They had a year to plan for the anniversary.
We know designing new PVEs takes time, yes.

But with a year of preparation, and no movie tie-in to force their hands they come up with _this_?
No story whatsoever, just round after round after round of using the one loophole that makes this winnable?

Django will finish Round 8, and I'm afraid that we're sending the wrong message.
No, this has not been a fun experience.
No, player engagement is not high because the anniversary is fun.

I really hope their actual sales figures are _way_ below their forecasts so that they're forced to make some changes in the future.

Last year's anniversary was awesome - a funny new char, great token odds, 20 people LRs.

This year? The very same char (who most people who were around for last year's anniversary have fully covered), nerfed token odds, no LRs.

This is _not_ how you keep long term players happy.

Doesn't matter though, I'm sure new players make more than up for us.
  • There is nothing good at this boss, seriously what's the point of a boss that kills you at turn 3? It's not like, a super difficult challenge , where you have to make your best strategy to beat it. It's a simply **** meaningless boss. You cant make a strategy against him. You only need a incredible luck to make insane cascades, and maybe defeat him, maybe. I'm very disappointed with D3. I'm really hope that they dont sh*t on us again, when they re-run this event.
  • Given the tiny alliance I have, mostly family members of which I'm the most active player we are barely through round two, I'm not surprised as my roster are early stage 3* transition ish. But to say some guys have rosters with a 4* heavy set up and are still getting thwarted easily that says only one thing, difficulty level is beyond silly.

Under the futile exterior and disappointment factor there is underneath a potential for a hugely enjoyable event. I think the devs should listen to the suggestions and retweek this in such a way that it becomes a joint effort. A made for fans by the fans feel event.

Now, for anniversary three how about a weapon x event and introduce Maverick and sabretooth into the mix?

I'm not sure that's going to be accurate, for this event. The number of people who have joined the forums for the first time solely to voice their dislike for this event is pretty high. And as with any area in which people voice their views, for every 1 who joins to do so, there are a chorus of others who are at least thinking the same thing.

Hopefully the amount of refunds being asked for, and people posting about not spending money now, will also have an effect.
  • And now in Rd 8 some of the ESS nodes are gonna take you to Brown Town. The swatting sucks, much hate, but combined with now over scaled ESS, by your own admission supposed to be "easy wins", not cool. icon_cry.gif

If everyone had played Dark Vortex instead of Galactus, possibly the whole playerbase would be a) swimming in iso, b) be at around 1300 pvp points.

I started playing shorty after last years anniversary event so I personally can't compare it to this years but from everything I've read last years sounded like it was actually fun. I don't know in what stretch of the imagination this even can be considered fun. Even the rewards really can't make up for the lack of fun because no once when I actually defeat Galactus did I get a Recruit Token, most of the time it was just 40 ISO.

Mostly I wanted to post my dislike for this event so the devs to count me as someone who is having fun with this event because I'm figuring that they are counting all the people who are not complaining here as those who are having fun.

    Worst event ever.

I cannot express my feelings without breaking the filter and then getting a pm about language. And i'm not a fan of foul language, yet there is not an eloquent way of saying how horrible this event is, how it makes me feel, and how the response from IceIX (i know he's just the messenger) was so off base and inappropriate that silence and server outage for the rest of the event would have been better.

Galactus is different. The "minion" fights against the villains are relatively simple. They're there as minor hazards but relatively easily winnable. Galactus on the other hand is a massive threat. He's not going to be stopped by gnats. Iron Fist punching him in the toe isn't very painful. So he gets bored and swats them away. In game terms, this means that players are going to be beaten. Winning a round against Galactus is an achievement.

I've done it! After wiping out five time in a row I beat him! Achievement! Reward!

    ..oh.
  • I honestly wouldnt be surprised if they were getting ready to pull support for this game and were using this as a last resort cash grab. In the 6 months they have been using more and more cash grab tactics (new characters everyother week 4 stars to boot, higher health pool for everyone (pve health pack grabs), and now this celebration "event". The problem is i dont know another game that is trying to turn a f2p into a cash grab as blatently as this event is. Hate to tell you but usually new character drops are enough to sustain player base with buying new packs in f2p. I dont remember the last time i purchased a 10 pk with my hero pts simpily because of how far in the game i am i realise its not worth it to have 3% chance for a char i want. They need to grow the player base to gain money not chase the 3star 4star land tier. Simple way to do that, GREATLY increase the odds of a certain char drop in the 10pk 20-30 %. New players buy it for their fav character old players get it to help cover their top 100 pve event.

Galactus event is not my idea of a celebration. As i said before it screams money grab and run. How many people that just started are going to feel like continuing to play after an event like this. I would feel like there is no point to playing if this is as hard as the whole game. As people before have stated, the enjoyment factor of celebration is not lining up with the event. Last year was a truly special time. This year its a chore to play. Minor changes would be welcom to second run (higher hp pool, easier (minor) goons, cosmic wrath maybe only taking out one character (or have it be a countdown tile rather than super blast).

I think I cant get more angry/frustrated about and event. After all is said, my new offender

    In round 6:

Easy battle (iceix words): 310 Ragnarok with two goons feeding him green and blue !!!! So he can heal every two turns and cast Godlike power every three (execpt one time where the goon created one bomb). I managed to win, after he wiled my JG, and left my xforce (essential) and IMHB almost deads.

The nodes have been progressively getting more difficult, but not when I get to a new round, so I think we have Community Scaling turned on!!! Has anyone noticed, Am I right?

Well lock and load cleared round 8 also. Just coming here to say it was not fun. We did not enjoy the event.

You also don't get the last reward the 3rd cyclops cover. It may show up after the event is over but it doesn't come once you win.

Please cancel round 2 if substantial changes are not made.

Perhaps they are setting themselves up to make sure next year's anniversary is awesome (relatively speaking of course). Hard to imagine it could be any worse.

About this have to lose thing, I think somebody already said it but How many times have Galaktus beaten FF or the Avengers? How many times have he devoured the Earth? Even squirrel girl has beaten Galaktus!

Sometimes I think that devs doesnt know anything about comicbooks and what it means for us playing with Marvel heroes and villains...

    1. rewards are worse than regular PVE ( no 3* cover reasonably attainable and LT... forget it)
    2. concept was good, but execution was not. Actual game-play involves way more luck than strategy.
    3. alliance got first cyclops cover, but not happily, a lot of chat about not liking event (health pack maintenance, money grab etc.)

I realize what I summarized is nothing new, I just wanted to make sure it is known that the dislike of this event was not just a few people.

I'm not a huge upvoter (mostly preferring to thank the person with a note) but I've never upvoted so many posts in a single thread before.

How many layers of people approved this anniversary stuff?

Leaving PvE aside, was no one in either organisation (Demiurge or D3GO) brave enough to ever stand up and say "Actually, launching (another) character is not so unique, we do it every 2nd week" and "Having a sale is fun but we do that already all the time" or "Hey... if I was the average Joe Blow player would I feel about the shocking odds of our "best" token of the year?".

I don't know why, but given you struggle with the presentation of some things that don't come under the banner of new character release (and you really struggle with expressing anything slightly more challenging), I'd say there are deeper problems than a poorly thought out anniversary event.

On the plus side, I've never seen the forums so continuously busy - only comparison might be True Healing.

After realizing the devs aren't going to scale down the "luck factor" for galactus, I only ask that they make the personal progression more obtainable. Most of my Alliance has given up due to weak rosters and inability to complete any node, but the few of us that are left keep pushing in an effort for personal progression legendary token. My Alliance is stuck in round 5, with only about 3 of us actually playing every reset. I've only lost to galactus twice in the entire run (obw, torch, xf), but even if I hadn't lost I wouldn't be able to hit progression because of the points I am missing out on by being stuck in earlier rounds for so long. It's pretty upsetting that I can't even make personal rewards without an alliance to back me up. At least in regular events, if my Alliance sucks it up, I can still clear personal progression.
  • You know I can really understand the frustration with the tokens/rewards... I took part in last year's anniversary as a somewhat newbie and it really helped my roster progress...

I will also say that at the beginning of the Galactus event or somewhere around RD 4 I began to get frustrated with losing... My alliance and I complained, shared stategies, and eventually began to figure some things out... We are knocking on on the door of Round 8...

My point is this... Out of all this complaining about the "difficulty" level, how many people with at least a decent roster dug deep and thought about how to solve Galactus... I mean went through your entire roster, grabbed pen and paper, whatever it took... I have a decent roster and guess what folks I can beat him about 85% of our matches with about 3 different teams! It took a few hours and a couple rounds of determination but it can be done... Oh, and here is the clincher.... Wait for it... "I win almost every time with two 3 stars and a 2 star"....

I still agree that the event itself should be more fun... Honestly, Galactus has been an unrewarding grind but the alliance is pushing as hard as it can just for the pride of saying a PVP Alliance did great in a historic PVE...

I think you forgot to say that the goons generate AP for rags to heal/godlike power, juggs to headbutt and crash
