Edit: Now there's actually somewhat of a solution. Still don't think rewards are achievable for me, but I may play a bit.

There's actually a more substantive post further up the thread. Most of us think it's pretty unacceptable, but it's more substantive.

This thread was opened about ten minutes before your post. viewtopic.php?f=20&t=7081

But I had not yet seen the above, because I was busy ordering a book.

Great news! It's something, which is more than I was expecting.

Check the News and Announcements board. They just posted an update to the rewards, 50% more people getting higher tier rewards. Contrary to popular belief not every dev works on every feature or update.
  • They've officially expanded the final rewards to Top 30/Top 150/Top 150 Alliance for Daken. We'll take any good news at this point! Thanks Devs!

This is hardly the first comment that the devs have posted on this forum: there have been a ton of constructive comments posted earlier, and IceIX did just post an update to the issue on the main forum: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=7081. I doubt that that was the answer the angry horde was looking for, but it's at least a gesture of goodwill to the community. Will's comment was just trying to add some humor to what is otherwise a bleak and desolate thread, and attacking that just seems like a very **** thing to do.

There was already an answer posted, people just don't like the answer. Read back into the thread.

For what it's worth, I'll post before and after pictures of my garden. I expect to get a lot of work done on it. Of course, since midnight EST last night until now, I've closed the gap to less than 2K (from over 4k) and haven't even done a full grind of the nodes yet. So either I'm one of the lucky ones who was playing mid-change, or Will's explanation really is pretty accurate.

For the record, I've gone from ~6400 to 9300 this morning. The leader went from 10K to 11K. No horrific scaling as of yet (we'll see how it ramps up). Rampage is at lvl 120 and currently worth 152 points, and I've earned 23 / 36 node rewards so far. So I won't be catching anyone on my main this sub, but it's definitely possible in the long run.

The main advantage I think I will have is that I still get more rubberbanding than my leader. So from here on out, I should be able to play a similar number of nodes as the leader and still close that gap even more. I had to work harder to catch up, but he'll always have to work harder to stay ahead now.

Great, gonna need some new batteries for my TI83. They're almost dead thanks to retribution. icon_lol.gif

Hate to say it, I mostly seem to live in MPQ. They sure got some ugly bugs here...

And? How this +10 / +50 bonus positions eliminates difference in 5000-9000 points? Thanks, aha.

  • Only extending the blue cover rewards from 20 to 30 top ranked is pretty weak.

That's great, 50 more people per bracket will get the Daken cover. I'm not sure it will help me sitting at rank 533 currently.. icon_rolleyes.gif

I'll grab onto any olive branch I can get at this point. To play interpreter, I think IceIX, in his news post, is basically reinforcing the fact that the yet-to-be-opened repeatable nodes in the main event will help you close the overall gap to the leader. The current gap that you have in the sub may be insurmountable at this point, but I'd rather lose out on one sub reward than the main reward.
  • Let me get this straight. For the last I don't know how many PvE events, we weren't able to reach the top progression rewards. Nothing happened. Now that this event is giving us too many points, they reduce node points asap.

It's like at the arcade where they have this awesome prize that requires an insane amount of tickets. Usually, no one ever wins it, and you probably should just spend money and buy it instead of using tickets if you really want it.

    The 800 off isn't in relation to the daily deal price. 16000 - 15200 = 800.

I can see how it's confusing, though...probably could look more obvious from a design perspective.

      Anger - Black Passive
The players are angry! When the chance of winning a rare cover is less than 5%, 1 basic Green monetary unit is converted to a mandatory healthpack.
      Level Upgrades
Level 2: Scaling forces the players to buy two healthpacks. Level 3: Grinding has pushed Juggs to level 350. Anger intensifies. Level 4: Chance of an ornery post on the forum increases to 35%. Level 5: Level 700 Ares only offers 50 points, when 4000 points are needed.
Max Level: Chance of an ornery post on the forum increases to 95%.

Replace obvious with obfuscated and you have one of their primary design objectives

"We've given the players the complete flexibility to customize their characters however they so choose. Therefore a player can opt to keep this skill at 3 covers, effectively reducing over 90% chance of ornery post on the forums. In other words, this skill is working as intended."

I know they've got their metrics and such, and I know that they'll start giving out more L'Dak'n covers after the event...but I've never understood why they make getting a 1/1/1 on release so difficult. Given that they seem to make money on people buying more covers, wouldn't they want a decent amount of people to get 1/1/1 initially, and then make them really tough to obtain?

As it is, now 1/1/1 is tough initially, but then they dole them out pretty well for a bit.
