The problem with Rag as a damage soak is that some combination of his lack of 3rd skill and/or 3rd color won't put him in front of your dps or support very often.Black Widow (Grey Suit)

great analysis that disproves TCs theory, at least on offense0 -

An excellent point. Again, I'm not 100% positive this is his intended direction, but if it is (and we got some red confirmation on this theory), then this is definitely a point to bring up about then to buff him. Because honestly, what good is a tank that sits in the back with his thumb up his butt?
Alternatively, he could also be viewed as the introductory 3* tank with those numbers guarding for 2*. But considering his difficulty in acquiring covers, this part holds little to no water.0 -
I think they just want to increase damage taken by players with rag, because the quick kill ability was making it so if you had rags you could go forever almost due to not taking much damage outside of tile match damage. this would decrease session time for players with rag, but increase match time. if they actually want to increase match time, i don't know if that is wise. the fun part about the game is winning, not taking 20 turns to win.0

Or give us a simple heads up on the future direction of the game e.g. this is the first in the series of change that we are looking at etc...
Not doing that is rude, and a sign of disrespect for the playerbase, who invested their relative share into this promising game.
I am one of those who is waiting patiently for a logical Dev reply on the Rag situation, as it is very interesting to me why this path was taken without better balancing on their side. The future of this game hangs on a thin thread if no actual thought is put into these actions as players will be afraid to invest or invite more to play in the case of a short-term cash grab phone game syndrome. .
I have a maxed out Rag and I am not angry at general meta changes in a game. In fact, I agree on a Rag nerf so that the character can be brought in line with the others (even though I prefer a general buff on all other characters to be a smarter alternative), but taking away so much without giving back any (except some pathetic damage boost) is really an insult to the general intelligence of the player-base.0 -
The one thing I liked about this game over the original PQ is the speed of games. It seems the devs are moving away from this though.0
-
My (perhaps far fetched) hypothesis about the nerf comes down to server costs. If everyone can finish fights in about 1 minute that is a lot of server calls for pulling the opponents before the fights and more server calls for scoring. If they balance everything so fights are more in line with 5 minutes the server loads are much lower=pay for fewer servers. The fights themselves and AI are played locally on your device but everything else requires the servers. Perhaps a sysadmin could tell me if I am way off.0

Given their prior record, there will be a Thor tournament this weekend and they'll nerf him in the middle of the day on Sunday.
Jokes aside, I believe they should do a sort of relaunch of the game where it's completely rebalanced to what they want. People have been calling for c.storm and Rag nerfs for weeks and it takes the devs a very long time to make these small changes. They seem to be doing about one a week including Loki, Spidey, Venom, C. Hawkeye...0 -

On the flip-side, with Rag they way he was, I could win on my first turn, opponents not even getting a turn. At that point, winning matches isn't fun, it's just the motions I have to go through to hopefully win something else (prize-de-tourney). Gotta hit a happy medium, don't want first turn wins, don't want 20 round slugfests (I get plenty of those too, playing on my steam account, checking out how the game has changed at the low levels.)0 -
Really upset with this nerf, might as well use Thor now instead of Rag.0

The problem was that only Rag was the speedy one in the entire MPQ game (barring IM40's Recharge), so the dev's initial character balance of the game was heavily flawed, as players can only gravitate to one obviously overpowered character compared to the 29 others. He was on a different level doing different things in the same game, akin to 'roiding up.0

No. Mags is fast. Wolverine in combination with some other characters is fast. Maybe not as mad as Rag, but still fast.
Nobody is complaining Rags got nerfed.
People are complaining he's been made absolutely useless.0 -
Mags is only fast with several criteria met on board (enough blue tiles etc) or in the jungle. Rags was on a *different* level, he made things happen. And yes, I already agreed that being made absolutely useless is an insult to our player-base's intelligence, when a considerable nerf could have sufficed.0

I'm not sure that he was not intended to be strong. He is one of few (are there others?) covers that have never been a reward in game. That makes him hard to get which led to people working or spending hard to get him. Don't want to accuse the devs of turning him into a cash grab but it seems to me that they could have nerfed him a long time ago (like Loki) if they were not happy with his balance rather than waiting for everyone to have him.0
-
Should have known better than to spend money on this game. Bought 3 red covers for Rag after getting 2 from random draws plus sank most of my ISO from the last week or so into getting him up to 60... So glad they decided to screw me over. I've asked for a refund but I really doubt they care.0

You do not see, as long as it is a method that allows users to invest money in in-game content, this is a simple Nerf. In situations that are able to skill up paying money to the skills one by one on the current system, while not taking into account the other party at all on the people who invested money and Nerf like this, the user is damage abide case, interpretation of the word is. I think this, d3 is a must remorse.
I think by this, even if the server log is not enough, and that he simply allowed to roll back the coins to invest the amount of iso-8, it has invested if and only d3 side Ragnarok. I think that there is a person who invested money in this game requires enough this degree.
d3 is, please do not think ridiculous that the user has invested time and money in this game.
I want you to think do not forget to balance character also ruin the character is like, that there are people who invest time and effort.0 -
Good thread.
I look forward to the next changes.
I won't be putting in any Iso on any character until then.
The **** part however is finding the motivation to play right now. There's nothing to play for right now. Well, I don't have much left in terms of Iso since I spent it all on my Ragnarok hours before the update.
Ultimately, I'm all for a slower game that lends well to executing combinations as opposed to quick wins and grinding speedily.
But slowing down the game must also require altering the scoring and progression system to accommodate the new speed.
Then again, the fast pace may not be very far from the intention in the first place.
One thing I noticed when playing LRs is that I felt punished for relishing my Magneto set-ups. Never mind trying to use the expensive Iron Man abilities, etc. I actually enjoy matching tiles!0 -

This. He is a hard hero to advance and a real accomplishment in the game that was completely taken away. Perhaps the theory of the OP that everyone is going to be nerfed so rags becomes useful again is true but then agree with the poster that suggested it should all have been done at once.
I think the problem is that they keep adding heroes that nobody will use because existing heroes are better. Question is do you improve the the new ones or destroy the old?0
