His red doesn't bother me at all. I think in the ratings thread someone suggested you consider his red to be a 12AP power that does 1934 damage, and generates 8 green. That's not terribly far off from Modern Thor's yellow that does 2121 and generates 9. I often find myself wasting damage from Thor's yellow anyway, so Rag's red being more modular makes up for the ~200 damage and one green tile: I can effectively spread a Thunderstrike across two targets if some portion of the 2k damage would be urinated away on only one.

His green power needs help though. Honestly, I feel like I might be fine with it if it let me choose which two columns were destroyed. It doesn't really need AP generation at all. Ideally, I'd like to destroy two separate columns, but if the two columns had to be together but I could pick them, that might work too.
Except that there's next to no useful yellow powers for thor's power to detract from, but red is probably the most common color.

And that still doesn't address the part where he's a tank that's never going to be able to actually be in front without kittying your team composition. And that's just from the color composition alone, much less the lower level cap
  • Maybe..just maybe...like yellow ability that makes him take a hit? 2 yellow make him take the hit of the next attack?

Well, the problem you're pointing out there isn't that Rag's red isn't good enough for a red power, it's that either Thor's yellow is too good compared to all other yellows, or that there aren't enough good yellow powers out there.

Hey man, I was only talking about his powers. His other problems are, well, problems.

A bit of both really. His yellow was originally funbalanced by drastically reducing the damage, but the Lthor boost brought it back up to pre-nerf levels while keeping the insane tile generation

I was struck with a thought today for the eventual third power and I feel like this could go for either Rags or Bullseye. What if he had an EMP power? We're introduced to it in the hunt anyway. It could do something like freeze all countdown tiles for x turns and (in the case of Rags) stun him as well. It wouldn't overpower either character, but it makes them valuable in PVE at least. I think it would be a worthwhile skill and it's a new one. No idea on leveling but I wanted to throw it out there before I forgot.
  • I was looking him up to decide if I should or not lvl him up as a suport for Punisher, Thor or other green heroes. and I noticed something: what the tinykitty!? He doesn't have 3 match colors dmg progression.

That's really bothersome , it's a big part of why he can't tank. With his nerf he should have. Loki has p/b/green Doom has blue/b/pink. I would suggest maybe yellow or blue, some color other green characters doesn't have, idk.

For now I think it's not worth my ISO. I'm even considering invest in DD before rag.
  • ...and apparently, it's Bird Strike:

I call him Ragnarocan --- or as I like to spell it, Ragnarockin icon_ragnarok.pngicon_e_biggrin.gificon_ragnarok.png
  • Pirate Ragnorok - could be a Lazy 4* version?

That would tie in nicely with International Talk Like a Pirate Day (this Friday).

Nah , Ragnarok's third ability is obviously to squat a spot on our rosters- but what if they add an ability? I have to keep him.....

Question: Is it a safe bet to say that

    1. Ragnarok's only use is lightning rounds that feature him
    2. He will never be essential for PvE
    3. He will never be featured in a season PvP
    4. Therefore, he's not worth a roster slot

Once you remove him from your roster, the next PVP and PVE will feature him icon_e_biggrin.gificon_ragnarok.png

he's only worth a roster slot if you believe in D3 buffing him and other 3* villains that only have 2 powers sometime soon. he really needs that 3rd color+power and godlike power having another little effect added to it otherwise its a weaker version of unstoppable crash because it only focuses on 2 columns.

He's a fairly good generator of green for x-force - I use him reasonably often now before I get to shield hopping range.
  • He was in seasonal PVPs a TON for a while. I would not feel confident saying he won't be again; it's much more likely wrong than right.

Ah, I didn't realize. I remember Loki and Doctor Doom PvPs... I don't recall any recent Rags season events. Guess I'll keep the ol' metalhead around.

Krackadumb was almost run back to back at one point, wasn't it? Early season two with one non-Rags event in-between?
  • yea.. krakadoom (rag featured pvp) had been featuring for last pvp events for some of the earlier seasons. But well, i recalled having him as a featured char for pve for 1 or 2 events that's all. He had shift to much lower tier now, but occasionally i still use him on and off. Quite fun char to play too. wahahah
  • I still consider Ragnarok the MVP of villain lightning rounds. His two skills are both cheap; his red does 1700 (in LRs) and his green clears out a quarter of the board and usually does at least about 500 damage. He can knock out a good chunk of the seed team people with a single match on match damage alone. I almost never use him outside villain LRs, but he's great in them, and those are the game's primary ISO fountain now, so he's worth it for that.

Plus, it allows you to keep a LR team that isn't damaging the people you need for PVP or PVE.

Godlike Power is moderately useful against Inferno and World Rupture (particularly low-level ones)
