how loud do we need to complain about drop rates

For people who don't spend a lot (or any) money on this game, it's exceptionally frustrating trying to earn gems to buy new PWs or cards.
In the past couple weeks, I've opened numerous packs where I am getting doubles in the same pack. I found the drop rates of new cards already abysmal before, but now getting duplicates in the same pack has made me feel like spending any money on this game isn't worth it.
There needs to be a better check against cards already in inventory, especially for Rare/Mythic. People shouldn't be seeing duplicates of those considering the difficulty to acquire them until they have the entire set of that rarity in the given set they're opening. Alternatively, increasing the chance of a rare with each pack opened would allow newer players a better shot at rares overall and older players a better chance at getting a new one if they are missing any. If D3 wants to leave the Basic boosters alone in that regard, I can respect that, but when crystals are being spent, there should be no duplicates until your collection is filled out, at least for Rare/Mythic. Uncommon would be nice to include in that as well, but I can understand the reluctance on that.0 -
Maybe do something similar to hearthstone where dupes generate some item that can be used to craft cards. It would make opening a big box for all dupes slightly less painful.0

Sooooo 2 Kaladesh boxes, 1 Fat Pack
Box 1 - 1 mythic, 1 rare.
Box 2 - 4 rare (2 duplciate in the same box **** !)
Fat Pack - 0 Rares
Rare in each pack even it's a duplicate would inspire me to pay some real money to improve my deck.
Or have the ability to buy rares maybe.
80 Rare, 150 a Mythic. People would pay it to get what they want.
it would only benefit the game !0 -
As I view it, any game is going to give you duplicates (just check the regular card game), the problem is that we can't USE the duplicates. I would say the duplicate problem can be solved just by allowing us to trade dupes out for crystals (perhaps duplicate commons can only trade for runes, uncommons become 1 crystal, rares become 10, mythics become 100?). This allows the hard-to-find duplicates actually trade to help buy more packs, making it feel like duplicates are still useful.
The main problem though, the drop rate, is what needs to be fixed before I ever spend more money on this game. IRL, booster packs are 15 cards, 1 being rare or mythic (sometimes 2). I think this game can solve that by doing the same statistic: keep the packs having a very low drop rate, but every third pack you open you get a bonus rare. Meaning in three packs (15 cards), you will definitely get 1 rare, sometimes 2 if you're lucky.0 -

I don't want to always be that guy, but in these threads it seems like no one else like to point out that getting duplicate and triplicate cards are an expected result of random draws.
For paper mtg players, this can't even be a new experience.
Paper players can trade cards. Let me trade my dupes in my coalition!!!0 -
oooo ! removed for language, but your support / game team won't improve the only aspect people are screaming out for !0

Sigh, after four months you would think people bother to start collecting statistics on all their drops instead of reporting only the boxes that they got **** on.
At least with a concerted effort to collate data on drop rates, you guys would have a stronger case to put up to D3 (whether they care or not is another issue).
Anyone here cares to record all their opened packs (excluding the 8-hour boosters)? If you've done so, and labelled your drops by card set *and* labelled them by game version (at least knowing what the latest set was when you opened the pack) then message me the data and I can add it to my own to do an analysis.
If there's enough data then we could actually have a decent idea of the actual drop rate independent of the luck of individuals.0 -

I won't purposely spend a single penny on gems to get boxes ever again.
I couldn't care about stats and I don't give a monkies about data collection.
Everyone who has played the game for a while and has opened several boxes and fat packs knows the rate is AWFUL.
Some rares are more common than others and D3Go cannot say otherwise. We know.
I've seen certain rares 5-6-7 times and others never !
The think D3GO and too scared to address the issue and are too scared to fix it and make the game more enjoyable.
The reason is that they thrive on the people with deep pockets who will spend $100's and $1000's on the game to get gems and open boxes to get cards.
They aren't remotely interested in the casual player who dabbles with gem purchases and earns them through playing are never rewarded.
Look at the quick battle events - the winner is always a cheat, you can't tell me someone plays 550-600 battles. Their points are usually nearly double 2nd place.
Sorry, but the Quick battle should be 1-5 top prize, 6-25 fat pack, 26-75 then 76-150 and then as normal.
I like this game, but man D3GO you are awful as a support team at addressing and fixing anything.
I hate to say it but your nearly as bad as Supercell and Clash Royale !0 -
I feel drops are like buses, you get nothing for an hour
and then 2+ turns up. I've got my 2 month stats. is
there a reason why free boosters should be excluded.
(I didn't rank high enough for an event guaranteed rare...
I opened my booster to find a new rare and other cards.
what a weird roll of the dice)

Plus analysing the 8-hour boosters doesn't help you make decisions in any way. Your decision is to just open the booster whenever it refreshes. On the other hand when there is a cost involved, then there is a decision as to whether it is worth it to pay that cost (again stuff like crystals, spending time on events or money). And to have a better idea of whether it's worth it or not, you should try to shed light on what the expected results are since we more or less know the cost.huntly wrote:I get your piont. It would be great to have the stats but I believe the people here are disheartened enough that they avoid BBs to the point that data collecting would take far to long to get enough data to be useful b4 they quit entirely. Maybe if you could get one of the whales to collect their stats it might provide hope that our experience could be short lived and keep us playing and possibly start buying.
Also this thread has been around for 4 months, think of the data that could have been collected throughout that period.
Data collection works like this, the more people who contribute the faster you reach a decent sample size. Some may be bigger contributors than others, but unless people are willing to do their own dirty work nothing is going to happen.

And to those of you who are just here to whine and complain, fine. I'm not reaching out to you. I'm reaching out to those who actually want to try and do something about the current situation and are willing to actually put in some effort to investigate the issue. Without data, even if you know you're right you can't prove it to others. And that's what counts.0 -
Past drop rates from my own drops only
Drops are aggregated across 5-card boosters, Fat Packs and Big Boxes cause my data sets are puny otherwise.
1.6 - 1.7 (SOI latest set)

M: 001 (0.2%)
Total mythics from Big Boxes across sets: 2 from 8
* All statistics exclude guaranteed cards of any rarity
My interpretation is that the sample size is too small and the percentage differences could be from a bad run of Big Boxes.
Or some people might claim that this is PROOF that drop rates have been reduced. *shrug*0 -
my 2 month card count are as follows
mythic 3 found +3 mythic packs no dupes
rares 22 card variations 5 dupes (4 event prizes)
uncommon 155 card variations 53 dupes (15 holiday guarantees)
common 259 card variations 375 dupes
this list includes the given cards from the original 5 planeswalkers
plus arlinn, sarkhan and sorin. list also includes free booster cards.

3-5% for a rares...... great.
So much screenshots above. 1 guarenteed and one normal rare from booster.
1 rare from 80 cards....1.25%0 -
Just opened a Kaladesh box with 600 gems I EARNED.
1 Rare + 1 Guaranteed !0 -
Just bought 2 Kaladesh Big Boxes (each is 14 packs plus bonus rare)
Box 1: 0 Mythic, 5 Rare, 23 Uncommon, 43 Common
Box 2: 0 Mythic, 2 Rare, 28 Uncommon, 41 Common0 -
There are a few of us recording all packs drawn since KLD was released:
Total Cards Drawn 1382
% Mythic 0.58%
% Rare 4.12%
% Uncommon 33.57%
% Common 61.72%
The drop rate is clearly too low as it stands, it isn't worth spending any money on packs at this point. I am saving all gold up from until they do something about it.
I bought Chandra and out of the two BBs I got a total of 5 rares, every BB I have opened since KLD has been released has been a disappointment.
It is even more frustrating when they expect us to create decks using the new energise mechanic when it is nigh on impossible to create a good deck that utilises it without having many of the new cards.0 -
If it's worth anything to anyone I started playing this game in November. I held on buying all the base planeswalkers when they were only 10 crystals. Then they jumped up to 50 a peice! After that I saw the buy a mythic for 300, that's decent but I couldn't get it. Just recently it was re released for 350! It feels like greed has kicked in for the group that has developed this game.
I would of spent money on this game if my 4 600 packs would of produced AT LEAST 1 mythic and a hand full of rares.
Box 1: 1 rare
Box 2: 2 rares ( dups )
Box 3: 2 rares
Box 4: 2 rares ( 1 dup)
I've had better luck from the free packs were I pulled engulf the shores. And sylvan advocate.
I have 3 mythics to my account 1 I bought with 350 crystals, 1 I got out of a free pack and 1 I got as a joke card.
This is bad and horrid, I will still play this game despite the horrid odds and bad direction this game is going but in all honesty I'm not sure how long I will play with the pure disappointment of opening paid packs and witness as my free packs out performed them so far.0 -
Think i just opened the best worse box ever lol.
Origins Big Box
1 mythic
8 rare
3 of which were the same rare....
ALL duplicate
And theres quite a few i still dont have...0
