Do you like the new PvP system (progression rewards based on wins instead of points gained)?

When i get home, if i want to play video games on PC or console, i fire it up and play.  Maybe for 30 minutes, maybe for two hours.  Either way, it's on my schedule.  We are just looking for some flexibility in that regards.  This is a mobile game (mostly, apologies to steam users).  If i am in line at the bank, is it so wrong to want to play this game for 5 minutes?  If i am on my lunch break, why can't i get in a couple matches?  The examples are endless.

Again, I, and others, get that it is not the current model.  But if you are going to respond to me, answer me this first: if they put the cp back into progression, and make the win counts reasonable, would you still be against it?
That is why the shield system exists basically... so that you can play when you want and then shield to save your score until you are ready to play again, but im gonna guess that you are unwilling to spend the HP to shield like a lot of people who think PVP should be easy and prefer the progression-by-wins test they tried.

And how is it better to ask you to basically grind out wins to achieve the same rewards? It takes me about 25 matches to hit 1200 and overall, its not very time-consuming.

The shield system we have right now works pretty well, as long as you know how to use it, which is when to climb and when to shield. And that you're willing to spend HP to get those progression rewards.

If they lowered it to 20 wins for the 4* cover and CP was at 30 wins, I'd be fine with it. But, hahahaha, that will never happen because its just too easy and its fairly obvious they want CP scarcity to be a thing.

It will also never happen because people wouldn't shield anymore and I'm pretty sure that a lot of HP is used for shields, they probably don't want to lose a revenue stream.
Actually, i do use shields, and hit 900 every event without coordination. Been playing for 1300+ days, so i have a great roster just because of time spent and rewards earned.

But again, you miss my point completely.

If i am on the way to work, and am sitting in a long drive thru line for breakfast, can i play some mpq?  Not if I'm shielded.  Get home from work, put something on the grill for dinner, got some time to kill, can i play some mpq?  Nope, shielded.

And please don't counter that i can play pve.  What if i already ground my nodes down and got all the rewards?  Or sim, because that still has a score placed progression.  Neither are the best counter arguments, and not the topic of this discussion.

You say you dont want to grind out wins, but you do that already. Why can't others get rewards after 25 wins?  Why are you better then them?  Sure, better rosters should do better.  Then your reward is you did it in less time.  25 matches to you sounds like it isn't terrible, to others its a pretty big hurdle.  I'm trying to think of a positive outcome for everyone, not selfishly trying to keep it good for a small group of people. (Edit: i dont mean selfishly as a personal attack.  I am trying to imply the negative connotation.  After rereading, i came off a little harsh there)

You say the shield system as it is already works, and yet more people voted yes to this poll.  Obviously, this poll is not exactly conclusive, and your opinion anecdotal, so we should take each with a grain of salt.

And so your arguememt is they won't put the cp back in, because they want to keep the resource scarce, but under the current model, more than 10 people can get it?  That's contradictory. Keep it at 1200.  Let people with the best rosters continue to use hp for shields to get top placement and to get that 1200+ score for the cp.  Everyone wins.

There's an old saying, "a rising tide raises all ships."  If everyone is more engaged with ALL aspects of mpq, we all win.  Why do people keep arguing against that?

If you plan your shields properly, you can basically play when you want. (I agree its not perfect btw, the cooldown especially annoys me)

We can get better rewards with fewer matches because we have better rosters, there, what else is there to say?
It's not fair and it does not need to be.

Can veterans keep that single friggin advantage of developping our rosters for 3 years? Is that too much to ask?
We get punished in PVE with scaling, we even get punished with MMR if you level your chars too much.

PVP is pretty much the end-game content of this game and I'm perfectly fine with it being gated. There are lower shield clearances for a reason.

I really dont get why people who put in less time and effort should get the same rewards... that makes no frigging sense. Not only that, lets give them the same rewards and remove the CP at 1200 and dump it in top10 which is really difficult to attain.

And to your point about 1200, just in CL7, I often hit 1200 and finish between 10 to 30th. And there's probably more people hitting the CP and not shielding. Its probably even more people in CL8.

Top10 for the CP is ridiculous, there are currently a lot more than 10 people who hit 1200 in every slice.

It's a classic tale of new players versus vets.  The vets abhor the system because it is already long and awful to fight upper tier battles.  Most vets get to 1200 in less than 20 wins, let alone getting the 900 prize at 40 wins.  It just encourages vets to beat upon lower rostered characters just for wins, which is not fair to them.

For new players, they have a much larger roster available to them and quicker matches.  I can see pros/cons to both.

If a dev were to read this I'd say to keep PVP Season the way it is without changes.  Then, make PVP simulator wins only.  No points anywhere and it doesn't count towards Season points.  Let the Sim progression prizes be # of wins (and not as crazy high as 40).  Many vets just ignore PVP Sim now because it's such a slog on top of LRs, 5-clear (minimum) PVE, and regular PVP.

(Addendum: when we started Q'ing you, here was a brief discussion of dump boosting you to 1200 for fun, but as we can only Q you very early in the event from much higher, it was not feasible. Left you a few good point retals though)

Again, arguing semantics about playing "when you want," so lets drop that discussion.

Next couple paragraphs, i agree.  There should be benfits to roster building.  But, there should also be a path to those better rosters, right?  Something where if you put the time in, you can do better?  Since the CL only splits the rewards, and not the opponents, i don't think that applies.

And i think they shoukd fix the scaling for high end rosters in pve.  Make a poll about that, i will agree in the affirmative. I'm your huckleberry on that as well.  See my pattern?  I want everyone to enjoy their mpq experience.

The cp arguememt was a response to your post, i think you lost something in the translation

    Progression was better.

Just played a game. I had 875. Finished with 41 points but lost 200 during game.

I threw my phone....... Pvp is the freaking worst and I truly needed that red agent venom card (2/5/5). Now I'm done playing for the night because I will never get to 900 this time around.

    I quit

Were you at 875 and shielded?  Because that shouldn't have been enough time to lose that many points?

Or did you climb to 875 and then try for one more fight?  That sounds like you would have suddenly been a pretty tasty q along with being out for a while so the point loss makes more sense.

When you are past 800 points you need to be shielding and trying no more than 2 or 3 fights at time.  You are available to too many rosters to not get hit unless you are rocking two champed 5*s.  You have to understand that at that point it is a resource management exercise.  You are trading 75 or 150 HP for a 4* cover.  Sames goes for hitting 1200.  You are then trading 600-900 HP for 15CP and a 4* cover.

The tips to get to 900 keep coming in, so i will repeat what has been countered after each one: we don't want to have to play the shield hop game.

We get it, under the current model, that is what you have to do.  So, if you are reading this, please stop giving advice on how to do this!  This thread is about the pvp progression test.  So far, more people have said that they enjoyed it.  Sure, myself and others are on your side that 40 wins is waaaaaay too much, and it was a tinykitty move to pull the cp out. Lets not throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Thanks for your preaching and telling people what not to post.

Some of us don't want to play a mindless match 3 game like the 50 others available on Google play and apple stores. If you want that might I suggest Bejeweled blitz for you?

There is already a game mode that fits what your asking for and that's PVE & DDQ. PvP has a fun risk play mode in it that many of us do enjoy.

Also, don't forget many of us who can handle PvP had to go thru the rough patches too. Just seems this current crop of anti-pvp player wants the rewards basically handed to them.

And get off my tinykitty yard with your skateboards and your rock music...

The fact that progression rewards are unattainable for a large portion of players is a concern, if you can't see that I can't help you.

That being said I awknowldege this solution wasn't perfect, but there still needs to be a solutions.  Some I've already suggested:
    • Keep win based but add a few point based as well (every 300 points for example) and put the 1200 as the 15 CP.
    • Scrap the win based idea, instead do progression points based but when you get attacked you lose points from placement points but not progression points (2 separate variables)

Well, i did say please, so i didn't think it was too preachy.

What's mindless about it?  Either you play according to the schedule dictated by the current meta, or you play according to a revised, progression based meta, right?  Same amount of matches, either way, right?  With that said, i don't see your argument. (I know it isn't the same amount of matches yet, but if they make it better, would you change your mind then?)

I said in another response, pve and ddq aren't an adequate response.  What if you dont have all the essentials? What if you already played them 6 times? Apples and oranges.  Not to be preachy, but i am arguing about pvp progression, why keep bringing up pve?  Besides, how do you define "many of us?"  Did you see that more people responded to the poll that they liked it?  You have your anecdotal evidence one way, i have it the other.

Last paragraph is just straight up gate keeping. Just because it "seems" like everyone wants it handed to them, it must be true?  Besides, so what if you and i had to slog thru it the last 3.5 years?  If new people feel turned off and decide not to become vets like us, then it will just be us at some point.

You say gate-keeping like it's some horrible crime...I don't want someone to be able to pick up the game and be immediately competitive at high-end PvP. If I just picked up the game I wouldn't expect to be either.

Newbies have plenty of incentive to play PvE as it can scale down to their level, even when they do inevitably change it to align enemies to CL.

PvP success is about knowing where your roster sits in relation to the other players out there, and playing accordingly. Co-ordinating hops will help, but if you over-stretch yourself you can and will get hit.

The highest rewards are generally only available to top-level players...what exactly is so wrong with that? Players can build to get there, and it's considerably easier to do so now than it used to be so I'm baffled by all the whining.

Love the new System for all the reasons well explained so far......but maybe 30 wins instead of 40 will satisfy the higher rosters owners too.... Just my Opinion  :):)

Win count system is fine for rewards up to 3*, but CP rewards should be kept as score-driven imo. Definitely not as a placement reward.

Honestly, Im unimpressed with the idea I was being discussed offline and my game was going to be tampered with.

And I think that would not sit well with a number of posters who already dislike offline communication.

Ive never objected to it, in the sense that its a support/community thing.  However, if it is being used for messing with players/colluding for or against them, then I cant say I am comfortable with that.

@OJSP messaged me, offered me some good advice.
@Vhailorx messaged me and essentially coached me through the Captain America event.

These two guys have been amazing and deserve huge thanks.

Black Vortex was just horrible all round and I didnt start getting advice until midway through the event.

Captain America went really well, I was actually in with a shout of progression and ended #26.

Based on the advice given I only went for matches with a high value.  OJSP told me anything above 38, Vhailorx suggested nearer the 50 mark, and I have to say it made an incredible difference.

I also have to say, I had no idea matches were out there for that value.  I genuinely thought most were in the 20-30 range.  Which explains why it took me so many matches and health packs to climb.

I also didnt realise there was no correlation between the reward rating and the match difficulty.

    How did it go?

Climbed to 500 before health packs ran out.  Let it float there.
Got hit back to about 430 and later on climbed to 700, shielded.
Made a run to 900 but fell just short, took a few hits and ended up at 830.  Shielded.
Later went again for 1200, nearly made it then got hit for -150 so shielded as there were no matches.
Had 1023 points.  Lined up 2 x 75 nodes and 1 x 55*, should be enough to see me to 1200.
Un shielded, cleared the rounds as quickly as I could, and got hit for 200+ in the meantime.  Now on 903 (I think).

With 3 hours left in the event I just shielded out the remainder to try and preserve placement.  I wouldnt normally be be worried about placement, but as I was at 26 I figured it was worth 75HP to try and guarantee top 50.  Strangely I just stayed at #26, seems no one else was playing at that point!

*Spent a few thousand skipping to find them.  Literally hundreds of queue/skip/queue/skip...  All at 4/6/10/15/2/5/3/... Then out of the blue up comes a 75.  Same again on the other two nodes, probably spent 20 minutes just skipping.

    Observations?

With the knowledge Ive been given 575 is far more easily achievable, to the point where I think I could hit 900 regularly with a little finese.

There was, as I thought, basic knowledge out there that just wasnt available to me.  I did look, but never found it.  It took some great posters taking time out to help me before I could find it.

I saw tutorials on shield hoping and floating and climbing etc - but they all lacked the very fundamentals of essentially picking your fights.  That retaliation points are somewhat convoluted.  That there is a real element of timing to it (and to be honest I still dont get all of this but I now know what Im looking for information on, something I didnt have before)

Just as nobody put it out there (that I have seen) that you can skip/queue fights while shielded - great advice - and that it can take a long time to find the ones worth hitting.

I have now learned that if I did want to go for 1200 I am better off chasing it 24-12 hours before the end of the event.  I went in with 3 hours left (was shielded from around 15 hours but just had nothing in the queue) and while trying to finish those 3 got hit for more than I won and ended up further back than I started.

It was frustrating, but honestly it wasnt that heartbreaking as I had already far surpassed anything I had ever done in PVP.

So, honestly, I enjoyed it.  Because it felt like I was getting somewhere, and it felt like I actually had half an idea of what to do.

I think that it took some 1 on 1 effort from generous posters to get me there does support my belief that it just isnt that accessible, so I am hoping that someone can take something from this post that helps them as I have been helped.
And imagine the ISO you would have saved in finding those 75 point grills you could beat if you joined the community. So there's an open invitation for you if you want to see the next step and how it would impact your play. Try it once. If you don't like it, walk away.

    Also,
I only added the last part because you posted you were going for 900 in the last thread, and we wanted to help you out a bit. But eventually we decided to let you play the game as normal, but watched and rooted for you. If you think that is scummy, then, I don't know what to say.

@sh81 if people would want to stop you, they could. This happens in the game ALOT!!!!  So much more than you realize. Also, please stop with the "outside commuaction". Again, with no Line there would be no buy clubs, no recruiting, no communtiy and this game would die. The forums, as much as people want to say this is the place for MPQ, it truly isn't.  Only release info about the game, bugs, etc. Then everything is discussed with "outside commutation" including Demi that is on Discord and almost No foot print here.

@sh81 also, I would like to point you towards this 2 year old thread.   This was before I was in check room and @gmp72 was as well.  Funny we just talked about this a few weeks ago. If it could be done then, it can be done now.

I don't really agree. I've been using LINE for few months now and from what I can see, majority of players don't know it exists. The community on LINE is very vivid, active and helpfull. Come on! If LINE was killed buy clubs would use something else, but average player would have no idea that something happened.
You got to realize that most people treat MPQ as match-3 mobile game with Marvel characters. Not an important part of their life, just a casual game.

They can't.... They would be locked into SCL1, then 2, then 3....

@broll the high end game is played on Line. That's the point. The high end game drives players buying. If you don't think this game would be drastically different then what it is now, I don't know what to say.  Been on Line for 2 years and it changed this game massively for me and a ton of others.
