It's at 5k points. If you average 600 in each tourney and get a modest score in the shield training should be cake.

(25 day long season / tourney every 3 days = 8. 5k/8 = 625. Account for maybe 600 at least in shield training)

I think it works out to 11 tournaments.

    3 tournaments a week.
    25.5 days = 3 weeks + 4.5 days.

    3 weeks * 3 tournaments/week = 9 tournaments
    4.5 days (there's a half-day that is overlapped) = 2 tournaments

So, a little less than 500 per tournament plus shield training.
  • Ya thanks for something more exact, just happy I wasn't excited by nothing.

That also means for the psychos who push to 1100 can get the max progression award of 50hp as well.

Speaking of 1100 I need that green GSBW somehow hmm...Seems harder to get than the torch one.
  • That's pretty doable with regular play. I was thinking about pushing for 1100 this event but I guess top five finishes will more than suffice.

Still, on the way up that's a lot of 100 iso prizes...

I, for one, cannot wait for the drama of the next running of Lone Star and Bad Is Good.

They'll probably be 2 of the last 3 of the season.

    So, S.H.I.E.L.D. simulator training.

We all enter, tank our MMR for 23 days to stay at 0 points.
Then with 3 days out, we turn this into an Elite tourney and shield-hop our way (in this unbracketed event) to get however many points we need to make No 1 in our (bracketed) season one totals.
While feasting on new players who used those previous 23 days to claw their way up to higher points, telling ourselves that it's OK because they are laughing at us while looking at their level 30 enemies in the next 5 PVEs while we stare at level 400 DAs.

Did I get that about right?

I don't know what I'd make of this game right now if I were a new player and just thought I could simply _play_ this whenever I wanted, however much I wanted.
When did this turn from "play" into "metagame the tinykitty out of this to be able to play well"?

I mean yes, it's interesting to metagame, but I think we lost the point a little bit in the last few months of the devs doing their best to drive off their experienced/high-level player base.

I mean, you missed the whole "no shields in the s.h.i.e.l.d tournement" part..but its not completely off. Or are they allowed now?

I was about to reply the same, since yesterday there were no shields on the SHIELD simulator... But I just checked and sadly the shields are there. Unless they change it again it's going to be a shieldfest as Bowgentle said.

Now, this means that the Spidey and GSBW covers are attainable, but that's just a silver lining.

If you look at the Leaderboard (which you can, since it's unbracketed) you already see shielded people.

And they seem seriously misguided... I mean.. why? O.o

    To avoid retaliations, duh.

Seriously though, already shielded? with 25 days to go?

I just get +24 pts from a defensive win in shield simulator!

As many here, I initially thought that there was no shield and wondered how the points will vary in the last days...
...now that the shields are confirmed, I feared these last days much more icon_e_surprised.gif

Anyways, I don't plan to tank for 23 days. I will play from time to time, knowing that playing this shield versus earn points for the season. I don't wan't to optimize everything, sometimes I just want to play icon_e_wink.gif
  • Holy cow. FOUR Heroic 10-Packs for individual 1st!

Am I the only one who reads this reward differently.

    I don't for a second believe that you'll win a 10-pack, let alone 4.

I think it's a single heroic token with the increased chance of a 3* that you get from the 10-packs compared to single heroic tokens.

  • I wonder if this means that in Nick's release tourney we'll be minus the purple cover in the reward structure. Or if we'll have a chance to double up on that skill. I'd love to come out of that tourney with a 1/1/2 4* character (yeah... well, I wouldn't do that, but I'm sure someone would be able to).

I'm guessing he'll just be worked into the regular rotation as a top PVP prize. They've generally been pretty stingy with 4*s.

I'm sure the 10-pack means a 10-pack alright. But for those who will win the 4x (say I have a fair chance) it's MEH. I'd expect like 1 useful cover from 40 heroics and would not be surprised to get 0. So it's like 12k ISO with many clicks.

Certainly it looks like pure add-on to what we have now, why not just accept it with minimum effort while doing what we did this far and nothing more? Fair view. But it will impact the playfield by putting the top10 scores higher than they would be naturally. Not sure by how much as we already had that effect from alliances, many tanking tournaments skyrocketed.

I'm not sure how good or bad it is overall -- in recent PUN tournament I went for #11 and got exactly that too, allowing to drop from 900 so others can get the green cover not useful for me. I'm not sure if I would have done the same if it counted into season. I expect top10 occupied by people not needing the prizes at all preventing the runner-ups to develop their ***s.. That is not a welcome effect.

exactly... the best one can get is 0-1/0-1/1-2 on Nick... and I also strongly believe that whenever he pops up, people are going to be killing themselves over him since he looks damn good IMO
  • a heroic is worth 2,355 iso. that's rouchly the converted cost of using ~6.3 iso tokens to get the same drop chance (and selling back all 1/2 stars). so, while not an insignificant value at all, it's something you can farm anywhere, any day if you so desire. don't get me wrong, i'd love to have 40 extra heroic tokens, but i'm not going to waste a ton of hp on shields striving to get something that has a readily available iso-equivalent.

I figure i'll be able to get top 250 or so safely, and i'd be fine with that.

I wish there was a way to poll who misread the ending time.

"Wait! What? 25 days? I though it said 25 hours! I ground to 1200 and blew 300 hp for that???"
  • Anybody recognize anyone from there season brackets right now? Im sitting next to dj theophulus right now at 60th. I've seen slobofix (everyone's favorite non cheater icon_e_wink.gif ) and right now I have some guy named jimbojim24 who has ten pages in his roster including several duplicate two stars maxed. Suspicious? Probably but I'm to lazy to report him. (Been hanging with my 3* cap and thor to long icon_e_wink.gif ) I got a guy from X-men immortal rage and x-poles. Needless to say this will be the most interesting ending of an event. I'll shoot for top 10 cause that's just the kinda guy I am but will I get it? Maybe maybe not. Good luck to all in the first season of shield. icon_e_biggrin.gif
