We're at 65% completion for hte bracket so I think there's at least one full refresh left (assuming you just finished now), but this timing is going to get pretty tight.

There is 139M points left to go we doing around 6.2 Million an hour meaning I think there is 22 and a half hours to go. Hence one more refresh for sure very iffy for two hence only do 3 of the six high value nodes in me hedging my bets. It should be clear in 11 hours if it possible to squeeze in another one or I just leave them to the end

I tend to stop grinding nodes when they're in double digits rather than grinding them down to 1, but I entered a bracket this morning, just finished my second session (which I began 12.5 hours later), and am still 4000 points behind the leader. What foul sorcery is this? Are refreshes longer than 12 hours?

With the reduced rubberbanding, a guy who is able to get an extra refresh in will have a lead that cannot be made up in one refresh even if you grinded everything down to 1.

Yeah, I know, but I was assuming that the brackets are made up of people entering at a similar time and since I played my first two refreshes tightly, there shouldn't have been anyone in my bracket able to get in another refresh icon_question.gif

I'm considering doing some hedging as well. Thinking of doing three of the six top point nodes on my "predicted" time, and then if I mistimed it to be too late, then I still have 3 high point nodes for those last minutes (assuming I can actually play at that time.)

So... now that the angry horde has dissipated for the most part, lets talk some strategy and team compositions!

Of course, with Patch getting +90 levels he's kinda the go to guy for the tournament, but it's still fun to look at alternative team compositions and strategies that people are using, especially for people that don't have a level 230 Patch (myself included, as mine's "only" 125).

I think I have two main ones that are optimized to either win battles or counteract scaling:
    1. Patch + level 1 M. Storm (boosted to 41) + level 1 C. Hawkeye (Boosted to 41): Hawkeye tanks purple, M. Storm tanks black. The strategy here is to berzerker rage just before a critical goon countdown or enemy attack, and have M. Storm/Hawkeye tank the hit and take a huge amount of damage. Quickest way ever of tanking your MMR on those pesky low level fights against 41 goons! The best part is that since you're using level 1 guys, they heal up to full in 10 minutes. My roster currently has 3 M. Storms: 1 that I have leveled to 30, and 2 at level 1 that I keep specifically for tanking random things. I currently have 6 slots in my roster dedicated to tanking, and I'm considering opening up some more.

    2. IM40+MN Mags+Whoever(Patch/Psylocke/LazyThor) - Build your own rage of the panther with MN Mags blue feeding IM40, essentially. This is my real team that I use against nodes like Rampage where I can't just Patch tank everything. I only bring this out when the node can deal good damage to my team, so that my MMR stays low.

Maybe I'm just deluding myself, but community scaling is so strong this event, I'm not sure individual tanking really matters

Cleared my nodes 2 times since the beginning of the event.. Good for 7 k.. My sub leader is at 10k+.. And main is 13k+.. # 500 atm.. But as demiurge said i must have not put enough effort to deserve those 3* daken.. So whats left to me is to grind nodes to death to face 300+ daken and feel happy about it.. And maybe i got a very useful bullseye. I m utterly disgusted.. And above all no excuses on the matter.. At least just to say .. Well apologies to the community for the mess.. We do better next time.. It s not gonna change the fact that i ve my **** handed but it will alleviate some of the pain i m gonna face in this broken event trying to catch up this insurmountable gap..

After lots and lots of grinding to catch up to the people that got freebies, I'm now facing level 218 opponents.

Ares - Analyst - Soldier --- Ares can make fast work of most teams on his own, and he's getting fed red and green. The Suppressing Fire steals Red, Yellow, and Green. It's nearly impossible to get any sort of board control down in time to prevent the Suppressing Fire.

At level 190, I can barely pull this one off. It's possible to do level 218 with boosts, barely.
  • I just use Patches (he's totes adorbs), IM40 and M. Storm. I built a spare 5/5/3 lvl 1 M. Storm in LRs yesterday and I sure needed her.

The best part about the setup is that Recharge stuns IM40 and usually gives Patches (like a puppy!) enough red for The Best There Is. Patches tanks everything except black with IM40 stunned so that ends the fight right there in most cases. I just might go 4/5/4 once the Top Gun rewards roll in.

No good stun and purple goes to waste, though.

Just won the Rampage with 2 chars dead and the third one barely standing. Immediately got +10 lvls to enemies. Do i miss something in how pve scaling works?..

Seems like its the difference between the 124 rampage node vs the 190 rampage node that other people are seeing.

Community scaling will increase my levels even when I don't play, or if you play and lose. If I play and win, my personal scaling will increase the levels more. If I play and win without taking heavy damage, my levels will increase much more. So there is no escaping it, but playing "poorly" can help to slow down how fast it increases. Does that seem about right?

Almost: I think if you play and win unconvincingly, then your scaling will either stay the same or decrease slightly depending on how well you did in the match.

If you are still winning the match there would have to be negatives in place to reverse your scaling for winning the match. Without developers providing the numbers, I would guess your scaling goes up, at least slightly, for every match you win.

a lot to read, just wanted to ask:

Ice has said that community scaling will reset for each sub, or is it personal too?

2Ice: can you at least promise to completely reset personal scaling after this fail event? Ideally before each sub, of course.

edit: if my Rampage node is at 128 now, is it community scaling? Levels at 'Daken' in main increased from 60-ish to 67.
  • When he says that scaling for each sub will reset I think he means that the rubber-banding will be based upon first place in your sub-bracket. He said there would be grind-able nodes in the main part of Heroic Oscorp that would eventually unlock to help with rubber-banding in your main bracket.

I'll grab onto any olive branch I can get at this point. To play interpreter, I think IceIX, in his news post, is basically reinforcing the fact that the yet-to-be-opened repeatable nodes in the main event will help you close the overall gap to the leader. The current gap that you have in the sub may be insurmountable at this point, but I'd rather lose out on one sub reward than the main reward.

You just is **** kissing guy. And you needed kindergarten math book more than the tinykitty clowns of D3, lol. Repeatable nodes in the main don't solve problem, cuz guys from Top 30 will clear them too.
  • I...might wait until after mother's day to join...but I am worried that I might be put in a slow bracket that started a day earlier or something with no way to catch up..Baah. somebody holler when this first sub thingy whatever happens..I might just join a little after that ish drops.

OTERSEY, but won't their rubberbanding be extemely weak? Non-existent, to be exact?

Edit: sorry didn't know that icon_e_biggrin.gif

I believe so. From my experience in the last event it won't be enough to boost you right into the covers, but it will be a boost once those nodes are unlocked.

I guess, with a handicap of over 9000 points icon_lol.gif , they may don't worry about that.

P.S. OTERSEY. Always caps, never petite. Thanks.
