  • What's more, they think Gravity Warp is really useful for getting rid of special tiles.

    ...We're ****.
  • I don't know where you read it, but if that's true, we're in trouble.

Our own devs not knowing how to play the game they made...
  • While I agree she's underrated, I think she's still subpar, low tier 2*, with only 2 usable skills, one of which is only usable some of the time.

"Gravity Warp is extremely useful for dealing with powerful enemy special tiles"

The full quote is, believe it or not, even worse.
Q: Which characters do you think are underrated and why? (Looking at the forum voted character rankings - viewtopic.php?f=14&t=18101)
A: I’ve always felt Moonstone was an undervalued character. Her Photon Blast gets wildly more powerful the more Red tiles are on the board. If you use Iron Man Model 40’s Recharge, you can generate enough Red AP to fire this ability without diluting the amount of Red on the board. Gravity Warp is extremely useful for dealing with powerful enemy special tiles. For the most part, characters only make special tiles on one color, so you can frequently force that tile to move into an auto-match. Control Shift is very expensive, but I’ve found there’s nothing more satisfying than stealing X-Force’s Recovery Countdown tile. icon_e_smile.gif

Saying she's underrated isn't the same as saying she's actually good....there are quite a few 2* who are worse than her.
  • That was my question to the Devs and it was great to see it answered, but I was a little suprised and I still don't quite believe it! On the current rankings I'd definitely have gone with someone like Hawkeye (Modern) due to speed shot and it's synergy with GSBW and MagsMN/CStorm. With the former it's possible to get a 7k total aoe going quite easily, and the latter combo generates about 5k aoe and a stun.

He really should be higher but I'd imagine most people abandoned him a long time ago and won't even try him again because they're past the 2* stage.

Uhhhh.... that quote sounds a tad bit crazy for a few reasons:

    1. Who uses IM40?
    2. Who uses IM40 with a 2* character, let alone Moonstone?
    3. Are you sure you want to take on a 4* Wolverine with those two? Don't you know that player has other great characters if 4* Wolverine is viable for them?
    4. By the time Moonstone gets enough black, 4* Wolverine either can fire 2 power moves or almost that.

(Non combative statement) I'm really curious how often and to what frequency the dev and design teams play the live game.

This all made me laugh a lot. So true.

Agree with those mentioning she isn't TERRIBLE, I still throw her into low level PVE matchups over Bullseye and Bagman and....sometimes Johnny Storm....she's on 2* cap level, mid(ish) tier. The purple is pretty good for damage when there are no special tiles out. She was the first 2* I covered and maxed, and I think I've used her black ability twice.

Hmph. I guess Moonstone is a bit underrated in the sense that she does have a decent amount of health and a decent red ability, but thinking that Gravity Warp is useful just shows how out-of-touch the development team is to the way the playerbase actually plays this game. Hell, I keep Gravity Warp at 3 covers so that it's LESS likely to swap special tiles and actually do something useful which is a bit of damage.
  • Let's face it, they probably said that just to get a rise out of the community and plan on sitting back and laughing at all of the responses.

The funny part about that answer was I think IM40 is one of the most underrated characters. At 166 he's got high HP and his yellow skill is quite the boost to certain teams. Plus Patch loves it when he stuns himself and hands over 9 red.
  • They're probably expecting too much for the average person to even think about how to use Gravity Warp let alone using it to setup match 4/5s.

In terms of damaging role only Thor is unquestionably better. Ares is also better, but he has his own drawbacks. Color overlap with OBW makes her less useful. She's also borderline guaranteed win against certain goons once you hit Control Shift, and that includes certain goon + villian combination, like anything with Muscle where you can steal a Threaten is pretty much game over. Yes Control Shift takes a ton of AP but if your opponet is level 300 it takes a long time to win too. After level shift it's generally not practical to try something like that though.

Its as if the dev's don't know that her pink is random on the special tile selection color.

This answer... would've made a lot more sense over them saying Moonstone. And it actually makes me want to try out that combo at some point.

my favourite comment was where the dev said taking control of X-Forces healing tile is sweet.

I challenge them to put up a video that shows them get the ungodly amount of blacktile.png for control shift and have it go off against X-Force.

bunch of out of touch developers, i tell ya.

This combo is better when you bring an IM40 with only 1 Yellow cover build, so that it fires off 2 Yellow matches (1 Yellow match if you boost pre-fight, or immediately available if you go full Red/Yellow & Rainbow boosts).

Granted this IM40 won't be a 166 high hit point tank, but instead one that functions as a battery and could be made low enough lvl-wise to hide behind Patch on Yellow & Red matches so that Patch tanks/Regens for him instead...

(my 4/4/1 Alt build IM40 is only Lvl 78 so that even Major Boosted in LRs or his own PvP, he STILL can hide behind Patch...)

Oh, I used to do this all the time when Patch and IM40 were boosted in the Lightning Rounds. The self stun really works in your favor with Patch. Maybe if they put Patch back in and don't take IM40 out next season we'll see that combo come back, they're both fun when boosted.

If you last for the 20 turns required to get up enough AP to use one of his abilities, and have enough extra AP to compensate for his extra AP drains. I love seeing IM40's up for attack on PVP. I'd put LCap against IM40 any day.

Actually, it's not as if that at all:
