BBB might be able to help the people who are out hundreds of dollars for things they didn't pay for receive a refund. They have advised me not to submit a report until after the changes go into effect (which makes sense) so everyone should probably hold off until they do. You do need their address to file a report, just google it. It's public knowledge.0

Would it be possible to hold the Xforce change till the end of season? I think it would go over a little better letting people finish out the season as is then having a couple events to restructure their roster0

Anyone who thinks this is a good move by D3 is a huge richardhead.0

First sensible post in this entire thread i think.
Yes, i have spent money on this game (no i do not have x-force), but i have also spent money at many restaurants, and i tend to order the same thing.. if i go in one day, and the recipe has been changed, guess what... next time, i will order something different.. not file a complaint or scream for my money back.
Most people are screaming and hollering, without having yet even tried the new build, or seen what the buyback is going be... As with anything you buy, even an 80k car, nothing lasts forever, and it loses value, could have recalls etc.. Most people who paid for xforce (at least the ones i know personally) got loads of usage out of it, got loads of iso and covers because of it, and it had paid itself back many times over, and if they do not like the new skillset, they will take the buyback (even if it is a reduction, like trading in your old car).... That is called a normal response to a situation.0 -

Faulty analogy. We're discussing a digital construct, not subject to physical wear and tear. It could be said to be subject to shifts in the meta, and you can find toons in this game that have been left behind ... and several that were lemons from the git-go.
In this case, the item in question was a lemon, and then was upgraded, and now is to be downgraded.
It is not the specific change at the root of the ongoing frustration, but the developer's handling of such changes. Other games offer opportunities to respec, essentially a full refund (of sorts, a chance to respend the same resources by reallocating). The repeated changes imply there is no guiding architecture, no rule to keep things in balance, just throwing things at walls, seeing what sticks. Players are frustrated at having tried to make in-game decisions, and having the conditions those decisions were based on repeatedly changed, one direction and then another. Literally being jerked back and forth.
You go to your restaurant, let's say it's fast food because this game requires payment in advance, receive a random upgrade one visit, and the option of slop and rude service or a pennies on the dollar refund ... what is your opinion of that management?
My opinion of the management on 1 sloppy service compared to countless perfect ones? I would generally give them the benefit of the doubt. Pay in advance? I use restaraunt.com quite a bit, and buy gift cards (basically paying in advance) for the same restaurants over and over, so i can get discounts.
That aside, yes, the analogy may have been faulty, but some points do hold up.
Side note, the "vets" have seen many enhancements, releases, nerfs, re-nerfs, changes, etc... XForce is not the very first time they are changing a character. From everything i have read, it seems most people knew it was coming eventually. Did they over-do it? Possibly. But knowing how often things change in this game, i personally think there is some major over-reaction going on. Give it a month or 2, it will most likely change again, as will everything, and a couple months after that, it will change again, etc... The game is evolving, it will continue to evolve. Spending your money, knowing this, is a gamble.
Wait it out. Try it before you say you hate it.
Also, i stand by my statement, most who have spent money to max out Xforce, got their money's worth in iso, tokens, covers, etc.. from using him. If you JUST spent it all to max him, wait and see. We do not even know what the buyback is going to be, who knows, it may have all been worth it.0 -
aesthetocyst wrote:1 poor service versus many sloppy ones? I'm not sure about your experience with this developer, but it's been a litany of abuses in this relationship. Of liking the concept in spite of its presenter. The rebuttal I offered was not 1 failure versus many successes, but a record that's thoroughly hit-and-miss, up-and-down, back-and-forth.
Again, the frustration your seeing here is fueled not by any particular change, but a system that results in continual changes, and presents / handles them poorly. Focusing on trees enables attempt to excuse and entire forest of mediocrity.
As for my experience with this particular tree, I haven't spent any money on X-Force. I covered him long ago, when he was terrible. Leveled him, too. Gave D3P the benefit of the doubt that they would eventually realign him with the direction the game had taken. I will continue to use him as I play. And continue to be frustrated, so long as I play, as good faith is not reciprocated.
Your first line is what i am talking about. Hit and miss, back and forth. It appears they are at least trying.
Full disclosure, i work for a software company, and i know the horrific frustration of a release/patch working perfectly in testing environs, and crashing horrifically on full scale implementation, and also the ire of the customers when a feature they love breaks or is removed.
But here is the thing. For every 1 person who shouts and screams about the feature that is not working, you have hundreds who do not participate in forums, or call support, because they are very happy with the changes, or didn't even notice them.0 -
Hey Devs...
I paid more than 2000€ for this game. And you destroy it every time, when I found a way to make my roster competitive...
First you took away my beloved Patchneto. Then you trasformed Sentry to a joke!
And now you want to make X-Force unplayable!
You won't get any single € from me in the future...
I'm done with this game and with your policy to milk your customers!0 -
I lead a software development team, well I agree certainly bugs/ rollout issues can cause significant grief. That's not my interpretation of this issue. A more accurate example (IMO) would be selling a product with x,y and z features and later on deciding the product did too much and removing features.
The issue in this case is d3 sold a product under the pretense it had a specific feature set (in this case stats), later on (much later on) decided the stats did not fit with their plan and reduced them. Anyone who spent money to purchased the item based on this feature set deserves a refund.
Also another point how many players actually visit the forum and are aware this change is coming. There could potentially be a whole lot more pissed off players come this Friday.0 -

Other players do not spend real money, actually spend more time I get the covers.
So the point is, our HP earned for XF now is not the same as we saw when we purchased.
Those over power, unfair, need nerfed...that's not our problem!0 -

I dont understand why people feel like they should get there money back, a character respect or iso and HP refund sure. But what have you bought or played digitally and gotten your money back because of in game toon changes?
And MMO? They nerf and buff characters all day and you usually play for those monthly. You get a respect usually and thats it
Fighting game, Talk about having it ruff, you buy the game, maybe a dlc character, spend hundreds of hours playing and learning the characters only for it to be nerfed. You get....Nothing.
IMO D3 is doing and great job at compensating, they do however suck at balancing.
There must be multiple character designers, because some characters are really great and fun and then there are those that all seem to have that same "bad and staleness" about them.
I'd like to hear what the plans for MPQ are, as it stands the game is going to take forever just to finish matches now. Xforce was the only thing that made high end pvp and pve acceptable.0 -

I'm willing to bet that the same person designed Beast, Doc Ock and Quicksilver. They all seem to have a glaring issue with their design and a complexity that actually works against their effectiveness.
They need to promote the person that designed Cage, IF and Blade to oversee the design and implementation of ALL characters.0 -
Not sure if developers are still looking at this thread, but would it be possible to tell us what levels the ISO decrease will affect? I would like to know if there will be a difference in ISO spent maxing one of my characters from 133, or if I can just blow my ISO now and just not put anything into new characters for a bit.0

What if they went the way of Diablo 3, with seasonal characters? You lose them at the end of the season, but keep everything you won using them/put into them?0
-
STILL NO IN GAME NOTIFICATION OF THESE CHANGES?
****, D3!!!!
Get your act together. You've taken a decent game and made it garbage in the past 4 weeks.0
