I am also passing on crystal, too. She doesn't seem that great to me, but I was wrong about Colossus and Switch.
I am still riding my SC pretty hard - to me he is the best. Just a blast to play.He has a kit that could be useful. HE is probably his best current partner, but any good blue battery (like old Bishop) would also be quite good with him. I think crystal is more of a support player that can do a bunch of different stuff that is mostly worth having, but can't carry a team by herself very easily. On paper at least garg has a kit that can be the heavy hitter on a team if supplied with enough blue.I think crystal/garg/X is a pretty solid LT pool and likely the best we have seen since SC left the pool last fall.
You all make a good point, though, so maybe I will revisit this in a few weeks after people get a chance to test them out.0 -
Honestly, having seen the movie, there is a much better character that doesn't yet exist in MPQ that they could have used, but I guess it would be a spoiler to have it in the game so early.0

I'm glad he changed his mind. I thought he wouldn't do videos because he was livid about Shuma.
Wanda and a couple others got one-shot (kind of) to death in the video without breaking a sweat. If this still doesn't prove his metaness with Hawkeye, I don't know what will .
His only weakness is getting his cd tiles place near special or tu tiles, which is a minor disruption.
Other than that, welcome the anti-defensive meta. The only pair of eyes you need is Hawkeye and Shuma Gorath.0 -

Looks pretty powerful against pvp-strength opponents, but maybe not so sustainable with no healing, no stun, and no DR.

The videos are awesome but I’d like to see him without Hawkeye. I imagine a lot of people don’t have him champed.
Hes looking like the best release this year for 5*s0 -
I don't think he's worth much consideration without a good battery like HE, no "free" blue nuke and he's just going to be annoying to deal with like a combination of Knull and Yellowjacket. If one of the following LL characters does things like HE that'd send him over the top to a must get, otherwise he's only attractive to long-time players or weirdos who went after HE early (not total weirdos mind, I love HE as a character and wish mine had more covers).

Time for some pro Hawkeye stat refresh propaganda.0

As I recall, it was Thanos>black panther>HE. And coulson released sound that time as well. So HE was in the LT pool with the then-current meta (panthos) and had pvp-viable 4* partner at the time (with no stunner Bros, and no big passive damage or damage boosters one could use HE/coulson up to 1300+ pretty easily). And since then he has been borderline relevant in pve the whole time (more so ever since challenge nodes arrived). definitely a 1b tier character to chase when he shows up in release stores. It's nice to see him get another good partner in garg, but I would really like to see him get a health refresh.4

After playing this poor loaner guy:
Tentacle trash expires and immediately he creates another. That means that, if not destroyed, after the first turn he will be doing his thing each turn, if invisible he will create 2 each turn. The tentacles created during invisibility stay on the board forever until destroyed.
And, if you were wondering, the sinergy with abygail and SW is amazing.
So I'm eager to champ him.0 -

Also liked the videos, thanks Thanos, that blue looks pretty tasty and the synergy with Hawkeye worked as expected.Kudos for Eye of the Beholder but also leaving me hanging, Call of Ktulu was right there.0

Yo. HawkEye with 5* Strange is a PROBLEM.You’re gonna get get a bunch of blue to use Crimson Bands of Cytorrak and stun and destroy 3 AP of a chosen color each turn AND do a chunk of damage each turn. Meanwhile, Gargantos’ tile is expiring every turn to destroy 1 AP in a random color but if there’s no AP in a color, you get a nice chunk of damage. My Gargantos is 1/0/0 and with champed Strange/Hawkeye, the enemy has 0 AP in 6 of the 8 colors by turn 5 if they’re lucky.0

I tried the following teams during his pvp and it's working like what I imagined it to be:
Hawkeye + Coulson, 5* Elektra, Apocalypse, Ultron, Gertrude, Odin
Others who were originally not in my list Hawleye + Abigail
Playing its pvp made me realised that Ultron's red cost 7 red, instead of 9 as what I remembered. It was quite an ephiphany and it changed the way I play the following pvp. Also, his strike tikes boosted Shuma's cd damage by about 10-15k which was pretty good. And I was climbing using Hawkeye and Ultron because it was actually faster than Ultron + Abigail. Hawkeye kept feeding red and I was firing his red frequently. The side effect is Shuma's cd disappearing but it was a minor inconvenience.
Hawkeye + Elektra could create a stun loop easily. I was firing Elektra red once very turn with a few red aps leftover. I could have fired it twice sometimes but I chose not to. I think it was due to Gargantos being invisible for only two turns or due to his cds getting matched when switching between tiles.
I didn't try Wanda + Abigail but it seems like it's working well because Bad has tried that team.
I didn' think of Dr Strange because they were fighting for blues.
All in all, I'm super excited about champing Shuma on July 28 and the last time I was this excited was for SC's release.

I love finding such synergies, and seeing other players post about other synergies as well. I'm looking forward to trying out Hound's suggestion of Shuma/Hawkeye/Elektra.
Two options I want to try that haven't been mentioned by Tiger and Hound: either Iceman or Goblin. Hawkeye provides constant fuel for Iceman's stuns, while everyone already knows Goblin's synergy with Hawkeye. Ronan and Knull could also be decent thirds with Hawkeye/Shuma.1 -
I thought about Iceman but I was focusing on making sure that Shuma goes invisible asap so that Hawkeye can trigger +9 blue and +6 red ap every turn. So, I thought Iceman would slow down the process because he will drain 3 blue aps every turn and his cd turn is pretty long at 5 or 6. But Iceman stun could prove beneficial even during mid game if his cds go down to zero, which happens often. Shifting the focus to a stun team using Iceman is another way of playing this team.
I fought against Kitty in his pvp and she does slow things down against this duo. So, against Kitty/BRB/Polaris, Iceman has an advantage in reducing the probability of Kitty overriding Shuma's cd from 100% to 20% intially, and it will get lower with each new blue tiles on the board.
There will be another 5 releases before July 28 and this means there are more chances of new teams with Shuma (and Hawkeye).

Usually Iceman will dry up all the blue, but with HE that won't mess up the sinergy. And HE could benefit Ice protection, because until rebalanced, HE will be the weak link on that chain, on defense.
For that reason Abby and SW work great together, SW providing blue. It wasn't the fastest battle but it was the easy and no-wasting-healthpack battle, goboosted Abby kind of compensating what a champed garg will do(surely accelerating a lot battles).0 -

Garg is definitely the best 5* release (on paper) since SC last fall. high damage numbers, exploitable passives, etc. so I don't think your excitement is out of line or especially surprising.
