I think people are missing that the bigger deal isn't that they set up a very hard challenge, it's that Mr Fantastic isn't very good.

The standard they've set is a 1 on 1 battle against a level 270 opponent. How many opponents would have made this "fair"? This would have been hard against Squirrel Girl, Beast, and IM40.

Interesting thing is that while this is true, Invisible Woman isn't much better. However, her day was arguably the best 4* DDQ so far.

I honestly think a 270 Bagman would wipe the floor with Mr. F. Not like he would need a whales TU

    Updated the title.

And a very fine update it is.

Though IW and Prof are different because you can win with just 1 cover if you're great at protecting a single tile.

The Devil Dino battle wasn't against a lv270 opponent, so they have shown glimpses of common sense in the past.

And there are plenty of opponents that wouldn't have been far easier. The problem with Doom is that ALL of his 3 abilities will end the match, unless you are extraordinarily lucky (ie, no traps on the board when purple goes off, all attack tiles matchable when black goes off).

Hell, Jean would've been WAY easier. Her two actives are slow, and they only do 3-4k damage. You'd have plenty of time to heal between casts. The only real danger would be the specials her green leaves behind. But there's less of them than Doom, and they're half as strong.

Many players will be given a board with the ability to beat this node

So you're ok with "many" getting even an opportunity? How many is an acceptable "many"? The rest of the players with well covered Mr Fs who don't get a miracle board with that opportunity just have to say "oh well, maybe next time"?

    Alright then.

Here's the issue. It was originally intended to help in the four star transition.
Please stop saying this, it is completely inaccurate. The VERY FIRST XFW v. Cyclops battle made it clear that it's meant for people that have 4*s to earn more 4*s (as well as the new 5*s if they get lucky).

This I don't know if I agree with. The XFW fight was super tough for my 2/3/1, but after multiple retries I got it. The feeling at the time was rewarding - "Okay, with a little less than half his covers, I pulled this off with effort."

What's been weird/interesting/annoying (your call) is how this wasn't a blueprint: IW and PX depended on pure strategy, SL and Flaptain on luck and endurance, with rounds like XFW and Fury probably closest to a middle ground. You never know what you're gonna get with this, but whether that's great or terrible has a lot to do with your personal approach to the game.

With my Mr. F at 3/2/4 and level 175 I beat Doom on my second try. Yes, MF sucks, but denying him purple and blue makes it a winnable battle.
  • When announced to us the player base, the 4* DDQ was to help speed up the transition. All that was required of us is the featured 4* character. With the introduction of the Legendary Token, things changed before launch and we are we are today.

    This match up is bad

1/3/3 soft capped Mr F. Took about three or four tries without boosting. Little bit of bad luck on the failures and a little bit of good luck on the last try. Felt pretty easy.

Had to be thoughtful with when I used my skills. Only stun when you can set up a high damage cascade, or if it lets you weaken a doom blue or purple by a lot.

Very surprised that people who have more covered versions than me are having any trouble.

Managed it with my 1/5/3 lvl 120 in two tries. Boosted black/green, blue/purple and 100% match damage. Got him down to 1500 on the first try before he cascaded into purple. Second try, beat him with almost full health thanks to healing - guess I was lucky with no major cascades on either side.

I almost didn't bother trying with all the doom and gloom in this thread... I'm glad I gave it a shot.

No wins yet in my bracket.

    Working as intended.

My bracket (joined ~12:00 Eastern) has two winners: one with a 4/3/5 Mr. F and one with a 5/2/3.

Not sure if you're trolling or just arrogant. I have 20 attempts with 3/5/3 at lvl 167 so far and only came close to win it once. There's a huge number of people who didn't win it yet. Stretch is just awful and when he gets in a 1vs1 fight he becomes abysmal. While ol' Vic is a pretty decent character.
  • My 4/0/1 Fantastic can't hack it. With more black, it might work, but with my current build, it's fairly hopeless.
  • There are some "comedy people" saying RR and Doom is easy. Or is someone the team of devs or have your butt facing the moon. I have not wasted my time trying this node.

Not only is my FF undercovered, ( 2/1/3), but Doom is getting IMMACULATE boards. No less than 3 match 5s in every single match I've played, and that doesn't take Technopathic Strikes into account.

I can see how a win is theoretically possible, but I'm basically only playing because I've done my PVE clears and finished up the Loki PVP so I have nothing to do with my health packs. It's basically hopeless without a miracle board in my favor.
  • This is the 6:45 PM EST update of the news. 0 MPQ players have been able to beat Dr. Doom in the current bracket. Can anyone beat Doom or are we all set for doom? Details at 11.

Could you explain how you did this? a 1/3/3 MF is basically attempting to take 12k HP via match damage. Even if you have Imaginaut out and every turn you get a cascade of 3 Green, Yellow or Red matches that's still like 12 turns. 12 turns in which you will not be stopping Doom from collecting Blue, Purple and Black. Only way I see this happening is with continuous cascades of 5-matches.

    14 tries throughout my day with a 2/2/5 135 Mr.F

Never expected to win, and had almost retreated on the very match I beat him. Somehow ended up with 60 health, 4 or 5 shields, black tile out, and doom with 3k left. Victory screen had me at 52 health. It was the only match of 14 where his colors didn't tumble down from heaven whenever he needed them.
