Given that lightning rounds just ended, i think devs looked into statistic and finally were convinced to Nerf rag. Not gonna say it was unexpected.
Hey, they even could make it even fun - just make it event-related Nerf, like, I dunno, hulk smashed him in head or punisher or something other in last boss fight. Dunno why they overlooked such possibility or even any proper explanation at all.0 -
I think they changed it just to avoid what I did this morning...went from 0 to 1600 in two hours of doubleshot tourney play. No match took more than 2 minutes, most less than 1. That's probably not ideal.
After the need, just to test, I changed my team to 90 Punisher, the needed IM40 (80 something only) and 80 Spiderman/115 Hulk switching in out depending on.my.mood or need to heal. Honestly my kills still never topped 2 min 30 seconds without boosts. Punisher is way underrated and was my sole source of damage. He's going to 141 asap, along with spidey, although I've avoided leveling him for fear of nerfing, but I realized health is even more of a premium than it used to be, since defense sorta matters again now.0 -
I'm one of the many people who bought rag's red covers and at the time I kinda knew that a nerf was possible, so I don't complain about the wasted money.
I complain about the extend of the nerf.
Not just because it ruins the character, but because it can happen again. I could spend other hundreds of hours and money to get another character strong just to see him nerfed to death too.
I don't feel like playing anymore.
@devs: you made a lot of players happy, but all the paying players unhappy. This helps getting more players, but I don't know about the money.
My forum's name is the same as my game's one, check how much I've spent till now and consider you'll never get another cent from me.
It's not a ragequit, I just don't want to waste any more money on something that might become trash after a few days.0 -
lol, just woke up to the news. I guess nobody can deny that a nerf was justified, but they overshot by a margin that can't be explained with inaptness anymore. It's Loki and C.Storm all over again.0

I am extremely unhappy with the nerf of Rags, and not just for the nerf itself, but for the way it was handled. The way it just came out of nowhere, and with such a huge change, shows a complete lack of respect for the community. They could quite easily have announced it on here a while ago (as they didn't just come to this decision overnight) and allowed the community to discuss it and come up with other ideas and suggestions on how he could have been made less OP (which let's face it, he was) and more balanced instead.
I'll admit I'm more annoyed about this because I spent real money on it. As I got some money for Christmas, I was happy to spend £70 (around $110) on Hero Points, which I used to buy a couple of the Diabolical 5 packs so I could finally get red Rags, and then I paid more Hero Points to max out his red covers. I was happy to support the game with cash because I was enjoying it, and while I saw some tweaking of the character as inevitable, what's happened is nothing more than a destruction of Rags.
I (and many others) can think of so many ways they could have altered the character as a whole to make him more balanced, and the fact that they've completely ruined him just makes me think that they'll just do the same to whichever character soon rises to the top as the most OP character left (Mags maybe?). I certainly won't be spending any more cash on this game if this is what the developers will do if they feel a character is OP. I'll continue to play it, I'll probably continue to enjoy it, but I certainly won't be supporting it financially again until the developers put some effort in and show that they actually seem to care about the community.0 -

That's probably the only good point to it. I just don't get why they couldn't have increased the AP needed to 4, and reduced the number of greens generated to 4 as well. If that continued to be overpowered, then tweak it again. Basically destroying one of the most popular characters in the game is such a ridiculous decision when you consider how easy it would have been for them to simply tweak him, gather some data/feedback, and then do it again if needed.0 -
Agree with damned near the whole thread - this nerf was WAY overdone.
Probably doesn't help that I'd spent US$42 on HP to level mine up in the last two weeks. Plus the ISO to level him up from 30ish -> 102. And now he's utterly worthless. I can't think of any 3* character weaker than he is currently.
I was a big supporter of this game, but this nerf has left a bitter taste in my mouth.0 -

Okay, between the endgame teams of Mag/Spidey/X and Rag/BW/X, I thought the latter would be far more interesting and invested my time (LOTS of time) into that. It's gone. It's not slower or less devastating, it's completely gone. No possibilty to get Magneto now that the LRs will be a slaughterfest. Plus I can't sustain my team with my 2/1/4 Spidey so I could grind up some ranks. I am put back to my ** lineup of Thorwolv. The light at the end of the tunnel is so unbelievably far away that I think I will spend my gaming time with other things. Final Fantasy parts on the iPhone work DAMN well.0

I think once they start actually doling out more balancing to other characters that need it, this game will become even more enjoyable than it is now. A game about strategy and making a great team shouldn't revolve around spamming as many times in a single turn the same ability, and killing the enemy team in 2-3 turns. When you go into a match, it should be a challenge.
So I'm happy to see that the money I have spent thus far on the game has been going toward a more balanced future for the game, and will continue to play and support them for as long as I enjoy the game.

Hrm, I guess I will take another look at punisher if you're saying he does that much damage.
I'll try a punisher / ironman / doom combo ... swap spiderman to heal occasionally.0 -

When Rag is played by the AI, there's no chaining of powers. He can use each power once a turn. It's usually relatively straightforward to deny red, especially if you have a character on your team that can do something useful with red. Yes, there are occasionally big cascades from Godlike Power, but it's actually relatively rare.
Fighting against Rag always required stringent attention paid to denial, as well as the annoyance of him being super-tanky, but really, it's much easier to deal with moderate amounts of incoming damage each turn, than it is to deal with big burst damage.
Sure, but team him with Venom and I've had, on several occasions, them perform an infinite loop of Thunder, Godlike, Stun, Thunder, Godlike, Stun, etc, long enough that my phone literraly went to sleep. And yes, you can deny red but that doesnt help much when the AI matches yellow and three red fall into their lap. Or the board starts with two possible red matches. When you're attempting to fight the lvl 240 teams it's pretty much over from that point on.0 -
I would hardly call rag a tank he is only strong in two colours and isnt at the front of the team often enough, they should at least give him a third colour to be strong in so he can be effective as a tank.0

Never really liked Rag, as in-game character. His self-sustaining loop was too boring. At least remaining people will now look into Punisher and other characters. It's much more varied and interesting when there's no one character that can sindle-handedly pull match.
"Now I cannot get any covers"? Guys, how do you suppose it feels for new players without Rag? Try other characters, Wolv+mStorm on boosts can take on some real powerhouses, Wolv+oBW rarely need healing and get even bigger damages and other combos.
As for "now my matches are too long" - well, duh, maybe they always were like that for most players?

With weeks and weeks of LR Rags was very attainable. Forget boring. In this game it's imperative that at the end of events you win and win fast. Rags was a great way to speed up matches and play as many opponents as possible. Instead he is now worse than Thor. Many people recently spent money on him and the devs gave no heads up.
Several weeks ago they released the OBW and before people started leveling her up Devs clearly stated that she would have a third ability coming out. This allowed people to not waste their covers and see what the third ability would be. With Rags, tons of ISO was spent on him and now he is basically worthless. No warning. No heads up. Just a big middle finger to all the players. I've praised the devs in the past but it looks like EA purchased them over Christmas. They look like they are taking the low road in FTP.0 -
