I really do hope they refund the players like yourself who have recently spent on Rags least they not only lose the players but a fair amount of their income due to people doing charge backs for a product that is significantly different then expected.
Right wrong or otherwise, that's just how the real world works.0 -
eidehua wrote:At least rags in PVE will be a lot easier now. He's still osborn's top dog so I don't think he could be easily replaced in new events involving osborn.
Hmmmm. It's hard to say if he will be "A lot" easier, but he definitely won't be as broken as he was before. One of the main things that was devastating on him was getting miracle cascades, and it's still probable. Because of the AP cost change, this will be less of an occurrence, so will make facing off against him more manageable. You still will have to deal with a nasty store of health, but he definitely has been brought more in line with other characters.0 -
This just makes my incorrectly specced Thor even more glaring of a problem than it was0

Agreed. I would be satisfied if people were refunded their HP / ISO so we may spend them on something else. This goes not only for paying customers, but also for players who put in a huge amount of time. (After all, I spent money in order to save time and to express my appreciation for a fun game, though the latter feels ironic now.)
There's no need to discuss absolute right or wrong, but if D3 doesn't respond to my inquiry, it proves my purchase was a bad decision. Our collective response will determine whether it was a bad decision on their part.0 -
ariakas wrote:Ragnarok was the most desired character in game. Everyone wanted him and those who got him maxed him quickly, spent real money or time. Now everyone regret it. Yes, he wasn't balanced but, why do you nerf him from best to one of worst 3 stars? You could just get him to normal level, and everyone still could satisfy with their efforts.
Really, can't you see everyone wants to be best in game? The way was getting Ragnarok. You could just buff another character and we would all chase its covers like bunnies.
If you want to balance game, if you want a new page, my opinion is, do it at once, not one by one. Plan all gamestyles, possible teams and characters, make tests and nerf and buff all characters at once and don't change them, and release new ones similar to them, thats all. Is it too hard?
Maybe they nerfed Rags because so many people have already spent money on it. So they will come out with a new buffed cover so we all spend money to become powerful with it. A very tricky money grab?0 -

15,000 HP to get one red cover, then 5k to level it up to rank 5, or did you throw 1100 at a time at single diabloic covers? What other covers did you end up with while you were playing the lottery for a single red rags cover?0 -
I think the nerf was needed. Being spammable without actually working towards recharging the skill again makes for a rather dumb mechanic. I've read that it's was part of his flavor of being speedy, but not only was he speedy for himself, he also sped up his teammates, which was apparently unintended.
I think once they start actually doling out more balancing to other characters that need it, this game will become even more enjoyable than it is now. A game about strategy and making a great team shouldn't revolve around spamming as many times in a single turn the same ability, and killing the enemy team in 2-3 turns. When you go into a match, it should be a challenge.
So I'm happy to see that the money I have spent thus far on the game has been going toward a more balanced future for the game, and will continue to play and support them for as long as I enjoy the game.0 -
Zathrus wrote:First off, I'm with forgrim here. The worst part of this isn't even the nerf -- it's the complete and utter lack of dev interaction with the community.
That said, what can I say that hasn't been said numerous times... those who are happy or okay with this nerf -- enjoy the forthcoming changes to Thor, Wolverine, OBW, Spidey, and Mags. The only one who might escape that is OBW since she's new and only powerful because of Wolverine. When he gets nerfed, she'll get nerfed as a side effect. And as they've demonstrated thrice now, they don't mess around when they nerf. Overpowered characters become the weakest.
I'm probably done with the game. I've put up with the numerous buggy releases and poorly QA'd changes, but the lack of communication topped by this -- meh. I don't see the point. I was already near the top of the power curve, they apparently have no intention of actually making 4* worthwhile, and between this change and the recent new 3*s it's pretty clear they don't actually want 3*s to be better than 2*s. And once they nerf the 2*s they won't be much better than the 1*s either.
I'll watch the forums for a bit, maybe, in the hopes that they'll actually start caring about their player base again. But given the near complete silence since the Christmas break began, I'm not hopeful.0 -

I purchased three Diabolic packs for 15,000 HP, and I got the first Thunderclap cover with the third pack. I then spent 5,000 HP to level it up four times.
I also got these covers, I recruited them but didn't spend any ISO on them:
Magneto 2 blue / 1 red / 0 purple
The Hood 1 yellow / 1 blue /1 black
Loki 2 black / 1 purple
Dr. Doom 1 black / 2 blue0 -

It's KIMPOSSIBLE to enjoy this game now!0 -

I try not to be overly cynical, but I tend to agree with pandaberry6 up above: This feels too much like a deliberate bait-and-switch.
The developers could very well have notified the playerbase that a nerf was coming; it doesn't require the forums, since they do daily general announcements in-client. That is the responsible, ethical thing to do, particularly when I'd bet that their vaunted analytics shows a much larger likelihood to spend on upgrading Rag covers (especially the red) over probably any other cover in the game. They didn't even have to announce exactly what it would be in advance (although if they had, probably even fewer people would have paid to upgrade) -- they just needed to announce it at all and people would have delayed purchasing.
Instead, what they appear to have done was maximally ride the monetization curve. I'm sure that because Rag was a core important villain in the Hulk stuff, that they couldn't rebalance him until the event was done -- which provided ample opportunity for them to announce a forthcoming nerf.
Players who are looking to always be the most powerful will always seek out and pay for it. It's to the devs' advantage to essentially allow that rock to roll downhill, so to speak -- to put out breadcrumbs of OP-ness, let players pay to buy in, and then nerf.
I understood the c.Storm nerf (although I think it was significant) -- it turned one character on the team into bait, which was no doubt an undesirable way to play, which needed to be fixed. But c.Storm's still a solid character all-round for her other abilities. Ragnarok could have simply been reasonably balanced, including keeping the feel of the character, probably by further reducing the Thunderclap damage and the number of greens generated; nerfing him below Thor's red is just crazytown. But it might well be deliberate crazytown -- it's going to force players who have already proven their willingness to spend money for power, to go look for the next thing that they can spend money on, since their existing investment is arguably not even really a competitive choice to keep on their team. (i.e., how many Rag players who spent money will now willingly spend money on Hulk or Punisher to replace him?)
It's also an amazing demonstration of bad faith with a player base, though, and I imagine is going to cost them any number of bad reviews and players leaving. On the other hand, they're so early in the history of the game that it might not matter, and player bases have short memories. There's probably the opportunity to burn people repeatedly.0 -
I used to play Marvel: War of Heroes. They would constantly release new cards and people would spend hundreds buying random packs and and energy packs. Then, when they didn't get what they wanted they would run to the forums, much like what a lot of people here are doing, and say things like "let's boycott this game" or "lets show the devs with our wallets!". Do you want to know what happened every time? They just released more packs and continued to make more money with each pack. Basically what I'm saying is, no matter how much you B and moan nothing will change. If you quit playing it doesn't matter to them because more people will start playing. It's the nature of F2P games which is unfortunate but that's the way the cookie crumbles.0

Kiamodo wrote:sparksue wrote:Yes I am bad for mention regarding my 1st sentence but definitely he must be nerfed to level the whole playing field.
Yet nobody expect the nerf on him is really high that he doesn't look scary now. It's true that those who's using it will have the after effect but definitely it's right thing to nerf him.
Especially in lighting rounds - people just keep using rag to smash all the way through.
I still feel that 2ap should be taken off and make at least 3ap the lowest cost for all characters. 2ap with boosts, they can do 3 same ability within a match.
Forgive him Rags. He knows not what he says.
Rags just thunderclapped sparksue 6 times.0 -
If they don't add a decent and interesting third power to Ragnarok, he's nearly useless. They should have added a third power at the time of the nerf.0

I think this single thread is the fastest growing thread on the board, ever. Perhaps a sign that people are upset?
(The disgusted owner of a 4/5 Rag who spent all their HP and ISO from the past 2 months into covers, finally getting 5 red this week and who woke up at 4:30am this morning in order to compete in a Rag LR and get a missing green cover. Soooooo not worth the lost sleep.)0 -

Third power would do nothing to placate those that have 5/5 Rags. It would just be spitting in their faces even harder.
Only if they released it alongside one of the most requested features, a respec option. That would be the only way that they could save face for a third power introduction.0 -
