  • Uh-oh!!! Patch R52 is coming and it's NERF TIME!!! HAHAHAHAHA

    Love it!

So, who's getting the nerf bat? No, it's not Spidey. But, they are going to piss off alot of people...

    - Black Widow (Original) is known for her nefarious tactics in combat. One of her most diabolical tricks has been nullified; When on an enemy team, she will no longer fire Espionage unless she is the most powerful color strength in a tile match.

I think ICEIX explained that this actually only affects the AI-controlled OBW - the AI was getting espionage damage even when OBW didn't have the highest number for those colors.

Yes, I thought it was clear in the line above... "when on an enemy team". Alot of people use her and have her in their PVP teams, so I know, when I am going against a team with her, she gets squishied under my thumb first. Now, same, but she will just be less annoying to fight against.

For you guys that score that high more regularly: do you have to shield a lot to get there or do you have any good advice?

Disclaimer... I'm not a super high point scorer... sometimes 900s but mostly 800s. Maybe cause I haven't really needed the cover awards... except that Lazy Thor one. That was quite an affair.

I mostly play by managing the nodes... paying the skip tax until I can find some worthwhile points, like 30 points or over. It's not exactly possible to find many of those when you get in 700s and 800s, but I'll know by then to adjust my expectations. Hitting fatter points makes it less likely they'll retaliate against you since you're worth so little to them. On the other hand, if they DO retaliate, then you can hit them back for another 30 points or so. It's a positive spiral for you and negative spiral for them.

Occasionally, someone with 1000+ points will attack. I don't know why. Maybe cause they can't find anyone else worth any points. Maybe they don't like the way my in-game-name sounds. Whatever. Sometimes, I save the big time retaliations for the end game (since those don't disappear). Yes, shields go up depending on your time and availability. I've done them all... 24 hours, 8 hours, 3 hours. Cause sometimes I know I won't be able to play at the end. Aligned with my node strategy, once I'm shielded, I pay more iso to skip, looking for some big point targets cause when/if I unshield, I want to be hitting high point targets ASAP. Similar with progression awards... shield, then queue up some targets. Attack and reshield. Queue up some more.

The only thing hasn't clicked in my brain is the chase for #1. I've always been settling for top5 or top10. Maybe the 4* cover hasn't been awesome enough yet. Maybe there is such a high hp cost to victory ratio for me.

So in summary, no real strategy icon_e_biggrin.gif

Seriously - so many OBWs in PVP. So many. I've been trying to limit my use with her (but don't take away my Spidey! Not yet) and using a 3* for the "defensive" game. Few people want to attack a level 100+ Hulk even though he's slow on offense without strike tiles - which he's just going to Thunder Clap away.

This seems like good advice. I've never tried for the 1100 award. I'm tempted to try since I missed out on that falcon cover. Issue is my highest heroes are 128 and I get matched against 144 teams. It's a real challenge. Your suggestion for managing your nodes seems valuable. I usually just hit everyone over 20. I don't know that I've even seen anyone for over 30.

I'd say it's important to shield once you've done more than 5 fights against teams that could kill you. Because it's likely that at least one of them will retaliate. I usually only hit easy wins til I get to 800. This does take more time but I've been fairly safe from retaliations. Then I start seeing 100+ teams and I'm not sure you can hit more than 3-4 before a retaliation gets you back.

Now that we have a bit of breather (unless Tonzil's dire prediction turns out to be true), let's take a moment to reach out to our hidden Care Bears...

Maximum Fun - I don't know if we've ever met. We can see you play occasionally. Communicate with us!

Cochonnet - K.Mon says your a serious lurker... but don't be! We have an in-game chat! Let's use it.

We don't want to be in a situation where you disappear for a couple of days/weeks and we have no of contacting and communicating with you. I also believe we can succeed well as a team if we're sharing each others struggles and triumphs and encouragements.
  • Just quickly poking my head back in to say thanks for your kind responses. Also, no particular game I'm moving onto.
  • Bye vbr and good luck in whatever you do. You'll be missed. As others have said, if you ever want to come back, DD would have no problem kicking me to let you back in

I'm surprised we dropped to 100, wow. I had a frustrating night last in PvP. Some of you were present to hear me vent about OBW/CStorm wiping the floor with me, burning 3 of my health packs. The very next game, I let the enemy Thor get his green off. I was considering throwing the PvP but I decided to throw up a shield just to force myself to stay away from PvP for the night. I wasn't gonna keep playing, I know this feeling and if I kept playing I woulda suffered some really stupid losses. In hindsight I'm glad I threw up a useless shield!

I then did a few PvE, ended the night on a good note and slept. I ended up Top 10 in an easy bracket. When the event started, I waited a day to enter the PvE just to see if it'll be easier and I think I'll be entering the next PvE a day late and see what happens. I missed half of the weekday subs and was pretty chill the entire event. If you got a tough bracket, try waiting a day next time.

Got Invisible Woman in an Assault token! Never gonna use her but it's nice to have her. That roster slot was actually reserved for Juggernaut (yes, I am preparing for the 1* tourney) but I think I'd rather have a 4* warming the bench.

I'm gonna take the next one serious. Burnout? Pffft, after The Hunt, I am REJUVENATED, not burned out. I finally have time to concentrate on PvP and play around in SHIELD simulator. This'll be the first time I take a Mon-Wed tourney seriously. Punisher Green doesn't mean anything to me so I have some breathing room, but I might as well try to do the best I can
  • Hi CareBears,

    Love the name btw.
I would like to join your alliance.
New to the game and I do ok with what I have.
Looking for a bit of support to increase my team.

I can contribute to the alliance point in events.
    Fairly active player.

I usually register as Hunter but that was taken, hence Dragon Hunter.

    thanks

    Do you play daily?
    What are your favourite heroes?
Do you play on phone or computer?
    What's your favourite care bear?
Do you play both PvP and PvE?
How did you discover the game?

I'm a week new member to the alliance so I don't make decisions. I just ask stupid questions icon_razz.gif

    Assorted post-Hunt thoughts:

    - I'd love a Punisher red (alliance colour this time around) as I still need a couple of those for my lilbunnypunpun but would completely understand if many of us took it easier for Top Gun.

Scratch that, I just realized that the tournament overlaps with my work-related travelling this week, so if I'm not really going to be that active, I can't ask the alliance to just drop it on my lap. Silly me.

I'm 36, married with kids. I'm an IT Manager and I wear a tie to work everyday. I'm stuck with my kids, so I don't do anything. When's the last time I went out to the movies?

  • I'm happy to share personal info, but I think I'll keep it to the in-game chat as it feels less permanent/public there. So feel free to ask me in-game. I just don't like how the entire forum can access our alliance thread.
