I think a 3/5/5 sentry at 158 would still be scarier to people than a 158 5/5/3 XF just because of how quickly a WR+sac could wipe your team or god forbid even a supernova were to hit. XF can be really dangerous and brutally murder a character out of nowhere but sentry could potentially do the same to your whole team if you aren't careful.
I think it also depends how confident the attacker is.0 -

Bingo. I learned the hard way to quickly check rosters to see how covered the XF is before I hit it. Even a 0/5/0 can be devastating if the other character is the right character to ruin you.0 -
I need a 'high level" question answered. I'm for the most part at the 'end' of the 2-3* transition...Punisher & Patch at 166, X-Force at 165 (not max covers though), Hulk at 153, Sentry at 148, Doom at 124, Thor and Mags at 114, Falcon at 110, etc.
I do OK, though my X-Force isn't 'awesome' due to covers. What I'm nervous about however is PvE...I already get irritated when I have to fight level 200 goons, but I hear that with level 270 guys, you'll fight upwards of lvl 400.
Now due to tanking, I've read that you don't want to level X-Forcepast like 221 or 230 something in that range - fine, but will dumping ISO into him, essentially 'ruin' PvE for me?
- Unreall0 -
I don't think there is much reason besides more HP + damage or to just scare people in PvP to level up XF even to 221, just having him at 5/5/3 is what's important. I wouldn't do 221 (if you really wanted to) until you have a more complete 3* roster first cause it will make PvE harder for you when do you bump him up.0
-
It's impossible to narrow down an exact number on scaling but based on the data I've collected a level 270 X Force is responsible for a +20-80 level increase in enemy levels in PvE. Let's just say all the enemies are 3*, then +20 on all enemies requires X Force to fight as if he's a level 226 3* to make up for it. X Force is powerful, but he's definitely not stronger than a level 226 Sentry. There are probably at least 10 guys who are stronger than X Force at level 226 in raw numbers. Now, X Force brings a very unique skill, Surgical Strike, that is simply not covered by anyone else, so he does more than just his stats would indicate, but there's a point where the extra levels on the enemy will outweight it. Besides, the deficit only gets bigger as the enemies scale harder. So even if it was fair for a +20 level bump on all enemies, it is certainly no longer fair when the bump gets to +80 level since your X Force sure didn't somehow become stronger just because all your enemies are 60 levels higher than before.
Since Surgical Strike at level 5 is such a huge difference maker I don't see the point to raise his level to begin with until you can hit that for PvE. PvP maybe you can intimidate someone who didn't bother checking the covers, but the AI in PvE sure won't be fooled. I don't believe in purposely not leveling characters up, but you definitely shouldn't take any possible additional scaling factor until you have at least 5 in Surgical Strike (and really should have 5 in X Force as well) because otherwise there's no way his abilities can make up for the extra levels on your enemies.
I'm curious as to whether having a lower level X Force that's max covered would lead to a better win rate. It seems like if you have a level 180-200 X Force maybe people might think they can get away without using boosts and that'd greatly tilt the battle in your favor, and it's not like having level 270 matters if your enemy is boosted (you still die to a Sentry bomb) so you don't really care if they do boost. I've been burned quite a few times on low level X Force that are max covered since a Surgical Strike on green is still pretty much game over if the opposing X Force is maxed covered even at a lower level.0 -
Is it worth buying skills for four star heroes? I've got a 3/3/5 X-Force, but that 2500 tag is pretty hefty...0

Depends on what you use your HP for. Do you have any other 3* you plan on building and using? Statistically there's a 1 in 9 chance (and 1 in 12 when Thor gets added to the 4* list) that the 1300 prize is going to be a black X Force, so even if you can always get 1300 every event you could be waiting a pretty long time before that cover shows up, but if you got time and can hit 1300 with reasonably confidence you might as well. Keep in mind that any Sentry nerf will likely make 1300 much harder to reach for everyone (everyone benefits from the high scores of the Sentry bombers) so you may not have as much time as you think. Note that you really have to plan to use someone, because everyone can be spending resources to build Beast but it's pretty unlikely anyone will play him beyond whatever essential node/limited roster requirement. Unless you're a collector, you have to ask yourself what good is 3 3* covers that cost some HP to obtain if you don't plan on ever using the character? Of course, if you plan to just Sentry bomb until he gets nerfed, you also don't need X Force either.0 -

Actually, someone figured out the rotation schedule for the 4* rewards.

Turns out it's on a strict rotation. So if you can hit 1300, you can get the exact 4* cover you want every 3 weeks. Likewise for placing 1st.0 -
Vertigozooropa wrote:There are two really good strategies for dealing with XForce Wolvie: the first is don't attack him. The second is buy a shield. That's what we all do. Yes, it's frustrating that there are players out there sniping your chances to get more of his covers, but since you're a whale yourself ("I've spent hundreds on this game," is what you once said), why not just buy him? You'll have at least one of each colour, and more if you've been buying cover packs. $100 will get you eight covers. I suggest maxing Surgical Strike first, then X-Force. Those are real powerhouses, as I'm sure you've seen. Once you have him maxed, you won't be a team of 166's getting hit by a 200+. You'll be a team of two 166's and a 200+, getting hit by the same, only now it'll be even teams.
PS "Mongoloid," is a racist term. First, it originated as a term for Asian people (whites being caucasoid and blacks being negroid), and it took on the added meaning of Down's Sydrome patients having the "mongoloid idiocy," referring to the epicanthic folds on their eyes. It's simultaneously offensive to Asians and the handicapped, though you only meant to offend the handicapped.
PPS We all know why X-Force was beefed up. He was useless. Now he isn't.
HE went from useless to overpowered, which it typical of d3 and their talent pool. He's a 4 star character and was on the fringe whereas the 166ers are more core to most people's lineup.
As for not attacking him, on what rational level would one expect me to attack him? I don't. If d3 had a reasonable cast of talented employees who could put matchmaking software together I should not draw him with vastly inferior players. As I would not expect to draw nothing but 94 level characters. That's a pretty low IQ point.
As for "buy a shield" the answer to bad programming should not to be to spend more money and reward them.
p.s. I see the newest cheapest trio of people. An overpowered wolverin xforce, plus a 166 daken, plus a 94 black widow. daken takes the damage for pink and blue, and black widow gains ap to steal yours and xwolverine does the rest.. A perfect microcosm of how d3 despite having a cool game can't iron out the fine details because they don't care or they spend their creative capital thinking up new characters.
p.p.s. mongoloid was once the description of a race, not a racist term, and anyone who can't parse that mentally is probably along the lines of people who are pre-occupied with the war on women or global warming and aren't to be engaged in such discussions lest we waste our time.
So downvote to your heart's conten but using bad programming as a revenue stream is embarrassing.0 -

Even most anthropologists consider the term derogatory. You come across as an angry Tea Party supporter in your assessment of those who disagree with you on the word's meaning.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MongoloidIt was introduced by early ethnology primarily to describe various central and East Asian populations, one of the proposed three major races of humanity. Although some forensic anthropologists and other scientists continue to use the term in some contexts (such as criminal justice), the term mongoloid is now considered derogatory by most anthropologists due to its association with disputed typological models of racial classification.[3][4][5][6]0 -
tuscan panty raider wrote:P.s. colossus is a mongoloid so is female thor so is dunce cap miss marvel so is 3/4 of the talent at d3.
I can parse together that you are definitely not using the word in it's original context as a description of race.
Seriously, how do you not have more negative to your rep?0 -
kitkiller8732 wrote:What is right in the first post, is that Wolvie 4* was once useless, and is now really overpowered.0

Why are you gripping about this now? It's not like the buff just happened. This is the growing trend, though you may be seeing a bit more of a bump in X-Force use due to his recent ranking on the boards here.
Honestly X-Force doesn't scare me. Does he need to be respected? Oh, yeah. But he's not as broken as Sentry. Make a few wrong moves, and Sentry can crush any team in only a few moves. X-Force normally can't down more than 1 (perhaps 2 if your strongest color is Green), but it's not your whole team.0 -
Seriously dude you just need to lose more. If you're always fighting tough guys, it's because you're too good. The next time there's a PvP with a reward you don't need, just get as many points as you can and then let yourself get beat down (especially if you can with with a Daredevil GSW team or something). I hit the 166/200+ wall and then went from 800 to 400 in one PvP. Now the Xforces I see are level 110, and I'm still fighting OBW 2* Daken teams.0

Hi everyone,
I have x-force 5/3/5...he is level 166.
i have already several 166...patch 5/4/4, punisher 5/5/3, LazyThor 5/5/3... (good with the green xforce), Lazy cap 3/5/5 and some between level 115 and 1153 (daken, hulk,IM40, spidey, Falcon, mbw...)
My question is...I have 156 000 isos and i wonder if worth it to invest X-force....
will it improve his green ? Won't it rise my MMR too much?
I'd like to have him 5/5/3 but it s quite long
Thank you0 -
Because, after all, 10k health wasn't enough.
Because, after all, 4k damage and cascades for 8AP wasn't enough.
Because, after all, having a skill that single-handedly catapults black into the "amazing color" category wasn't enough.
Because, after all, it wasn't fair that boosted characters were almost as good.
I look forward to spending the whole event fighting level 400 Xforces.
Oh wait, no I don't. At all.0 -
but but....he's so fun at level 4050

Darek wrote:I asked in the tips forum how i could improve my pvp and how i can level X-Force up.
I try this forum for this character.
I have some full 166 and x-force too with 4/3/5 level 166. I have some difficulties to have more than 750 pointd in PvP (i m european so events often ends at 6 am)
Also black >>>> green.0
