Very true assessment, but you won't make many friends with it icon_mrgreen.gif

You ain't been grinding enough. I was seeing quite a few of those earlier but it's a 141 convention now. Quite a few as well pairing Thor with someone I couldn't understand, but I've already forgotten who. Spidey? Things might change up more once people have had time to level alternatives, but I'm seeing variation really only in 3*-heavy teams. Even after the nerfs, who are you going to use at 2* besides the usual 3? Ares, Daken at a stretch, and...

Am I missing something in people using Hulk, Spider-Man, Passenger ****, or are they just extraordinarily patient? Smash does nice damage, I guess. Once, to one target, with minutes of set-up.

As far as I remember, your back of an envelope calculations on that ignored the fact 5 steals purple as well, which is the whole point of 5. It is excessively good for a 3 at 3/5, though. It must be, or why would anyone put that 5th point in Espionage that does approximately nothing? It might be too fast "in certain situations", but in my experience if you do get it loaded fast you invariably wait before actually using it.
  • currently sitting on 164 points right now with 3 guys queued for 110 points altogether. my question is should i wait for a few hours before i push on or get to 300 and then stop until the last couple hours??

I would say edge up slowly beforehand, depending on when you plan to make your final push and what the top of your bracket looks like. If you try to do a very long push later on, when more people are playing, it's more likely that retaliations would come thick and fast during the push. So better to push, wait out retaliations, and then push and shield.

Lol Passenger ****. I run Spidey, Hulk, Patch. The meta is to score defense wins, and to have your opponent hung up on having to eat away at so much health. I can run through a battle in 2 mins on non Hulk/IM40 squads. With IM40/Hulk, you're looking at 4-5 mins. Hulk/IM40 are great deterrents at the last hour of a tourney.

    Still a lot of Thors.
    And lots of Spidey's.

Man, I hate a high-level Spiderman on defense team. If you pair him with almost any popular 85 level 2* (Wolvie, Thor) or over 100 level 3* (Punisher, IM40, Patch, Hulk) it's going to be pain in the mule trying to first squish Spidey and then his compadres. And even if you manage to deny Spidey the blue matches his team mates probably end up with other colors to do their action. Thor have mercy on me if it happens to be enemy Patch's red... icon_e_sad.gif

I'm actually very much in favor of nerfing Spidey's blue. And this is from a guy who has a 2/4/2 Spiderman himself.
  • ok i pushed on a little bit and am on 347, no attacks on me yet, and dont plan on playing until last 2 or 3 hours. Not shielded either as i only shield once a tourny and thats near the end. I really dont want those moonstone covers lol

Hulk and IM40 does not deter Patch right now though, because an extra 5000 HP is like 6 rounds once Berserker Rage gets going with a stunlock.

It'd be interesting to see how the game unfolds when stunlock is no longer trivially achieved.

That's only if you get lucky enough to avoid your green strike tiles and continually match blue and avoid environment tiles. It's a tall order in crunch time when avoiding being hit multiple times while in battle.
  • I'm now third, having shielded as fifth, due to picking up some defence points / other people unshielding and dropping off.

Still no wiser to the best strategy for these, but I'm hoping this works this time, for this player... icon_eek.gif

    Come on top five finish!

(I've a feeling I should stop looking. Can only jinx myself...)
  • Shielded in 3rd with 800+ points. I hope that's good enough for Top 5. My bracket is awfully competitive, despite joining 12 hours late, which usually puts me in a fairly easy bracket. The leader has almost 900 points.
  • I'm shielded in second with about 760, and that's probably it for the tournament - hoping for top 5 (I have no Doom blue covers); could live with top 15. Anyone who sees me feel free to attack while you can.

My mmr felt okay for this tournament; nearly every team I faced was DD under 20th level, and OBW and Astonishing at 80th+ level, which were pretty easy for my 75th Ares and Astonishing plus ~45th level DD. One nice thing as I was consistently able to find people over 25 points up until the last 100 or so points, and even then I could at least find people over 20.
  • lol i love it when this happens, especially when i dont even have a good team

I think I'm losing less points pre 600. (Point loss reduction modifier)
If so, this is most welcome.
  • I'm not seeing any change to point reduction formula, but the ability to actually win your defense some of the time makes it more likely you'll have a good score, and it also slightly discourages people attacking you if their team is relatively weak.

I saw that I was only losing like 17 points to someone with a lower score than me while I was sitting at around 500+ points.
    Wanting to double check though.

That's what I saw too, at least up to 500 you're definitely losing less than what the attacker gained.
  • win 2 matches gain 40 points, get attacked and lose 46, pointless exercise.

i'm just grinding for the ISO, but i made it up to 4th in my bracket with M.Storm 50 and OBW 43. The desert level + storm's red and green power is just crazy easy to win.
