First of all, there was no penalty to score when Fred fell down. It was a mistake.
Brasil didn't play well. I think the favs are Netherlands and Germany, and I think Belgium might be a surprise. Still waiting for another Italy game before I issue an opinion.
I wonder who the hell sent European teams to play in Manaus and the like. The weather is absurdly humid and hot. I myself can't stand it.
Tomorrow Brasil will play. I think we'll win that game, but I don't think we'll take the cup.
Two women, from memory. They share the account0 -
Grazzt wrote:Wow, you're a Brazilian football star?
Ha ha, I wish! We're actually two women who share the same account, as it's been said by Emeryt and Amanda.
I just said I was Brasilian because the Cup is taking place here, and because I want to point out that not all of us think we'll win the Cup.
Today Brasil is playing. We're expecting 2x0 for Brasil, excepting what we call "friendly whistle" - referees and the like giving us unfair advantages, like it happened in Brasil x Croatia.
I personally enjoyed the Cristiano Ronaldo nerf in Portugal x GermanyThat was one of the best Cup games so far, alongside Netherlands x Spain.

mohio wrote:I shouldn't be, but I'm surprised there wasn't a little more talk/discussion on the US game. I thought it was pretty exciting despite US playing very poorly for about the whole 2nd half and probably even a good chunk of the 1st. Obviously a positive result, and given the state of the Portugal team, things are looking up. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, plenty of great futbol to watch between now and then.
Soccer rates well below Nascar, a "sport" where you are entertained by watching someone drive in circles for 3 hours. That tells you all you need to know about why there is no big discussions from the US contingent.
I'm really concerned with the way Michael Bradley played yesterday. They just couldn't maintain any possession. Yes, Portugal will be shorthanded (the US likely will be too with injuries), but if the US play the same game they played against Ghana, they will lose. Obviously, 3 points and the US are surely through. 1 point, I still think they go through as long as Ghana takes another loss and the US are not embarrassed by the Germans. That 5 goal differential between the US and Portugal is huge right now.0 -
Portugal will win the two games left!0
-
Bradley's play concerns me too, but it's hard to imagine him playing worse so I'm hopeful it won't be a big problem. Hopefully they can work the injury replacements up to speed in the next couple days. If not we could have some serious issues.0
-
Well that was a very entertaining draw. Billy Ochoa played out of his mind! Probably a fair result as both sides had really good chances, and one that probably puts Brazil through as I don't see them losing to Cameroon. I'm going to assume Croatia eliminates Cameroon tomorrow, which would setup a fantastic Mexico-Croatia tie.0
-
I don't expect Bradley to play that poorly again. That was the worst I've ever seen him play. If Altidore can't go, Johannsson is going to have to be much better as a little more possession will be required against Portugal.
Today's Brazil Mexico game was the most exciting 0-0 tie I've seen in some time. Ochoa was the man of the match by a wide margin...Mexico's relentless D was solid, but he still had to come up with a few big saves. Brazil is lucky to have 4 points currently.
Actual MPQ talk now...Regalis, you keep popping up in my queue for the Hood pvp. I'm going to hit you once and be done with it...I would appreciate if you do the same. I have no interest in retaliation wars.0 -
Actually, you can crush me if you want. I've left my alliance and I'm only playing this game on bathroom breaks and such now.0

Brazil has no good Centre Forwards and only Oscar as a legit midfield playmaker. I'll be surprised if we get past next round.0

Yep, agree with you. Our only good midfield player is Oscar. If we want to have more creative moves, we need either Bernard or William.
But we're not counting ON Brasil doing much. I mean, with all due respect, Mexico isn't a strong team - they barely made it into the Cup - and Brasil can't even beat them.
Right now, our vote goes to Germany. Not so hot about the Belgium game.
@Regalis: if you've quit playing the game for real, does that mean you'll no longer beat us four times in a row as you used to? THANK YOUPhew, with our crazy MMR, that'll be a relief.

I've adopted Belgium as my world cup country.
I think they clearly started with the wrong team. Once Mertens came on the team came alive more. I wonder if the early game time meant that they were still sleepy or something.
I think they'll be able to address the issues they had and come back a lot stronger.
I had much higher hopes for Lukaku and I felt that taking him off wasn't a solution at all as the midfield never really gave him a chance.
Anyone here play Fantasy Football for the World Cup?0 -
Belgium took forever to get going today...but they got the win.
Russia is lucky to escape with a point, or unlucky to not have won the game. There was so much going on during the Russian goal, Kerzhakov looked offside to me. But it's easy for me to say that watching the game and having slow mo and replay. As an official that is a bang bang play and very tough to see in a split second...I've definitely missed calls like that one as an AR.
I've also already read that the game was fixed...sheesh.0 -

I've felt Brazil were overachievers and Mexico were underachievers. Mexico were quite poor under Chepo, but once he got sacked they've played much better, especially once the Hex ended.
Germany looked good but Portugal aren't a great team. I think Holland''s win was much more impressive. Belgium were clearly a disappointment for a team that everyone is expecting to shine. As an American, I'm not fearing anyone in group H should we progress.
Yes I've effectively quit. This game is pure monotony at this stage with no point. I'm going to hang out for a bit and maybe sub in for my alliance here or there if needed, but otherwise I'm going to go Mike Tyson and fade into Bolivian.0 -
Eh, if only Mexicans learned to actually hit the gate, not only throw it all around... Their GK was amazing really, making several saves with his ****...0

They'd definitely need a serious shakeup. They have the potential but not sure they are in the right mindset currently.
Possibly just luck will decide whether they find their play on the field.0 -
Even though I'm from Poland and it's in my genes to hate the Germans, I all for Germany in this World Cup. It's a real pleasure watching them play.0

Great first half for Aus - Hol. Robben scored a nice goal and Cahill equalised with an even sweeter one!
Perhaps it might even be goal of the tournament...0 -
Yeah, Cahill's goal was amazing.
Group B is getting pretty tough.0
