I'm still a good 4.5k behind my leader, and if I grind the current nodes to death, I may lower that by 1k or so. I just don't know how I'm expected to be able to catch up like that.
  • Is there any reason to clear the lowest nodes right away rather than at the first refresh? It seems pointless to get 60 points.

I'm nervous on cmags with the nerf coming up, hulk can still tank all the colors except yellow depending where you place him during setup. I never even thought about cap hahaha. Forgot about his 3 star self!!

I have my patch with 5 red and love it. But those are certainly solid other options!

So the devs passed up another easy chance to fix this mess. They could also have set rubberbanding for this sub to global main bracket leader, which they clearly haven't done.

That would be because the final round (Osborne's Tower) is played on the main map, where the rubberband IS based off the global leader score. You can already see the rubberband forming on the few low-level nodes that are open on the main map (assuming you didn't already clear them out). Be patient on this one. Given the timing to clear the first sub, we are looking at 36-48 hours of high point nodes on the main map if you consider what is currently open on the map to the be lowest point nodes in the main event.

Oh, I know, I'm just worried the repeatable nodes in the main (or their rubberband caps) will be too low to make a difference. I'm pretty sure I'm in the worst possible scenario, having started the main but not a sub when the change happened. I was immediately 8000 points behind. I've made up 2500 of that.

EDIT: Sorry, lost my point there. My point was it would have pretty much evened everyone out if they had given better node values in the Tower sub. That would have violated the Almighty Prime Directive, though: "Thou shalt give out no progression rewards."

I guess I hit the jackpot, had only started the main when the points crashed. Even got a late main bracket where most had already benefitted from the high scores.
  • Whoo! Got a Patch cover from my tokens icon_e_biggrin.gif He's now at amazing two covers. Rising like a Phoenix here. At least he can now heal all this damage he's not tanking because he's not high enough level to tank anything but environment. Baby steps. Baby steps.

I had done that one full clear of the main/sub nodes before the change, but had only played each node once each. Even before the change, I was already behind by 4-5k, but I didn't want to replay any nodes due to scaling concerns, so waited for rubberbanding. Then, the change happened. Clearing the nodes that first time gave me 3,200 or so points total. I had to replay some nodes last night/today, but did my best not to grind any of them more than a few plays (never back to back). I managed to get up close to 12,500 - BUT, I'm still almost 5k back from the leader, and even with the points, was 24th in my sub.

Point is, I don't see any way we can actually "catch up" unless the leaders quit playing completely. At the end of the node, all of my nodes were sub 200, and now, the new sub nodes aren't much better. Going to be interesting.
  • I was one of those caught out by the 3/7 debacle and was about 4000 points in arrears as a result. I had to grind a way more than I wanted to but I eventually got to within 1300 points at the end of the sub. I just did my first clear of the new sub and have made 1st temporarily, but my levels have scaled up a bit so I'm not going to grind anymore unless it looks like I'm starting to drift again.

During my first clear I got wiped like 3 times in the essentials, and noticed the levels actually did reduce by 10 in one node and 20 in another. Part of the reason I was getting wiped is because for some reason almost every node I've played has featured boards predominantly populated with black, blue and and purple and I was using Patch, Thor and Storm. So typical. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yup... I can't even catch up to my sub leader unless I grind all nodes to 1, and even if I did that, I'm too far away from main leader to even place Top 50. Woohoo!

MPQ should have a name change to "How to Piss Your Players" or HTPYP for short... if that's not suitable then the name should be "Kiss My Hairy ****"

My sub-bracket leader has 3460 points... he must have grinded everything to 1 >.<
And his roster is lvl 85 Magneto, 85 Thor, 69 C.A, 43 Wolv... doesnt even have M.Storm _-_

lol...no kidding. And you're right. Even if I had grinded down to 1, I still would not have made enough ground, and just would have completely screwed my scaling. There just doesn't seem to be a true "optimum" way to play this one really.
  • aaronschmiz started a new tracking thread for the Tower sub; I stuck my stats analysis of the City sub in that thread here.

Summary: As predicted, worldwide progress increased towards the end of the sub. Surprisingly, the rate shifted into only slightly higher gear (less than double the earlier rate); the rate didn't go exponential towards the end; and the rate uptick happened at around 80% completion, not 90% or 95%, and stayed constant from that point.
  • I'm a little confused - I don't see the tower sub bracket, but the main bracket only has the four mandatory, unrepeatable missions. I don't see any Osborn missions I can do.

I was out doing mother day prep in the morning, at a birthday party in the afternoon, and then had some friend over and had no idea city was closing so soon. I'd done basically nothing on it. I'd like to do other brackets, but I don't see them.

Complete the nodes in the main bracket and then the Tower sub-bracket will show up.

Edit: Or do you mean that you don't have any open nodes in the main bracket? If that's the case, it sounds like you might have run into a bug.
  • My main is the cushiest bracket I've ever had with the ladder in it. Joined a couple of hours before the sub went away and it's still not filled up. While good for me and the 300ish people who got in before the first sub ended, it looks like more filtering in effect. There's no way it wouldn't be full otherwise.
  • My Favorite team in this is Patch 141 IM40 141 and Mags 55. I just build Blue to get IM to 20 then lay down some strike tiles and then Ballistic Salvo everyone with IM. Games go pretty quickly.

MN Mags Purple --> IM40 Blue? Not a bad idea and I didn't think about that combo. I like this and will have to try this out.

I don't think I saw it mentioned in this thread, but looks like Daken is declassified in the rewards section. The character forum has an updated first post for Classic Daken now.

My general team has been Patch/Psylocke/Hawkeye. Clint doesn't have much health, but he grants purple damage and 8 AP for a critical (that can often be used as an emergency match to clear a countdown). If my Magneto was more leveled I would try him as well. Maybe I'll give him a whirl while Hawkeye is downed.
  • I've been running the Patch/MN.Mags/IM40 combo as well, and one thing I'll add is you probably want to sequence B.Rage/TBTI then Polarity Shift then Ballistic Salvo. In that order, you can get ridiculous multi-dipping out of MN.Mags blue--setting up 4-matches to clear enemy strike tiles/CDs, each blue match is buffed by your strike tiles, and feeding the resulting blue to IM40. Of course, IM40's yellow is also good for setting up TBTI at 1, TBTI/Salvo at 2, and TBTI/Salvo/B.Rage at 3.
