On Galactus run 1 (Game feel vs Ultron)

This event was NOT fun and has brought back my resolve to not spend money on the game. I felt like this after True Healing but began enjoying game more with Gauntlet and DPD and so spent some money. But even the sale bonuses are not tempting me after this.
What an unhappy birthday MPQ0 -
Well the event is almost finished and after kicking and punching against a wall I wont have any good reward for all my work. My alliance is at round 6, with 1M to end, I am at 950k, I still have one refresh to do so I can get to 1050k so no cyclops and no legendary. This round has been a disaster for my alliance, I am the only one in the 4 transition, a couple have some maxed 3s and most are in the 94 level space, so their teams were just scratching Galaktus, they could do nothing against him. So the frustration is really high.
This is the worst, after fighting against all odds, we dont even have a nice reward.
Of course all my tokens gave me 2s, not even 1 dino.
WORST EVENT EVER.
Ps: I will keep playing, but for me this is again strike 2. One more of this **** and I am out.0 -
You really had us all fooled into thinking this was going to be a good anniversary, but its not fun in the least bit. Your tokens in both Galactus and anniversary are horrible. I have gotten nothing good out of this event at all. I want to play Galactus but you make me as well as my entire alliance not want to play. You guys really ruined this event . I will certainly not put any money into this game now if this is how you guys wanna play.0

At first I was just disappointed in how bad this event was and that I wouldn't be able to get very far into it because all but 4 members of my Alliance have up on it before round 4 ended. After the way that they responded to it though that's what makes me flabbergasted /angry.
So you intended this to be almost unwinnable and we should just sick it up an and keep banging or heads against the wall and it's not your fault that we just didn't get it? I'd that's how you talk to your customers is good to know I can take the time abs money I've invested into this game over the past 2 years and put into another game that intends to be challenging but still winnable and fun.
Seriously, how can you talk to customers like this and think it's Ok? What other business could/would talk to its customers like this? Imagine if you had a resteraunt and for weeks you advertised your great anniversary meal and then when customers told you its so terrible they can only eat a few bites and you respond "this meal was designed not to be able to be eaten more than a few bites, you should have known that despite nothing in our ads indicating it. If you think it's terrible you just don't have a refined enough pallete so this is on you fella"
How long do you think a business that did something like that would stay in business after that?0 -
Devs, you should unlock Galactus fora certain amount of time before the game ends and let us have a free for all without the nodes to make up for time lost in the server mess... My alliance could use it!0

Future fight makes this game look like the rich man who drops crumbs on the poor and then complains when they say their hungry the next day.
Alliance mate told me try Future Fight yesterday. I played for 8 STRAIGHT HOURS in between galactus refreshes. Never ran out of energy. Never had to spend a dime on roster slots for the 16 characters I picked up in 8 hours. Still had energy left when I went to bed. Will definitely give them the money I had earmarked for MPQ.0 -

Strange, that sounds like me as soon as I started playing MPQ
Prologue and 5 health packs, along with the many early prologue healthpack rewards, did keep me going at the game early on for quite some time!
It was actually pretty darn fun, fast and rewarding and junk until you hit the 3* wall.0 -

This is almost exactly where I am on it too. With some luck, I can probably do another 100k to him, but with half my alliance quitting the event out of frustration I doubt we'll have enough to down round 6 in one more refresh. If they added a day I'd slog through it in hopes of Cyclops, but I'd prefer what they did on one of the Ultron events that had a lot of downtime - give individuals and alliances the reward one step up from what they got in points. Then at least everyone who made it all the way to round 6 and hit a brick wall would still get a cover. It doesn't really compensate for the not-fun play experience, but at least we won't feel like all that time was such a waste.0 -
The "minion" fights against the villains are relatively simple. They're there as minor hazards but relatively easily winnable.
Lvl300 loki with 2 kishus say otherwise
I cannot take them out quickly with match 4s and 5s because loki will drain all my ap.. if i dont take them out quickly, the kishus will spam smoke bombs, making my damage ****, and spam caltrops all over the field, dealing 1.4k damage per accidental match
You all have some very sadistic combinations this time round0 -

What we intend, and continue to drill in on is that we want players to have a broad mix of characters instead of a Top 3 that is their sole team to play with. In Versus this is a bit rougher of a prospect as players that battle have their last winning team placed on defense. So it's not always the best idea to fight with a less powerful defensive team in order to make up more points. That's something that we're always thinking about. We've discussed allowing players to set a defensive team, but with many other games out with similar versus situations this results in a very precise meta-game where an extremely large percentage of the user base chooses the same defenders. That's not a very fun time for most
Side track to the scaling thread, and rant: Then why the tinykitty do you use just the top three characters for scaling?!?! That's what blows things up for players who get a 5* or who go to 166 with a 3* too early. You force people who make a mistake or do something that should be logical in context of a game to either build that 3-person team or dance around with soft caps.
It's amazing that this game is as good as it is in spite of the devs.0 -

I'd give credit for the quote, but I'm kinda brain-farting on who said it...
Wasn't it Ice on true healing?

One of the intentions with this change is to cut down on things like Prologue Healing, which prolongs play time through something that is pretty obviously just a time intensive process that doesn't involve actual strong gameplay. It's something people do because it's there, much like tanking. It's not something that's fun. It's not something that's enjoyable. It's something that exists and is taken advantage of because of pure efficiency.
What we intend, and continue to drill in on is that we want players to have a broad mix of characters instead of a Top 3 that is their sole team to play with.
Something smells funny. Considering this quote and Galactus, is there an inconsistent philosophy? Or just the desire to say anything as justification?0 -

See, this is the kind of post that only hurts the credibility of the very legitimate criticism the event deserves. I saw your roster, you have plenty of tools to clear that node easily and yet here you are, adding it to the list of wrongs despite the fact it isn't poorly designed or leveled. Ice probably should not have said what he said about essential nodes difficulty but you bringing up this node to the discussion only reinforces in devs the perception that the player base is just a vocal minority of entitled guys who don't know how to play this game, want an easy win and rare covers for everyone.0 -
OK, so according to D3, the Galactus event was intentionally designed to slaughter our roster, in order to stay true to the comic book story line, and that beating Galactus should feel like an accomplishment. There are a number of things wrong with this statement from a logic and comic book standpoint, but also, a strong suggestion on how the event could be dramatically improved.
1. It's true that Galactus is considered to be a force of nature in the Marvel Universe, and is considered to be one of the most powerful entities in the entire Universe. This is a being who can literally eat worlds. Got it. SO HOW CAN A TEAM OF THREE HEROES EVER BEAT GALACTUS?!?! They can't. Period. Even the entire roster of Marvel heroes can't do much more than annoy him, unless they have the so called "ultimate nullifier".
2. OK, so none of our heroes can beat him. If you wanted to stay true to the comic story, none of our heroes would EVER beat him. So logically, you admit he is an unbeatable force of nature and that we are supposed to lose, yet we can win.....some of the time? This doesn't make any sense. Either he is beatable, or he isn't. Which is it? He has only been convinced to spare earth in the past, never defeated by a group of Marvel heroes. He did die once, but it didn't take.
3. So here is a suggestion, as I don't want to be negative. If you are going to say the event was designed to follow marvel story lines, than do so. Why even call it "defeating" Galactus? Why don't you just have the round be defeating the ships of Galactus, or the different heralds, with increasing difficulty. The heralds are powerful yes, and you could make the levels challenging, but all of them have been beaten in the comics by groups of heroes (or by Spidey alone, when it comes to Firelord).
4. Tha could actually be fun, although it would be more difficult to make these new characters rather than fairly simplistic Galactus event (he really doesn't do much new except murder ur whole team with one blast).
5. Next, make a final Galactus fight for the alliance, but instead of having waves of bad guys, allow us to use waves of good guys. When one goes down, we can send in another. Galactus shouldn't have 40k health a fight anyway (and if you say that's not his total health, the 5 million is, then why is it such a big deal if we damage him for 40k?....Notice the contradictions?). Give Galactus a buttload of health. Let us send in waves of heroes to whittle him down, until Torch finally shows up with Ultimate Nullifier and he goes away.
6. Finally, and I have to admit I assumed you were going to do this, why not loan everyone a max fully covered surfer for the final fight? That would actually be FUN (please notice the use of this term), would 100% be in keeping with the comic storyline and would give everyone the chance to get some damage in. Which again would be F...U...N! I only emphasize the word, as apparently, this word has been forgotten when making new events.
Anyway, I am assuming you will ignore this post as you have all the others. But I hope you don't. Galactus could be fixed. It could be made into a challenging event, like you want, but one that is fair and FUN, which is what WE want.0 -
I still hope this event is a cruel joke and the devs come out and tell us how they got us good and then hand everyone in this event a 4* cyclops and a free roster slot, because this is an anniversary and it's meant to bring joy to all.
But we'll most likely get an anniversary token for a free moonstone and that'll be the end of that.0 -
First of all, we are probably on a disconnect because you provided very little information about this event prior to the start. There was even posts saying that this event would be similar to the Ultron event, but yet here you are now saying it's not. A little communication before an event like this starts would probably have much fewer people up in arms. The lack of communication, and this sure as hell isn't the first time, shows a complete ineptitude on your part. Secondly, this has to be one of the worst events I have seen in MPQ. I have no problem with it being difficult, but when you are only able to win a certain round by pure luck/cascades/starting board, then that is no longer considered on a scale of difficulty. The event has been poorly run from the onset. And you honestly have got to be joking with the percentages for covers in this anniversary event. You, as a company, should be ashamed at how poorly the last 3 days have been. The disconnect that matters is your disconnect to your player base.0

Allow me to predict their Monday response:Hey gals and guys! Thunderbolt Ross is coming to Marvel Puzzle Quest, and you can head over to Marvel.com right now where our producer is interviewed about our newest four-star character, Red Hulk!
I wish I was kidding, but this is my legitimate expectation.
On the aside, I also have faith at minimum half of these comments wouldn't be present had they decided to market the event with something along the lines of...Hey gals and guys! To celebrate our second Anniversary of Marvel Puzzle Quest we're introducing one of the most diabolical threats to Earth's survival: Galactus!
Galactus will star in his own boss event with some paralles to our previous Avengers vs. Ultron events, but this has quite a few differences from the event structure of our favorite, Avengers-hating robot. Galactus is fiendish, impatient and will spell doom for all who stand in his way. He will pose a threat unlike any you have encountered in Marvel Puzzle Quest. Almost all will fall to Galactus in a single confrontation, but if you persevere and keep a sustained assault on the Devourer of Worlds with your alliance, you may yet ensure the continued existence of Earth. Beating Galactus three-on-one is no small undertaking, and those who manage to defeat Galactus in one fight will find rewards which would make even Tony Stark's bank account jealous. (i.e. totally not a critical boost or anything like that).
Survive long enough with your alliance to earn our newest four-star character: Classic Cyclops! Careful though, as the penalty for insolence against Galactus is swift and deadly! Also, beware Earth's supervillains who, with the heroes away, are stirring up chaos in a selfish rage. Besting these supervillain nodes will give you faster access to a rematch with the Devourer of Worlds!
Have fun celebrating our second anniversary, just don't get careless when Earth hangs in the balance!
Sure, the event would still be a Pyrrhic grind, but at least we wouldn't be mislead into thinking "Oh, he gets harder as the event progresses but we can still make noticeable dents in his health without fail."0 -
