  • AH! The simulator event.

Well, (for Ben's science experiment), good'ish news. I have tanked my entire roster, I don't know 5 or 6 times by now. I burned through 20 or so health packs (waiting on the regen - had to work late doing server migrtions last night. Lots of wait time and way off hours).

My hard start node is now down from 395 x 3 to a almost getting to be soon manageable 266 x 3.

I am beginning to see in "easy" simulator, some nodes down from 395 x 3 to 212 x 3.

I guess my MMR is getting lower... So, I am waiting for some health packs and some covers to heal, before I go at tanking the **** out of my roster again. I figure I can get that done 3 or 4 more times before the end of the "work day". Not like it takes long to get smashed to pieces by a single "call the storm" which stomps 9K / 4.5K from your covers.

Anyhow, Ben Grimm, if you get a chance to PM me, (I am not sure your tag on the forums), I have some precious data for your science experiment... (Perception wise - although my data may be flwed by lack of sleep)...

    Cheers.

Hope to see you all in the rankings before the end of the First Sub.

You mean Ultimate Frisbee? Like the college kids?

He means Frisbee Golf (as us Europeans call it). You throw a disc into metal baskets out in the wilderness. You don't sweat much when playing it, just like real golf. It's just a hike through the woods with minor physical exertion.

It's great. I do it sometimes with friends, but not often enough.

I live in Texas, trust me, you sweat. icon_e_wink.gif It was a hobby I picked up when I was in high school. Anytime my group of friends had injuries that prevented us from play soccer we'd play disc golf to stay active. Now that we're old it's one of the few sports we can still play regularly.

There's still more data to gather! What happens when you successfully complete a node? How quickly does the scaling ramp back up?

Top Gun recap! Tough finish all. Mid-day end times aren't always easy for us and points were inflating throughout the event across all alliances. We finished a bit outside top100 so we couldn't get the cover prize (sorry Kamu!). Still a little bit of HP and a little bit of iso and at least four of us got the yellow Falcon!

Thanks for everyone's contributions. Be aware that we are actively managing the alliance and the membership, so we are communicating with everyone and tuning where it needs to be tuned. We are expecting Panduras to be back after his long long long long long vacation May 5. It's a testament to how well we're doing with one player down! This is encouragement that should allow everyone here to be able to take a break or a vacation (let us know in forum or pm... not the chat - we talk soooo much in there that we might miss your announcement!) and our alliance can still perform reasonably well.

As for the pve? Sorry purinxa, I already jumped in. I couldn't wait any longer. You'll show me the error of my ways. icon_e_confused.gif
  • Well, DD, I'll survive just fine. I barely had a chance to get 10 games in for the tournament myself. And I'm still out of town. This work trip has been a long string of delirium and frustration and electronics that refuse to behave. I'm so looking forward to be home tonight. That's for sure when I'll be jumping on to the simulator. 48 hours and I feel so MPQ deprived!

Are you kidding? Do you know how many times my teams have wiped? How many healthpacks I burned... which reminds me, I need to collect my daily...

Damn, I might need to win a fight... Off to PVP simulator!!

There is no way I am touching a node, before:

A - I can beat my entry into the "hard event".

B - I have no choice and there is less than 12 hours left in the Subs...
  • On a Happy note!!! LOKI COVERS!

I haven't seen them giving out Loki covers in forever. Damn I need those. He is one of my least covered and lowest leveled (for a 3*) toons. Currently 2/2

I gonna work extra hard to get me 2 more of those... By the same token, should get me a Heroic 10 pack. Only 700 points needed for Season 1 reward. icon_e_smile.gif

Which, is surprisingly hard to get anything done, considering my whole roster is ALWAYS DEAD!!! icon_e_sad.gif

Decisions, decisions... Tanking the Simulator... Or Heroic 10 pack + Loki covers...

    Why does MPQ hate me?!

Im taking the tanking approach to this event. My mmr is pretty high. And for the pvp as well, my top ten in the falcon:

    jz19.jpg

Guess my pvp mmr is high as a kite.

If you look at the event thread, people are saying there was some anomalies in the visibility whilst shielding. I don't know if that's official or whatever, but that might explain the point inflation. Why, even lowly DecoyDuck was able to take advantage and get over 1100.

That's just your crazy bracket - your MMR shouldn't have anything to do with your bracket (i.e. when you enter the event). There's still a Season 1 score to maintain!!!

p.s. aside from Dark Silence - he's in his own league.
  • Who needs Loki? I don't. Tokens have been kind to me.

Question: Do we believe next PvP will be Loki one? I've not leveled him yet - should I? (74 at the moment and have ISO to spare).

@ DecoyDuck: How come you only apollogise to Kamu for not scoring alliance Punisher reward? I needed it too ;( [kidding]

Even at level 74, your Loki is already generously covered for a niche character.
Even though the cover award is kinda lower on the desirability list, don't forget to pump up those Season1 scores! The Devs are testing us! Having a bizarre Loki tournament might just be another test (although the buzz is another round of Divine Champions). At least I'm going to try to keep some high pvp scores throughout the Season. What if our humble alliance was able to score a Nick Fury cover???

Tanking? That's what Lightning Rounds are for.
  • Alright.

After countless rounds of tanking after tanking, and we are talking full roster deaths... I finally managed to get the "hard entry node" down to 132.

I did the allliance plunge thing, and ripped it a new one.

Now consider, I have noone left alive in my roster. Spiey lives...

I took down that node and jumped in and scored a few points. 4K or so.

I should be good to go tomorrow with a full, healed roster and some health packs.

    I AM IN!

I have alot of catching up to do, I am down in my main by about 15K. So I dont expect to finish in top 3, but, Falcon convers CAN be an option.

    Extra contribution coming our way.

It's not going to be an easy night tomorrow, but, I am sure I can score big, especially with 2~3K nodes waiting to be hit... icon_e_smile.gif
  • There's been speculation the next event is Divine Champions, which does feature Loki. I wouldn't be surprised if this is that.
  • Hi all ^^, I just wanted to formally introduce myself, say hi to everyone ^^ and tell you guys and gals a little about myself since I'm one of your newest recruits that just joined a couple days ago. I'm 35 years old, glad to see a good number of you guys are also in your 30's so I fit right in -lol-. For now I work for a warehouse that sells computer parts and in the near future I might be taking over my dad's auto repair shop since he almost 70 and wants to retire soon. I guess I'm one of those kids that grew up in the 80's that just loved video games so even to this day even though alot of my friends grew out of it I still enjoy playing games alot on my free time and have way to many games to play and never enough time to play everything. I find at my age now my mind is stubborn too so I normally will be hooked on a few games and will just keep play the hell out of those games as long as its still fun for me which is why I am so hooked on Marvels puzzle quest. I started playing it back in December when it first came out on Steam. Since then I have been hooked, I enjoy everything about the game, its just a addicting puzzle battle game period. I play pvp cause I like the challenge of working on ranking top 50 to get the nice cover rewards at the end of events for cards I need, and pve I play just for fun to for rewards you can get at the end. For me part of the fun is also collecting cards which is why you will see why I have such a large roster -lol-, never enough iso to lvl everything either so I guess collecting iso becomes part of the fun. Speaking of which right now I have 100k iso saved up -lol-, still havn't decided yet what I will use it on to lvl up next. The Top Gun pvp that just ended I wanted to make a good showing since it was my first pvp with you guys, I reached 1100 and wanted to try getting 1300 for invisible woman cover -lol-. I know I was crazy for trying but I wanted to push my luck. I kept on trucking but was getting hit alot so I was yoyo'ing too much. After yoyo'ing for 2 hours then getting knocked back to 1029 I had to stop there and shield up. For those of you that wanted Red Punisher reward sorry but those of us who played the hell out of that event tried. Just not enough of us that scored high enough in that event to break top 100 even though I think we were pretty close.

I know I wrote alot but you can blame DecoyDuck for that, he was the one that insisted I write a introduction of myself for you guys to get to know me better -haha-, j/k DD ^^. Anyways I am almost done writing here, I just wanted to add I am very happy to be apart of your guys/gals family here ^^. I been on the waiting list cause I told DecoyDuck this is the alliance I want to be apart of that feels like home to me cause I like everything I saw already when I read your guys alliance forum here. I told him I will wait for a spot to open and luckily a spot did open and I am greatful for DecoyDuck for taking me in ^^. I look forward to meeting everyone on here and to chatting with everyone in game chat ^^, I hope our family here continues to grow and be strong, and play hard, so we can all work together to get the nice Cover rewards at the end of events ^^. But more importantly I hope we all continue to communicate on here and in game chat about game stuff or funny stuff, etc and just to have fun...! ^^, because when it comes down to it were all suppose to be playing this game to have fun. And remember... if you can't beat someone in game? stand tall in front of em, cross your arms... give em your best CareBearStare until they quit -lol-, and if you need backup... put me on your speed dial and call me up and I'll come give em the BoogerBearStare till they get a nose bleed from staring at my booger for too long. CareBearStare + Boogerbear = it was meant to be.

Have a good day guys and gals ^^

Does that mean I need to do the same? 36 Married w/ 2 kids under 5. Network Engineer. Nothing too exciting hence my generic name. I am the opposite of you - I have less than 300 ISO and about 125HP. If it can be spent it will be.

Heh heh, I usually send the "introduce yourself" message AFTER our first PVP together. I still will.

Another IT fellow. We ought to start a support group.

I can't complain it pays the bills. IT is pretty broad. I used to be in the USAF. When I picked my job for there the description said possible career was a NASA controller. That description couldn't have been more wrong. Been out about 10 years and I really like what I do and thats whats important. Tier III/IV networking and design.
  • Tonzil, so you joined into the main bracket late, right? If my hypothesis is correct, you'll have an easy time ranking high

With everyone in their 30s, it's no wonder I'm the only one obsessed with Pokemon! I was 12 when Pokemon red/blue came out in N America and it was the greatest thing ever. I'm pretty much the oldest person that's allowed to have been caught up in that craze. When you're in high school, you're too cool for Pokemon and I guess a lot of you were in High School and beyond when Pokemon frenzy swept over N America

Did you flip flop more as a kid? I obsess over games and even the single player one-and-done games I spend lots of time on. It's not like the CoD kid stereotype where they play the campaign for 3 hours then throw the game away. I really treasure and play the hell out of whatever games I have, and I was like this as a kid. I even obsessively played garbage that I didn't even enjoy. I didn't even know how to play FF1 (didn't know how to level, buy items, equip items, use spells etc...) and found that game hard as hell (it's pretty hard even if you know what you're doing...) and I just played the hell out of it despite never being able to get to the second town. I played Japanese games that I basically had no shot at beating, purely through trial and error. I played games that had unplayably aweful controls just cuz. I hated a lot of games but I obsessively played them anyway

I remember asking my mom for the coolest newest $80 game, and on the car ride back home I'd be so excited. I would flip through the instruction manual over and over again. I kinda miss that. The only next gen thing I have is a 3DS and it's just so empty when I open the box and there's no instruction booklet in it. Instead it's embedded into the game cartridge, and I basically access it via the 3DS. I feel like a part of my soul is missing when I open a 3DS game box and there's only a cartridge inside

I'm also the type of person to play games for too long. More recently this has included Borderlands 2 and X-com but in the past I played FFX twice and registered 600 hours. My first game platform was an Amiga, then Gameboys and eventually PC and Playstation 2 and now PS3. My pile of shame (unplayed games) is HUGE. I still have wrapped PS2 games that I haven't gotten around to. Never mind the fact that half the PS3 games I own I've not found the time to play. It's all because I get obsessed with the games that I do play.

With the internet the instruction booklets that come with games are so pointless as you probably know everything you need to just from seeing previews and reviews online.

I really should stop playing MPQ and finish some of the games I started a decade ago, Assassins Creed (1) and Final Fantasy 12. Borrowed GTA5 from a friend a few months back and still haven't finished it. It's all MPQ. I feel silly when I stop and think about it.
