I mean, some damage wouldn't go amiss either.

So basically his toolkit is a good Black, a terrible Green, a Yellow I constantly forget exists, and bad health. He really needs some help.

Totally agree. As others have stated, he's the only Wolverine without strike tiles. All they would need to do is have him add strikes to the board right before or after his green power. If they want to add some mechanic to his yellow too that would be great.

He's also the only Wolverine without a passive yellow.. I rather have 2*'s yellow over XFW. Green would be great if for every tile that is destroyed, it is replaced by a strike tile. As it stands, X-23 has a better green for the same cost.

Question on his green - Does the damage done by the tiles he destroys equal to the damage that XFW would do if he matched them, or is it the team damage?  I know that Juggernaut's green does damage equal to what Juggernaut would do, but I'm not sure about XFW.  In another thread, someone mentioned that his yellow is a better offensive weapon than his green is, and would heal him in a pinch.  Depending on who the tile damage is assigned to, that may very well be the case.

As far as I know, all powers that destroy tiles (and do damage for those tiles) uses the tile damage of the character who fired the power, other than for ensuing cascades (if any).

So, I'm looking for team mates for 4* Wolvie.
Characters that benefit from severe board destroy (and play well with a black user)
    •  4* Deadpool
    •  Polaris
Am I missing a 4* here? Most strike tile users can use mild boardshake, but don't really like severe board destroy (unless +Polaris).

Other than being a pure rainbow team (one ability for each color) I'm not sure how well Polaris goes with the two of them.  XFW and 4-star Deadpool are a very good combination, as Deadpool's purple puts the countdowns on the tiles that XFW destroys.  XFW's board shake might hit some of the tiles you get from Polaris's blue stun.

That being said, putting Polaris together with any two characters will make a decent team, so by all means use her if you've got her!

Sorry, I suppose I was unclear-- I just listed both because those were the only 4* characters I could think of that benefited from board destroy. I wasn't suggesting the three as a team.
I was thinking either Polaris/Wolvie/special tile maker (using Wolvie's various board destroy to hit the tiles, which triggers Polaris) or Wolvie/Deadpool/probably a battery (yeah, like you said, Wolvie's black having great synergy with Deadpool's purple).
I'm not totally happy with either, since as you said, you can combine a lot of characters with Polaris so while she is one of the few people that has actual synergy with Wolvie, it still feels a bit lackluster. And Wolvie/Deadpool takes forever and a day.
Which I why I'm looking for more synergy partners for Wolvie apart from those two. ;) But I'm having trouble finding other 4* who really benefit much from board destroy...

Ahhh... Got it.  Yeah, benefiting from board destruction is not very common at any tier.  The only other one I could think of off hand is War Machine with his Aerial Assault tile out, but there's no guarantee that XFW's abilities won't destroy it in the first place (unless you have it at LVL 5, in which case the tile is fortified.)

For extra board shake, you cold always add in Main Event Hulk.  Since you're presumably staying in the 4-star tier, we'll ignore 5-star Thor as a third for even greater board shake!

If you're looking for synergy of a different sorts, you might want to try Domino and/or Cloak and Dagger.  They don't really benefit from board destroy, but they're both capable of generating black for XFW's best ability.  In C&D's case they can also generate yellow for his healing.  The problem is that each of them share two colors with XFW, so you either need to find a good third that has the remaining two colors, or not worry about it.

Thank you for the suggestions! =D Today I've now had opportunity to try my freshly champed Wolvie with all of the things!
The problem I've had with Wolvie/C&D is that Surgical Strike, while it does great damage, is just not a very spamable skill. After firing it once, the board will be mostly depleted of the enemy's strongest colour. So while it would definitely speed him up at first, pairing him with a feeder has diminishing returns unless you can board-destroy even more often.
Domino/Wolvie is looking more promising because Domino is helping with mixing the board up regularly. Although the third would definitely need to be a damage dealer, because Domino/Wolvie otherwise mostly just rely on Wolvie's black. Nightcrawler, maybe? For more boardshake in purple and red/blue damage?

That said, C&D/Wolvie/Deadpool isn't bad; feeding Wolvie's black so Wolvie/Deadpool's black-purple synergy doesn't take ages works. Even if it depletes the board, at least that way you get the double-hit out of it.

I'm intrigued by the War Machine suggestion. I wouldn't have thought of him, but that's a good point. Though WM/Wolvie is a dream team of expensive abilities, so I tried running IM40 as a third so it wouldn't take forever. I think this can work. But I couldn't really test that much because I'm out of PvE nodes and it's the end of Sim, gonna come back to this.

(Also tried Polaris now. As lame as it is to suggest the most meta of meta characters as synergy, Polaris/Wolvie is so, so good for Wolvie. All his board destroy, including his normally very lackluster green@5, is made just so powerful by Polaris + a tile generator, any tile generator.
But yeah, it's not like the Polaris/tile generator shell needs him to function, they do just fine with other thirds obviously. Although, I do think Wolvie as a board destroy specialist brings enough different flavour to your run of the mill Polaris team that it's still worth mentioning and fun to run it.)
And yeah, I'd prefer sticking with 4*s. Because as fun as it is trying to make Wolvie work, using one of the top tier 5*s is a tiny bit cheating. That'd be like making 3* Elektra work by using C4rol to support her. It works, but it sure ain't 3* Elektra who's the one carrying that team. :P

I like to use XFW with Nightcralwer and 4*Juggernaut for maximum board-shake. This team has 5 out of 6 colour that can do board-shake and the result cascade (if there are in the colour of Juggernaut) can be devastating. Alternative, can also replace 4*Juggernaut with Karnak. This team has 6 colour can cause different degree of board-shake.
Can also use Main Event Hulk in place of Nightcrawler to have a board-shake focused team.
