These kitty death brackets. 1113, and I've already fallen to #7. At this rate, I'll need to do another shield hop to just stay in top 10

I consider our bracket to be fairly easier than the true death brackets.

How does spots under #10 look like?

At 1045 and still not finding any 40 pts matches icon_e_sad.gif Shielded and queued some 30 pointers after skipping the same names 50 times for a final push.
Are you shielded through the end, soenottelling?

  • For what it's worth, I'm shielded to the end with 1130. Have at it, guys.

    I really have to say:

Due to this new bracketing, and how fast people are attacked by wild banshees... things make it really hard to be fast

I was just at 993. Broke shield, did a match for 24 points. Used boosts to speed up match.

    1. Had to wait for the 3 separate animations for each boost at the start of the match.

    2. Every time there is the amimation/sound of Daken creating strike tiles can really add up too.

    3. End of match fanfare followed by 1 or 2 splash screens with scores, etc. Heaven forbid your team caused a mega cascade that downed the final member of the opposition, that will just continue on until it finally stops, all the way through the already long fanfare.

    4. Crossing 1k meant I got the progression. Come out of the match, already slowed down by 1, 2 and 3 (see above)...and then faced with an slow animated title graphic for 1k reward, then something else, then shown the slow animation for the 1,100k reward title.

In the time for all of these things to happen, I could have been well into a second match. Instead, I barely make it through one and have time to throw on a shield just before 2 hits that would have cost me -90 points.

Just my 2 cents and observations.

Oh god yeah the boost animation is a killer. And in this tourney the cascade at the end is worsened even more by the fact that if you get green matches daken is still going to do his **** animation lol

I knew I forgot to add something to #3, lol.

Yeah. Those things are cool and neat...but in crunch time, every second counts. Bad enough some matches already take 5-10+ minutes in some cases. These things just add to that, leaving you exposed for too long as obviously, as soon as we unshield, we must replace all active nodes for others since we get smacked so fast.
  • Opening boost animation shoukd be one screen showing all boosts instead of 3 seperate
  • Could be people aggressively skipping to find targets over 20 points so you pop up in their queues fast. I know I do that. Fell from 2nd to 5th in the last hour, not impressed. The people who can get to 1100 in my bracket at least had shield hopped at least twice. I am not willing to do that. But I may need to unshield at the end or lose the red thor...

I got to 1100 without shield hopping, just took like 10 tries.

May I ask what level your Daken is currently? EDIT: as low level as well props. I was sliding with each match I played and only shielded because I got a defensive win putting me at an acceptable but not very happy level of points.
  • Maybe the new bracketing is to blame, but this was nuts... last night I got as far as about 840 before I was blasted by attacks faster than I could rise, gave up after 3 more wins left me at about 650. Woke up all the way back to about 400. Worked a bit up on the train this morning and going to try and gain against the tide tonight but man.

I am glad both me and my alliance put the hard yards in earlier in the season. I wouldn't want to be scrambling for points in this one, it's insane.

By 10 tries, I mean hitting 1000, lose 105 points after you win next match, and then start over counts as one try. I had two retaliation against 1100+ guys saved up and I hit like 1010 and a 45 point target popped up (Bee I think), so I decided to boost and go for it and got 1100. I don't mean it's easy, but if you keep on trying, you might get lucky.

I lost 540 points from my high of 1050 yesterday.

Things are definitely pretty insane out there right now.
  • I figured I would unshield and attack because I'm buying that last Thor cover regardless with my banked hp and its cheaper to hop. Finish second match with the intention of shielding at 1078 and was hit by a guy with 500 points like for **** sakes. I'm up but not by much this is ****.

EDIT: Shielded an attack from 326 are you kidding? That's a 700 point difference.

Yeah, this is really the first event that has truly not been fun to play. I don't mind being in a competitive setting, having a challenge and so forth, but this is a bit much. I'm about 840 points in and I'm not even in the top 50, a first in my experience. I would not mind this so much if I could keep going. But the combination of not having health packs and quite literally exiting a 31 point fight to find out I just lost 33 points from someone else stacks the deck too heavily against me. I get that the end of the season is bringing in the heavy hitters, but I'm feeling totally out of my element now. I'm not even a casual player, I can't imagine how frustrating this must be for the people that say pick up this game for only a limited amount of time a day.

There's competition, and then there's just being out of your league.

wow... been seeing lots like that myself. Even if unshielded less than 5 minutes, lots of hits across the shield, many far below 400 and 500 points. Worst I saw in last event was someone actually clocked me mid match for -47, they had less than 200 points and I was almost to 1k. Royally screws you as the retal is less than 10 points, but they just eat all your dinner, and drink all your booze too.

EDIT: And just heard from one of our transitioning 1*-2 members. They are 1st in their bracket with 602 points.

EDIT2:... just said he was 42nd in the last PvP with 742.

How do these new bracket/MMR changes make any sense at all?

Wow, that is quite absurd. I've seen around 46 pt matches, but that's got to be 49 or 50 right? That's crazy and they really need to fix it so that doesn't happen. 50 pt matches just shouldn't be happening unless it's like 1100 vs 1900 or something crazy like that.
