I wouldn’t be surprised if most people ignored the ascended 1->5s, but they also might be delaying the offers there. Or just focused on offering 4s and 5s which probably get more bites since they seem more useful overall, beyond reward engines.

IM35 Ascended during his event is definitely a winner. Hits hard and can definitely get off at least 1-2 of his cd’s per match.

    He’ll be an awesome 5*.

They're much more than just reward engines, though. As a mid-level 5* player, I'm finding solid uses for them when boosted in PvP -- even if it might be just for their outsized health. (Spidey, though, is fearsome on offense when boosted and Juggs is going to be a menace, as he should be.)

But this is also changing the competitive landscape: it's creating a growing population of nouveau-riche 5* players newly able to compete in LRs and PvP. People with sub-300 rosters who bought into the US$20 1^5s* and are striving (and spending). Many of them are likely to push their new trophies to 550 as quickly as they can, which will be weird for vets (way more randoms) and deeply vexing for them (why am I doing so much worse with these awesome new 5s I bought? They have MMR cancer, of course, undetected).

I think this will (1) work sea-changes in LRs for sure. (2) In PvP, increase (a) clog, but (b) hittable clog, over time -- players who don't know how to break through 900-1000, but are happy with those rewards and just stop playing the event, functionally floating, or shield low and then, inattentive, drop. Finally, (3) it'll probably lead to way more grist for ultra-late climbers with huge rosters eating all those I'm-done floaters.

*I bought the US$20 1^5s and will buy them every time they are offered. I will buy them until the cows come home from buy-club. I will buy them when I'm living under a bridge, homeless. And -- dear Jeebus -- I will play a whole lot more LRs to feed them in 2024.

Great topic, BTW. Ascension is really, really a massive change in the game and I've spent a lot of time thinking through how it does(n't) work for me. This thread is full of good analysis.

Not sure it's been mentioned in this thread, but X-Force Wolverine remains eligible for use in the 4* node of DDQ after ascension like Nightcrawler.

I noticed it, but I didn't want to jinx it.

I've noticed no one mentioned ascended Classic Cyclops, does anyone know what his numbers look like after ascension?

I always liked Cyclops for his AP gain on team up ability. I haven’t quite found a way to exploit it in a 5* team yet. But yeah, having twice the boost list really opens up options in a given event.

Dazzler and Goose are a good Omega Red counter and are more fun together than I expected. Dazzler’s damage on green kind of slaps now from all Goose’s strike tiles.

Also, Moondragon was an absolute menace during iHulk’s boost week. Not even during Chasm’s heyday have I used so few health packs and had as many defensive wins. She’s great.

    Boosted Ghost is insane.

A 672 Ghost would be bonkers.

ascended ghost and ascended Jubilee are great together. Often one opening match kills a full health enemy.

Why is self damage going up so much for ascended characters?
4* Rogue does 13.5 % self damage on green, while 5* Rogue does 31.5 %.
I don't understand the need to balance the higher damage with insanely increased self damage, when Coulson can get 5 1 turn CD tiles with zero downside.
