone is Level 30, is she worth dumping ISO into over IM40 for this event?

I agree. Lots more strategy this time around and the scaling is enjoyable rather than devastating. The Daken, x force and maggia muscle simulation on normal put me down twice before I boosted and beat them (but just barely). I like the combinations of bad guys we are fighting - they are tough because of their powers and not their uber-HP. It makes it way more important to strategize and watch their ap and moves.
  • I was lucky and placed in a favorable bracket.

Sitting in 1st in main bracket with 4K lead. Do I keep grinding away until all the events are down to 1 or am I just opening myself up to some vicious rubber-banding.

What's the best strategy for protecting an early lead in PVE?

My Moonstone and Daken are 26 and 25 respectively. I've yet to use either one despite having max covers and I'm currently 5th in my main bracket. The key is having a diverse roster so that when you reach a node that locks characters X, Y, and Z, you're not out of luck. And hopefully your roster includes Spidey, OBW, C Storm, and Loki. They're all solid utility characters (save for Loki, but he's required for several nodes). If you have them at 40+ you should do reasonably well.

Grinding with optimal timing is the only sure panacea, but even with it, people will still pass you periodically over time during a given sub-event. They are sometimes playing catch-up, or just have to play at sub-optimal times due to life. Don't let that stress you out - just keep doing what you're doing. So long as you grind the last few refreshes hard, you will pass them up going into the final stretch by virtue of rubberbanding + your early grinding.
  • Ok so I've fought these lvl 182 Dakken / Maggia / S&V 3 times to end in failure. I don't wanna imagine when they scale higher. Lol

I am jealous. I picked the wrong time to enter. The top 5 in my bracket are 20k+++
  • Daken is killing me...but besides that I don't mind the global scaling. It makes the game little more challenging and a bit more time consuming. Games shouldn't be a total cake walk, it should be fun yet challenging. My only hope is the global scaling resets per sub-event. That's my two cents...

So anyone found a winning strategy against Mags, Hood, and Doom? I don't have Spidey, so I'm left with Cap A as a stunner and OBW as a healer. Having spidey do both sure would be nice to have to free up a slot if anything. I'm not sure I'll be making it past this node on hard..

I have Spidey (praise web-slinging jesus), but have you tried Storm/BWGS combo. I was chaining Lightning Storm/Deceptive Tactics in the previous PVE with spectacular results. I would use Punisher as a third to laydown strike and attack tiles and cleanup with retribution. Bascially turns into a race between BWGS and Mags for enough purple to start the chain reaction.
  • AI has decided to have unlimited AP tonight
  • Punisher's l5 Retriubtion has been saving my butt in this one. Whittle those high levels down below 40% and BAM!
