    Three easy votes in flight 4. Riri vs Sam is a complete mismatch, and Mockingbird's damage output and AP generation blows War Machine away. I used to like Spider-Woman more, but the recent nerf to trap tiles (they are not triggered when destroyed by a match-4 line) hurt her pretty badly, so that's an easy nod to Kate.

    The tricky one was Cage vs. Panther. Cage makes you invincible to goons, and he is annoying to fight in PVP, but his powers are pretty expensive. He does hit like a truck when boosted and pairing him with Fist is kinda fun.
    Panther is harder to evaluate since he is new and I don't have him fully covered, but it seems like there's a good chance of him being part of a new "fortified tile" meta. He has relatively cheap powers, he can generate lots of special tiles, and he has a passive that can do damage.

    Ultimately I voted for Panther because he seems to be quite versatile. Shuri is a great partner off the bat, but I think as more people get him champed there will be more good team ideas featuring T'Challa.

    Would be fun if there were any dramatic upsets like in the tournament this is modeled after.

    Blade is a tough draw for Nico. Nico seems like one of the more underrated characters in terms of seed position. In the current special tile heavy meta, I could have seen Nico upsetting some of the 5 or 6 seeds that are listed. But, no way she upsets Blade.

    The results for Flight 5 are in; we actually had a moderately-competitive match between the 8 and 9 seeds -- a foregleam of things to come in the second round, I suspect.

    Now I'm not saying Venom is good or should have won but I have never quite understood the Red Hulk love. He is OK (and I hate his purple power as an AI TU Gah!!!!) but he always feels a bit clunky to me.

    I agree, I’ve never liked Red Hulk as a character and I don’t find his powers fun or interesting. On the other hand it’s impossible to deny how powerful he is and Venom just doesn’t have that. I feel the same way about Iceman versus Devil Dinosaur.

    You Red Hulk haters are nuts  :p
    I'm probably biased because he was one of my first 5-7 champs and was my work horse for a while.  He's a slow nuke character which can also tank.  If his AP cost wasn't so high he'd be more usable now, but even still when he boosted and if you bring someone like switch with him he's a lot of fun.

    His green power can be sooooo frustrating, especially up against any AP stealer. At least with most characters you get to the point where you can fire their power and bam, you are good to go.  Not Red Hulk - do you settle for the mediocre AOE or go for the OMG AOE? Whichever you choose will be the wrong one! If you go for OMG then guarantee the next turn the opposition either steals your green AP or unloads all of theirs, so even if you have purple it is useless. So now you are stuck with the same conundrum! OK - so no I'll wait it out, it isn't that much AP to get! All the time the other team are battering you whilst that AP bar flashes! Shall I fire it? No - I can get there! By the time you finally get there, your other characters have finished off the enemy team having got bored waiting!

    Nope. His Purple generates Green regardless of whether the enemy has any Green AP or not. It's not a steal of enemy Green, 

    When paired with someone like Switch who generates Purple (or even Medusa if the enemy team generates a lot of special tiles) he can get 18 green very quickly with a couple of uses of his Purple.

    I think he meant the agony when going up against hood or another rhulk, with them stealing greens before finally reaching 18 (or 11 with purple ready).

    But i think pairing with im40 and/or switch, he is possibly the most devestating 4* out there..
