When we were starting, we didn't have to put pressure on our members and scores were naturally high; the alliance competition wasn't as crazy, the tanking was easy. Now, the game has shifted significantly; those same members that keep scoring low points report having difficulties (MMR hell, 212-141-141 opposition, tanking not working, rewards not being enticing, just no-shows with no warning at all, etc.). I would hate to use threats and would rather use motivation.
I completely get your thoughts...We were struggled at the end of Season 2...One of us (which is not with us anymore) barely played and another was totally inactive.

Also...when someone don't want to talk and explain his/her problem or whatever, we can't read in his/her mind...
Communication is the key, for sure.

Good luck locked with your alliance !

Well, I realized that a top 100 alliance leader needs to be more stern.
    Heads up:
    - kicked edguh for lack of communication (alas he's not even on the forums and practically never chatted with us after joining);
    - Rhedd left and we wish him the best of luck and patience in his writer's journey;
    - recruited magiczeppelin and SirPhobos both of which are very active (just what we need!) and communicate well.

Things are already looking up, we are still going to miss top 100 in Iso-8 Brotherhood but I hope no one is seriously miffed about that.
We might add more new recruits later regardless; I seriously ask everyone underperforming to stop and think whether they are unwilling to give more effort for the alliance's sake. Please leave if you believe so and know that we enjoy playing with you, but with the alliances growing in numbers, it now takes some combined effort to get the prizes. You are not out for yourselves; the team needs one just as much as one needs the team.
The reason I ask to score better or leave is the following: we are not highly competitve, but we need alliance covers for all members to progress, be it a new or an old character. Since everyone has some life going on besides playing MPQ (I believe you are not androids), and there might be events preventing one from playing for days or even weeks (e.g. vacation), everyone needs to contribute when able so that alliance as a whole has some safety cushion regardless of one-two low scores.

That is all. I will ask underperforming Commanders to make their choice and I hope for their good will as I did back then when we only just started and I promoted everyone not in Commander rank.

Update: I believe that most of us that score each event and show consistent activity agree that a score plank needs to be set. I borrowed the idea from 5DeadlyBanes and it's as follows:
    - anyone is allowed to score some low points (not 0-200 though, please, at least 300-400) if they make up for that in the next event;
    - the lower plank is 1800 points per 3 tournaments (or 600 per event). You can do 300 in one but better do 900 next time, etc.
    - if you skip an event entirely due to real life, score 900 + 900 in the two following ones. (Longer RL events are an exception, of course.)
I will start documenting our individual scores in events now (will create a google doc or some such).

As for PvE, some events are good for taking it easy like the current one as no one actually needs a red IM 40; but for most decent characters (and newer ones), effort is expected from everyone, convenient end times or not. If you have noticed, recent events have been less friendly to late joiners and rubberbanders (Thick as Thieves got borked up thanks to early opening of main nodes, but still, there was not enough activity despite it being so easy to get 100k+ points in the last days). Since it's seemingly very hard for some events to not get tinykittyed up, some leeway might be allowed, no one wants you to kill yourself over a match-3 game, but just doing essential or highest point nodes 1-2 times per sub? I believe it's not much to ask. The only kinds of events that allow some significant rubberbanding are the ones with quite a few main nodes (The Hulk, Thick as Thieves, recent Oscorp: Heroic); most others require consistent effort in subs (The Hunt, Prodigal Sun, Heroic events, Iso-8 Brotherhood, The Simulator) and getting a lead or keeping up.
  • Excellent suggestions Locked; sounds perfectly acceptable to me.

Just wanted to say goodbye on the forums for those who will have missed it in-game since the chat moves so quickly. It’s been great playing alongside you all; I wish I didn't have to leave, but real life has taken a suddenly turn - hopefully for the better.

Still hoping I will get some more free time down the road, but I won’t think about rejoining the game unless a space is currently open in [Just] - being with the alliance has been a good 90% of the game’s fun for me.

Anyone looking for a competitive alliance (top 100) that doesn't take itself too serious, you’d be hard pressed to find a better group of people. Just be sure that you want to be a part of a community, with all the bonuses and responsibilities it entails. That means trying for the sake of the group even when it doesn't necessarily suit you, and it means being willing to communicate, whether its giving advice, discussing your progress, or simply chatting.

Lastly, thanks Locked for keeping the alliance running so smoothly; for taking a chance on a relative newbie icon_e_biggrin.gif ; and for helping that newbie find his way in the game.

    Later peeps.
  • Hi everyone!

My name is Brandon, from just south of Cincinnati OH in the US. Locked just helped me join and I'm excited to be involved in [Just]. I've looked over your recent posts and they sound right up my alley. I'm active every day but I appreciate the understanding that stuff just happens sometimes.

I'm hopeful to have my first #1 finish in webcrawler soon and look forward to all of us raking in the the covers/ISO as a team. Thanks very much for having me, and if you get the sense I'm not pulling my weight tell me right away. Teamwork is important.

    Welcome again, Ironman!

I must say that everyone's work on the latest tourney was admirable; the 600/1800 policy is effectively in place and kicking in. Hopefully it helps us stay strong and not lead to burnout, as everyone can relax once in a while.
This will be used to track our progress and achievements: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... .com#gid=0
Edit: don't need SHIELD sim scores anymore; they are pretty unnecessary anyway. Unholy Outlaw and Category-5 are history and we start anew with fresh members starting with Webslinger.

    Spreadsheets, tracking progress... Wow! icon_e_biggrin.gif

If staying top 100 requires a little bit more hardcoreness, I am willing to go Drill Sargeant mode.
Actually no, I'm too much of a slacker myself, but thanks!

  • Hi all - thanks for having me. I'll try to carry my weight, promise. Just added Yelena on FB (I'm Aaron, I used my real account - feel free to stalk me).

My PvP-fu is always improving as the roster grows, and I grind PvE quite a bit. Part of the reason for that is that I hate using health packs, so if I get out of a tough PvP with survivors that are under 50% health or so and I don't want to PvP them again in their current state but also don't wanna wait five hours, I take them along with OBW into a easy/trivial (or goon filled) PvE and use that as a healing arena.

Of course, that won't work for the Juggernaut PvE. Bastards. icon_e_wink.gif

I usually do the prologue for healing, plus getting the random rewards that take forever for it to finally give you

Yup, Sir, at this stage you might not have to worry about PvE scaling, but later on you will probably see that healing in Story events can be bad for personal scaling. Habits die hard, though, and PvE scaling is always changing; we'll see what happens. For now all of us are forced to only heal in Prologue icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • Making sure my signature is working, also.... temp healing? Why don't I like the sound of this....

The healing thread is ablaze with similar thoughts - I thought they might make it so that PvE health pool / PvP health pool were different, but I didn't expect this outcome.
In a way it might have just made post-nerf Spidey one of the best characters in the game, as the best way to not need to heal is to not get damaged - and dropping a 80+ protect tile for a mere single purple match might change the game a bit. Unless protect tiles get counted as "temp healing" too, then I guess all bets are off.

No, pretty sure protect tiles are not counted as healing. I do not think this buffs Spidey, IW, Cap and other defensive specialists in any way, maybe only for PvE. They are right; it only promotes two single characters, Patch and lazy Daken. Maaaaaaaaaaaybe Daken** too but he is still weak.
It looks like the devs literally have no idea how PvP is played and only have some vague idea for PvE.
  • Oh, they know how the game is played. This is a game economy move for sure. They'll be selling more health packs now and I think that's the goal.

I'm pretty sure protection is entirely seperate from temp heals. So I'm leveling LCap due to his stun/protect all in one move. Seems like he will be really good since you have to sustain on protection alone
  • Welcome to all the new guys in our Alliance!
Im sure you will make us proud!!! [JUST] as long as you guys/girls do your best and communicate with us! icon_e_biggrin.gif

May the golden covered tokens be with u!

Okay, we missed top 100 third time in a row for a Story event, second time in a row for a new character. Neither Mororo nor She-Hulk will be stars of your team most likely, but still. This calls for conducting a poll on PvE. Some of us can never warm up to PvE in its current state (too much grinding for smaller prizes than in PvP, timezones, etc.), some just keep silence and never weigh in. Well now is the time! I ask you to vote and/or comment.
I chose 'Yes (always)' because it's my duty to look out for newer guys, too, who need practically any 3* cover and who specifically joined us for being a top 100 team.
At the same time I would kick myself for causing any of you to burn out even faster. Most of us contribute for every PvE event, though, so missing alliance covers is just added insult to the injury. We should either establish strict policies for PvE, too, or forget about alliance covers from PvE to save ourselves some grief in advance.
    Let's share opinions.

Edit: I remind those of you that cannot/would not play PvE as much as is sometimes required for the alliance cover, that there are multiple PvP-centric alliances, like 5DeadlyBanes. One that has an opening right now that I know of is ISIS. Another is Wrecking Crew. They will still require some scores for PvP, of course, but nothing outrageous; and I would hope that most of us have vastly improved their rosters during their stay in [Just] (except new recruits obviously, lol) and acquired more than enough HP and ISO so that they can afford to stay competitive in PvP.

PVE for EU players under the current system is impossible if it ends at 5.00 am EU time, Getting up at 4.00 am for a match 3 game is rather silly. I have had some good PVE scores in tournaments that end at friendly EU times, but under the new system its not possible if the tournament end 5.00 am uk time.

I think the concentration on PVP with the 600/1800 rule is fine, but I cannot subscribe to an alliance that requires a 4.00 am start, for PVE rewards.

If you want to push for PVE then I am happy to leave (although I can think of at least 2 other members who need to look at themselves before I do), because the current soring screws EU players completely.

I would rather stay, I enjoy you guys a lot, its fun on chat, and I feel I contribute (bit tricky with the recent MMR, but everyone goes through that from time to time) my PVP got better again. icon_e_biggrin.gif

I did not pay for my slot and I am not here to spoil anyone's fun, As a commander the next time I am on I will leave, and Locked can invite me back (if your not going full PVE) so that way everyone is happy.

My preference is to stay, push hard in PVP, and try for PVE as we can (subject to life etc, as some tournament are a 9 day commitment)
