If you are still lingering sokun, can we get the ability to favorite nightcrawler?
1 -
Didn't expect this. One year later. So I guess the cover will be his premiere issue released April 2023
1 -
Also, why this comic/him? There's Blood Hunt in the 1st and 2nd quarter of this year and Power Pack. There's also the return of Night Thrasher.

Anyone else not going to mention he's a 2 star?
When did this become a thing?
So are we getting new 2, 3, 4 & 5's from now on?
Not a fan5 -

Not a fanI don't mind the 2*. It helps the new players. They do want to grow the game and retain them, so it helps with their business plan.

Dilution!
Hey, isn’t it great adding all those levels to your ascended characters and getting all those nice rewards?
Hmmm….maybe that should be slowed down somehow, say the devs.

Not a fanThey mentioned this in the monthly Q&A. I specifically called it out in the answers when they said the release cycle was going to alter from 4->3/5 and speculated we were getting some more 1s or 2s or 5s.
2 star releases are going to be excellent news for those players in a HP / roster slot crunch since you don't need a 2 star to do CL10 so you can safely ignore this character giving you more time gather HP for the next 4 or 3/5 release.

@S0kun can you provide any info or details yet on what the “new” normal will be regarding releases? The Q&A response was vague and I’m wondering if this is a one-off thing, or if we’re now getting a new 2* every other month?
1 -
Chiming in: there is no current plan to change the release cadence. Rather, on occasion if we see opportunities to insert characters of lower tier than the norm (3,4,5) we will. You can expect to see 1 or 2 more 2*s later this year, but that's it.

If this is the case, then maybe releasing 2* Sentinel ->3* Orchis Sentinel -> 4* Master Mold -> 5* Nimrod sometime? @S0kun

sigh...a new 2*, and one that looks like he is going to be a monster once the for sale ascended versions of him come out. He looks like a combo of 4* nightcrawler and 4* professor X.

For new players it's just going to be another delay before you move on to the 3★ tier (unless you think his powers make him a total game-changer among 2★ characters?) For older players, it's just 1-4 additional roster slots you have to set aside while you Ascend a character you never use so that you're not "wasting" the covers you earn for them. Everyone is going to suffer from dilution - getting these characters to high levels more slowly, and earning the best Champ & Ascension rewards less often.
If you claim that adding new 2★ characters is good for all players, then aren't you also arguing that the game would be even better if there were hundreds of characters in both the 1★ and 2★ tiers?

Although I remember "no current plans" for other things that became a thing a few weeks later.0 -
While it's not quite at the level of me shouting shenanigans I can understand the thinking about it, more 2s will help newer players and us pro's probably just need to put our big boy pants on.
(While I call myself a pro, I'm not, any person who changes their sleep pattern for this game is in a league way above mine)

So there isn't going to be shield training? I don't know what to say about the 2⭐.

One more 2star (especially a character that could be fun for someone at that tier) seems like a positive for newer players.
For older players, it's just 1-4 additional roster slots you have to set aside while you Ascend a character you never use so that you're not "wasting" the covers you earn for them. Sure, but also, ascension isn't necessarily important for new players, and as a long time player, if I get to where I need the extra roster slots to ascend, I'll deal with that then. I'm sure we'll see an ascended offer in the store to save your roster slot(s).
If you claim that adding new 2★ characters is good for all players, then aren't you also arguing that the game would be even better if there were hundreds of characters in both the 1★ and 2★ tiers?
That's a leap, and I don't think that's in the spirit of what the post meant.
- Some pros to look at:
- This is the first 2star in YEARS. For a tier that's been stable/stale for a long long time, this is a healthy change.
- New players finally have a non-limited spider-man at the 2star level.
- Feeds a pair of 3s that didn't have a feeder before.
- Will be easy for new players to roster and use.
- Will be easy for older players to finish/champ/ascend.
- Has some fun powers
- Has synergy with a 3star
- Gives a break from 4stars (talk about dilution issues)
- 4star pool already overcrowded (again, dilution)
- What's the turnaround time to get a full cycle on the crash at this point?
Adding new 2stars has been on the request list for awhile. For the newer players, it has to be SUPER frustrating to see a new shiny character every other week, most of which they can't/shouldn't waste their resources on. I see this as a bit of an opportunity that the devs took to mix up the status quo. after 10 years of playing this game, it's a nice and refreshing change, IMHO.

I'm happy to see it - would rather have a slow ascension climb for someone with straight-forward powers than another convoluted character, and need some characters for newbies.
It does also align to my theory that the devs plan to introduce a way to unlock character costumes across all versions of that character, for which I expect we shall see more of these kind of variants.

It's just weird for me to see, because for years the conventional wisdom among the player base was along the lines of:
We don't ever want to see the devs add any new 3★ characters to the game. That will dilute the 3★ character pool even further and make the game more of a slog. New players should just roster every 2★ & 3★ character as quickly as possible so that they can get their productive resource farms up & running, but the goal is basically to reach the 4★ tier ASAP (within a few months?) because that's where the game really begins and gets interesting!
And now everyone seems to be ret-conning the logic to:
Finally we're adding new 2★ to the game! This is exactly what new players need, and it's what we've all spent years begging for! This solves so many complaints that we've had about the game!
They've been adding new 3★ characters for a while now, so you get interesting characters / powers / synergies there. I always just thought the 1★ & 2★ tiers served as a sort of extended tutorial to ease you into the game mechanics. But you should get through it as quickly as possible - it's not a place that players should be spending even more time in.
