Poor Spider-Man. His reputation has been damaged and dragged through the mud repeatedly on these forums to the point that he is almost now a villain. He is ignored, avoided, and treated like an outcast. Even Bagman's thread has been more popular lately! icon_e_confused.gif

Targeted with wild accusations that he is singularly responsible for the ruination of MPQ on a level that has not been seen since the days of pre-nerf Ragnarok, poor Spider-Man is accused of multiple crimes including, but not limited to, turning PvE scaling into the hot mess that it is and forcing the developers to raise the enemy level-cap to 400. icon_evil.gif

But I say thee nay! I will not be embarrassed to put Spider-Man in my party. I will not be ashamed to stun-lock groups of goons for five turns. And I will not call for the nerf-hammer! I am proud of my Spider-Man, a hero who has been my favorite spandex-clad champion since I was a small boy and discovered Ned Leeds was the Hobgoblin. "Ned Leeds is the Hobgoblin??? Holy-tinykitty!!!" icon_e_surprised.gif

So watch out, enemies of Dormammu! Because I'm bringing Spider-Man along, the friendly neighborhood hero who stood toe-to-toe with a Herald of Galactus!

What if they just changed Spiderman's Blue from Stun to say, Lockdown. The character cant move tiles or abilties, but abilties that are passive, or CD tiles wouldn't be affected.

Example: You Lockdown Hulk, he can't attack you, he can't cast active abilties, but if you damage him he will still get Angry.

Example 2: You lockdown Daken, then make a green tile Match, team would still get strike tiles.

Example 3: You lockdown IM40, he can't cast anything, but if he already cast recharge, the tiles would still count down.

I look at you arent' stunning the guys, you are sticking the guys. They can't move, they can't fire rockets or throw hammers, but what they've done is done and can't be stopped. If you allowed this, Spiderman loses power in PvE where he is a big problem, and in PvP you can counter him easier, knowing your Ares timer will still go down, or Daken will still generate you strike tiles, or IM40 can still recharge. Honestly this might be the simplest and easiest fix to Spider-man, he can't stunlock you anymore, just lock you

Its a reasonable idea except its complete useless against goons. Which is where its still needed unless they start to scale them back. So I would change it to a CD can count down but can't reach zero while a they are lockeddown. Ie Cap can't catch a returning shield (recover AP) if he is covered in web, a sniper can't get off a Shot but maybe he can aim, Torch can't burn you with flame jet, etc. Essentially CDs can only count down to 1. Personnaly I translate CDs into preparation time. You can't just shoot a rocket, you got load the rocket lancher and aim. MMN has to form a mass of shrapnel before he can release it, etc.
  • You have to keep the core part about spidey the same. He's known for shooting out webs that completely lock down someone and that or that type of ability needs to stay there. Any kind of balances or changes will have to address that....it could be as simple as removing the compounding stuns. You spend 2 blue. stun for one turn. end of story. Or who knows...but i'm pretty sure that core piece of spidey will be there.
  • So, general question: with the scaling, it seems like Spiderman is.... bad? I only have a few characters I rely on to grind out points and it seems having them healthy is important - Are people a) burning health packs or b) using spidey in prologue to bring them back up to full health? does scaling look at your health when you end the match or your health going into the match ( I assume the former?)?

I sculpt my runs such that I just use health packs to heal through the damage. I do 2 runs to 10th place: one ~15 hours before the end of the event, and one one hour before the event. With the right team its really not that hard to take some damage during each match and then gather the AP to burst them down.

    Prologue healing, yes.

DE_Will kinda confused the issue in the other thread, but generally, I just use patch to tank the hits, maybe intentionally eat a cooldown tile if he can survive it, and then take him into a goon node to regen back up

Have you seriously never heard of a spoiler warning!?! Tiny kitty Spider-Man and tiny kitty you icon_twisted.gif
  • The amount of damage you take has a very significant effect on how fast your personal scaling goes up.

That said as long as Spiderman and Magneto aren't on your team, you usually don't even need to pretend to take excess damage. Most of the hard battles will easily beat up your characters even if you're trying to win them.

Characters with a ton of HP like Thor or buffed Ares is pretty ideal for this since they sort of fill in your quota of damage while having enough HP to make sure you don't accidentally end up losing the fight (and if you're trying to lose the fight on purpose they sure got the most amount of HPs to lose to help your scaling).

But really unless you're a crazy person like phantron or most of shield, your personal scaling is a drop in the bucket compared to the community scaling anyway

The crazy community scaling is relatively new, right?

I guess my issue is my Spidey is my second best character - leveling up 2-3 other characters to rotate through the damage w/o web bandages is more HP and ISO than I care to drop over a short period of time... icon_rolleyes.gif
  • Community scaling has been around for a while, and it is indeed a pretty big part of your overall scaling unless you grind like crazy.

I was going to tell everyone who shot J.R. too, but I thought that might be going too far.

  • I checked out the forum and it says it is the #1 hero, I wonder after the latest patch is he still good?
I rolled a black panth, I wonder if I should reset my account for spider man,
may anyone please answer my question
    thank you so much
  • He is a good hero now, and no one if he is still going to be good after nerf or when the nerf even going to come out.
But i dont see how reseting your account is relevant to any of this.

1 3* cover won't really do anything but take up a roster slot

Yeah, I would definitely recommend against rerolling just to get spider-man: the 1 cover difference is super marginal, and you're going to have to spend way too long of a time to actually roll a blue spidey. I just wrote about him in my guide: he's seemingly the best character but you end up using him less and less as your roster gets better.

This is not Spiderman's new blue power, but many found it amusing, so sharing it here.
      Irresponsibility - Blue Passive
Spiderman hasn't been responsible with his great power. As punishment, when his team makes a blue match, he dies.
      Level Upgrades
Level 2: Spiderman dies on any blue match. Level 3: Spiderman's team dies on a blue match. Level 4: All characters belonging to the player die on a blue match. Level 5: All characters in the player's Alliance die on a blue match.
