New UI Update: Gameboard
Comments

I hate the new UI. I've spent seven years (2670 days) getting used to the old one; the new takes away my ability to sum up the board at a glance.6

Giving away in-game currency is a very small opportunity cost for the potential benefit it could provide to the developers.1 -
Just another 1st timer (albeit with 2300+ days) chiming in to say that the new GUI is unusable for me on my iPhone SE. I'm at the age where i sometimes need reading glasses. Old GUI, no readers. New GUI, needed readers and still found it extremely difficult to take in the whole board at once.
Until it's reverted or drastically improved. I'm done playing. Hopefully it'll only be for a few days, but if it's forever, so be it. I'll miss it, but I'd have no choice.7 -
Think they will be changing this very soon, page 18 already and I’ve seen at least 10 first time posters
If the colour scheme causes seizures and headaches and there is no warning. Does this break some kind of rule ??
I did notice a headache after playing but I think mine was more due to playing in darkness4 -

I desperately want to find something positive to say about this update, as complaining usually gets you nowhere, but this change is horrible.
First, I suffer from red-green colorblindness, and these changes make the board nearly unplayable. Too many colors blend in to one another because the brighter background has been replaced with a dark one; there goes that important contrast.
Second, the dimming of the screen during the opponents moves actually hurts my eyes and bothers my head. I find I’m straining to see what’s happening on a screen that’s no longer designed to convey the information I’m used to receiving. This change is horrific and we should be given a choice to turn it off, much like animations and enemy AP gain.
Finally, this is a question as opposed to feedback...but do you guys ever play-test these changes? Who on the development team played this and thought it was an improvement? The big problem you guys are facing with your loyal player base is that we show up every day and give you our all, while changes like this feel very short-sighted and without care for how it’s going to affect us. I think it’s moments like these that further the divide between player and developer because it really seems like what’s important to us (i.e., character respects, qol changes, etc.) are purposefully ignored in favor for changes that are two steps back for every step forward. The new UI is at most an irritation for players like me, but for those who are colorblind or have light sensitivity issues, it’s practically unplayable. Please revert these changes and do better about considering accessibility issues with future UI changes.
I am generally one who tries to find the good in people and things. I am really wanting to like this because it obviously took time and effort by the developers. I would really like to say that I'll adjust in time and get used to it.
Sadly, after playing both PvP and PvE today, I cannot say any of these things. What I can say is that I am physically ill after playing. I played in the middle of the day and became physically ill. I thought that maybe I was just unwell. I then took a purposeful break and even napped. I've now done my PvE for the day and am in even worse shape. As a friend put it to me: accessibility > aesthetics.
I *do* like the new (bigger?) arrow for moving the opponents around and how the tile hint now moves instead of glowing.
I just don't like being sick. Yes, I can quit if it continues but, as opposed to some people here being fine with a major loss of players, I doubt that's what the developers had in mind. 🤔 I prefer to play on my tablet, which I have updated. I will have to stop playing once I am forced to update MPQ on my phone
Please revert this. The backs of many camels are breaking!justsing said:zonatahunt said:I desperately want to find something positive to say about this update, as complaining usually gets you nowhere, but this change is horrible.First, I suffer from red-green colorblindness, and these changes make the board nearly unplayable. So far no complaints from my 20 alliance members other than one not understanding the new tile graphics . If anything the devs going Apocalypse Red on the player base will benefit almost everyone in the long run .-9

The Thanos update. Poof, more than half the MPQ player base wiped out!

My alliance hates it. Most are going to quit as its causing eye discomfort. Plus some are colorblind and can barely play the game since the update.
The update is awful. I played once today and that was enough.

You'll have to walk us through that. How will getting rid of a bunch of players benefit "almost everyone"? For instance, if I was a developer dependent on my players periodically purchasing currency or covers in order to continue to, you know, make money, I would think getting rid of players would be contrary to my purposes.

everything has already been said but I completely agree: the update of the UI is a disaster unworthy of this game.* We see the symbols too much but all the colors are alike.* We see less well the special tiles, the countdowns are too little visible* The screen which turns gray during the opponent's turn, it is really not possible1

I played the game for a few hours after the update and a few hours just now with no problems to my surprise. Then the lights were turned off and within minutes my eyes started to hurt. I am aware that I am sensitive to some light like the sunlight bouncing off of the snow, but I wasn't expecting this one. I know others are having issues, but I figured I would skate by with no problems. Bummer.Spudgutter said:The_Boogie said:

I am also curious about this: do you approach disabled people and mock them in person for their weakness, or do you just do that facelessly on the Internet?14 -

Thanks for the insight.
I take it that they gave some interns the freedom to re-design the game UI/UX as part of their school project. And they went, "Let's put this out and watch their reactions".0 -
To the people saying "if you don't like the update, just leave":Why should we have to leave? This is a game many of us have played for years, spending time and money. This isn't showing up and complaining about what exists. It's like showing up to your favorite hangout and discovering that they've installed 24/7 alarm clocks going off, but since the staff all wear noise-cancelling headphones they don't see the problem.Yes, there are lots of games out there. I have played them. I like this game. And I would like to continue to play this game. I'm not currently playing it, and I'm missing my resupply (2120 is my next) and everything, because the changes are physically painful to me.11

I keep checking this thread, loading up the game, and checking to see if there's a new update for the game in Google Play to see if there's any word from the developers... but absolute silence, as usual. No word on a fix or even just an apology acknowledging something might not be working as intended(tm). I'm going to give it through the weekend and if it's still the same response from D3 of hands in their pockets and looking around the room, I'm done with this game and company.
I'm getting really tired of the increasing disconnect with their users/customers. Been playing for over seven years now and been through the true healing debacle, the disaster that was the second Anniversary, Shardmas, and now this. I'm definitely not a whale when it came to spending, but I did contribute from time to time and I am a daily player, but this is just getting ridiculous.4 -
You must have missed the response on Twitter or the one by LakeStone. They've already said they will give some details in the next few day. I'll wait till next Wednesday and see.0
