  • 31 pages in this topic and it's only but up for 24hrs. That should tell you something...
  • I wish I knew how to do memes (if that's the right word). This reminds me of the cartoon of the bosses busting a gut laughing at the employee suggestions from the suggestion box....or was it the Far Side one of the devil reading the suggestion box in hell.
I rather feel reminded of this one:

  • You know wht could be a simple solution. Not everyone is going to agree with this, but...

Open up 2 or 3 nodes. That simple.

The game mechanics nd logs know when a "Main Bracket was opened" and who lives inside of it. So, presumably, the 400th ranked player 6K behind the leader of his bracket cannot catch up and opened the main, and got screwed in the Sub.

So, all that needs to be done is add a Node (or 2 or 3). Lock that node for players that are ridiculously far ahead. Said node does not count towards sub-event progression, but does towards Main Bracket. Make the node worth 2K and relatively easy. That will let alot of players make up the "lost ground" be fair to everyone who feels they got screwed. Will not screw up the sub-Event progression and should apease just about everyone, except for a small percentage of the hard core players.

This will also allow to not screw everyone with the Scaling. Make it static and locked if above X points vs. Leader. Let it be hit once and than locked like so many other nodes.

Your problem could be fixed relatively simply...
  • So it's been nearly 24 hours since I joined my brackets and did a first clear. Haven't touched nodes since then really. I'm 6k down in my main and my sub since I decided to join them, do some stuff around the house and yard, and come back. In that time points dropped. Rampage is now worth a whopping 552 points, but has scaled by 30+ levels. Without me playing it.

I honestly see no reason to even play in this PVE anymore. I have no realistic shot at rewards without spending a ton of time grinding which will still probably not catch me up, and in the process totally kill my MMR based scaling until the end of time. Why bother?

I'm in complete agreement about how poorly this was handled from a CS perspective. D3 showed that they could respond in a quick and timely fashion when there was a problem with an event. They did this within hours of the event starting. They have then shown that while capable of doing this, they are actively choosing not to do it again.

Just grind it out and cross your fingers that everyone ahead of you gives up, is not a good enough answer.

I don't think creating a custom Sub and opening it up to a certain subset of users would be anywhere near "simple" for them to do.

Now, will he actually send it?! Come on peer/community pressure!!
  • Hey Demiurge Will what will be the most likely outcome if the guys affected by the point valuation change were not able to catch up?

And so they leave the playerbase to grind extra refreshes just to play catch up with an official 'sucks to be you' message.

A few weeks later, they look at their metrics for the event and say "wow, look at how many players are grinding out every refresh in this event. They sure are engaged. We should do this more often."

Not a custom Sub. A single or multiple pins within the current Sub. That can easily be done without disrupting anything. It happens all the time.

No, no, both wrong. They are alien bugs. They were all over the ship last time I was abducted, which was on April 31.

I don't want to live where you live if those are what the bugs look like...

Nah, dude. Aliens. Rocking in space. On a rock... in Space...

    edit: SPAaaaaaaace!
  • Let me get this straight. For the last I don't know how many PvE events, we weren't able to reach the top progression rewards. Nothing happened. Now that this event is giving us too many points, they reduce node points asap.
