This doesn't even go into the level changes in ISO costs, which damn well BETTER compensate those of us who have been working to put ISO into characters only to have the total cost sliced.

I'm reading that as the amount of iso to take a level 40 to 166 stays the same and that they're changing it so that the lower levels are cheaper and making the higher levels more expensive.

Problem is what happens to your level 100ish guys. Did the cost to raise them just increase?

"Finally, we’re making some changes in level-up costs for 3-Star and 4-Star characters. In order to help players get their 3-Star and 4-Star characters into a useful state more quickly, we’re making it cheaper to level them up at lower levels. We don’t have final numbers at the moment, so stay tuned."

As if the Xforce Nerf wasn't enough, this is what we get. I don't think they are realizing that the problem isn't getting the lower levels up, the problem is dumping all that iso into 1 (ONE) character when there are another 100 (hundred?) of them sitting on the bench. I don't understand who has calculated the actual worth of all these resources. Where do all these values come from?!?!

I'm a numbers guy. I wanna know why a 4* cover (albeit the characters do feel like 3*s) is worth 2500HP (~20$) and a 3* Character is 1250HP. I wanna know why it takes ~400-500$ to level up a 4*. Where did that worth come from? Was it calculated? Is it wheel of fortune style? It's "MIND BOGGLING"
I'll tell you why: it's a F2P gimmick. Whales don't make rational decisions! They don't have a budget or a cost/improvement ratio that they dare not cross.

You're a math guy, so you'll understand what I mean when I say that everything in this game is non-linear. If you want more, you have to pay or play more than you did before.
  • Wow, this is going to be an ENTIRELY different game. Even I (who thinks the Thor nerf was fine) have to say you went too far on poor XForce though icon_e_sad.gif
  • I'm out. Not worth the time

So for those of you that still think this is a wall of text and hard to read. I copied my post edit from the last thread to here.

So looking at this, still need to evaluate the abilities, but this format does not look good. Suggest editing it so new abilities are up top grouped together with current below it. Will edit this post when I go back over it.

    Invisible Woman (Classic)
Invisible Woman is our 2nd oldest 4-Star character and has been waiting patiently for an update for a long time. When we originally designed her, we were balancing for a version of the game with longer, more difficult matches. In that version of the game, powerful, high-cost powers have more use and damage prevention is more powerful. When re-evaluating her abilities, we had a big focus on utility. Her two unique powers got a lot cheaper, allowing players to use them much more frequently. She should be locking tiles and making people invisible all the time, not occasionally at the end of the match.

    Elektra (Unkillable) - Coming 4/17/15
Elektra is a very unique character in MPQ. She plays very differently from other characters in that she is capable of dealing huge amounts of damage but only indirectly. She’s also the only character in the game who can stop any amount of damage. Shadow Step - Cost: 10 Black AP - OLD[/b]

    Wolverine (X-Force) - Coming 4/17/15
X-Force was our first 4-star character. He’s been through a few incarnations, some too weak and some too powerful. We’ve realized that we’d made him too powerful compared to other characters, especially the AP generation and cascade potential of his most recent Black and Green abilities. We’ve re-designed him to bring those abilities into line. The damage of Surgical Strike and Recovery had room to grow, so we’ve increased that as part of this rework.

    OLD
    X-Force - Cost: 8 Green AP - OLD
Wolverine unleashes his berserker rage, cutting with his adamantium claws. Deals 164 damage and destroys 5 tiles in a 3x3 X-Shaped pattern. Does not generate AP.

    + Deals 1030 damage.

MAX LV 5: Deals 3441 damage and destroys 15 tiles in 3 3x3 X-Shaped patterns

Surgical Strike - Cost: 11 Black AP - OLD
Wolverine attacks with ruthless precision, crippling his enemy’s ability to retaliate. Destroys every tile in the enemy team’s strongest color, dealing 32 damage per tile.
    Upgrades:
+ Deals 87 damage per tile.
+ Deals 137 damage per tile.
+ Also drains the enemy’s strongest AP pool by 10 AP.
+ Deals 265 damage per tile. Destroyed tiles now generate AP.
MAX LV 5: Deals 522 damage per tile.

Recovery - Cost: 9 Yellow AP - OLD
Wolverine’s healing factor repairs his wounds, and he ferociously lashes out if interrupted. Places a 3-turn Yellow Countdown tile that heals for 1187 health when activated. If the Countdown tile is matched, Wolverine destroys 6 random tiles, dealing 32 damage per tile.

    Beast (Classic) - Coming 4/17/15
We think we captured the essence of Beast as a character, but he wasn’t very useful, and players didn’t feel there was a strong reason to bring him to a fight over other characters. Considering that the bulk of Beast’s power banks on the presence of Blue special tiles, we made his Blue more reliable. The original design made it too easy to match away the special tiles it created, but this re-design solves that problem. We also increased the strength of his other two powers.

    Old Max Health: 6,800
Mutagenic Breakthrough - Cost: 8 Blue AP - OLD

Animal Inside - Cost: 9 Green AP - OLD
Jumping and slashing as he moves through enemies, Hank can barely control his animal side. Deals 137 to all enemies. If there’s a friendly Blue Special tile on the board, Beast smashes up his lab destroying 3 random tiles, each dealing 33 to all enemies, but not generating AP.

Doctor Octopus (Otto Octavius) - Coming 4/17/15
Doctor Octopus is an interesting take on a utility character. He manipulates the game board and reacts to actions instead of directly damaging other characters. He has a huge breadth of ability effects, but there are a lot of times when only a few of those effects are useful. We wanted to really focus on increasing the usefulness of his different powers with this update.

    Old Max Health: 6,800
Manipulation - Cost: 11 Blue AP - OLD
Dr. Octavius reaches out with his mechanical arms to use controls and devices, smashing enemy plans easily. Swaps 8 pairs of random tiles, destroying any swapped enemy Attack tiles, and dealing 110 damage for each tile destroyed.

    She-Hulk (Modern) - Coming 4/17/15
She-Hulk also has a wide variety of powers. Her Blue power was overly complex, and useful only in very specific situations, and the power to give her team a burst of health doesn’t really fit into her comic book persona. We’ve updated both her Green and Blue abilities with the goal of making them simpler and more useful.

    Old Max Health: 10,200
Settlement - Cost: 9 Blue AP - OLD
She-Hulk flexes her legal muscle, striking a deal to balance the scales of justice. Replaces up to 2 Protect, Strike or Attack tiles with Strike Tiles distributed between you and the enemy team. Character Health Update - Coming 4/17/15
As you may have noticed, many of the characters listed above have received updates to the amount of health they have. They are just the tip of the iceberg! Most characters are going to be receiving a health upgrade. Characters with less health are getting the biggest increase, while characters with a relatively high amount of health aren’t changing at all. Here’s a list of all the characters that are going to be affected.

Lower-health characters trade health for stronger powers, but the health penalty they were paying was too large compared to how much stronger their powers were getting. This update lowers the health penalty they pay.

Iso-8 Leveling Costs Update - Coming in R75

Okay, now that this is easier to read here's my thoughts.

    Invisible Woman
Overall, I like this, makes her a lot more useable and a great defensive character. Thank you for removing the Ending turn off of the Green.

    Elektra
Meh, health boost and damage boost. Would have liked to have seen her purple do something if they didn't have any strike tiles the first time you used it. AP steal at the very least, c'mon...

    X-Force
Black and Yellow are fine in my opinion, but why did you have to hit the Green so heavily? Even at the 3K mark, it doesn't one shot any 3*'s and this wasn't the part of him that was bonkers. You guys cut way too much damage off this even if you thought it needed to be lowered. 3k to 1 k is a huge drop in usefulness.

These are the only ones I really feel like commenting on to be honest, as they needed to be reworked as they were 4*'s and not even in a tier level that would have been fair to them. I expect a large outcry from X-Force players, largely in part due to the massive damage decrease that has happened with the Green ability.
  • I was on the fence about quitting, now I am done. Requesting a refund of all purchases made through mpq and wilk be first in pine for the class action law suit. Sucket people into investing time and money then nerf every character they worked or paid to get.

So work hard to save up HP. Selling characters to make space for new ones so I don't have to buy roster slots. Spend 5000! Freaking! HP! to get the last two XF covers I needed. 2 weeks later, maybe even less time, he gets nerfed. I wasted 5000 HP!

You bait customers in to getting the best characters and then once you think people won't be spending any more on the covers you nerf them to be useless.
This is a terrible business practice! You don't deserve to have people pay for anything you create!

  • And in one of the smallest changes to a character ever made Elektra goes from bleh to meh. Double Double Cross STILL doesn't create a strike tile if none exist on the other side, and her black is still too expensive for what it does. It's great that it does 5x at 5 now, but it's cost should be reduced to 5 and damage cut in half to compensate. At the very least reduced to 7.

Did I miss it, or did xforce get the shaft in the health department as well?

Gonna get the popcorn. This is gonna be good.

Joking aside, the season where I had a decent sized roster and was going to start playing with shield hoping, they added timers. This season, I started putting in work to XF and he's been nerfed.

Once again, a day late and a dollar short.

    Right there with you team-mate.

This doesn't even go into the level changes in ISO costs, which damn well BETTER compensate those of us who have been working to put ISO into characters only to have the total cost sliced.

I hate the X-F nerf, but this is the part that concerns me most. Are those that leveled a bunch of 3*'s way up going to get an ISO refund? How does this help any developed roster that leveled evenly (like I did), so basically no characters are low level but also very few are maxed? This sounds terrible.

Of the buffs, I think Cage is going to be a monster. Almost 10K health and a free D tile every turn will be ridiculous.

    Ares 8AP Green - 1840 damage
    XForce 8AP Green - 1982.5 damage (average).

Yikes. Granted Ares doesn't have an 8k move to go with it, but yikes.

Merged the two threads, fixed the first post to have the nicer formatting, and deleted the later, nicer formatted post. Continue your angry mob. Pitchforks on the right, torches on the left.

Looks like I'm nerfing my wallet and game play. 5000 Hp into xforce in the last two weeks, straight into the toilet. 7500 hp into him all time. Complete waste of everything.

A month ago I was looking forward to getting every character in the game, and had most of them then. Now I'm wishing I never found this game.

I don't think you could have more thoroughly proven that you have no idea how to balance, that you DON'T play the game at a high level, that you don't want any kind of progression in your game beyond 3*, and that the only segment of your players that you care about are new to mid-level players.

I am now fully convinced that spending the time, effort and resources to cover and level a 4* is a complete waste.
  • ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You are nerfing Xforce? After all the negative changes you have made of late, YOU DO THIS? Do you not realize that for some of us that this is THE ONLY LEVELED 4* we have? Not only that, but we are constantly put up against maxed Xforce SHe Thor combos. Going up against the AI with a maxed xforce is the only thing that could bring balance to those matches and now YOU ARE TAKING THIS AWAY TOO! After everything you have already done to, PVP (which has made it exceptionally difficult to get 4* characters now, well done there by the way)? And then, you Buff the character that you have now made more difficult to get? D3, you have literally FLUSHED this game DOWN THE TOILET! Bravo, very well done. Next time, I recommend thinking things through before you make these changes. You might actually stop and consider how they might affect your loyal customers.

So X-Force is neutered, but hey, at least She-Hulk is playable now! That'll make the vets happy right? (just in case its not obvious, SARCASM guys, I'm using SARCASM) (seriously though, new she-hulk looks pretty neat)

Actually, She Hulk has become an upper 3* tier character, imo. 6 green to reduce 2 enemy AP colors? WOW. I'm going to field an AP reducing team of XF (for black), Hood, and She Hulk. Ms. Green is a much better character than Loki b/c of more health, plus red aoe. Good luck firing off abilities against this team! icon_twisted.gif

Whoah... no baby steps here I guess. My brain is gonna need a hot minute to process all of this, lol. So... what jumps out initially is that it seems like bigger health pools means longer matches (let's be honest.. this isn't fun when there's a competitive aspect), true-heal characters seem to have gotten a big boost in playability and now KK shoots up to darn near tops of my list.

At some point in time, ya'll are gonna need to nerf your own AI goons and such, just saying, that nerf bat needs to swing both ways pl0x.
