Well they're getting into the 4*'s where they haven't been out long, so only whales have them fully covered. And some 4*'s just aren't meant to be run alone. (There's a reason there's never been a Mr Fantastic solo book in the 70+ years since his creation.)

I pulled it off with a 2/3/3 lvl 168 and got a purple Iceman that I needed as my prize.

I used damage and critical boosts and made sure to deny purple at all costs. The black you can survive, the purple no way.

Having a stun and a heal makes this more reasonable than Falcon in my opinion for a 1 v 1 match. Imaginaut with some cascades can at least carve some chunks of health out.

So doable, but tough. Less problematic if you could actually use the AP from the color you are trying to deny.

I just wish there was a consistent vision for how difficult these fights are supposed to be. If they're meant to be this hard, fine. Screw them, but fine, we'll get used to it. The problem is some of them are downright easy, and some of them are blindingly difficult.

My Reed Richards has 7 covers. To me, that's around where these things should be doable. I got close enough once that I could see how it would be possible with an extremely lucky board. But I ran out of boosts and I'm not willing to spend HP on this nonsense. Meanwhile I've won some of these nodes with only 4 or 5 covers (Invisible Woman, Deadpool, Professor X), and struggled with some where I had more than 7.

This is my question too. I don't expect them to be easy. But at what point should you have a good chance at beating the node? From the original handful, I thought 6 covers or so seemed legitimate. Sure, they need to be the right covers - My 0/4/3 icon_ironman.png and 3/3/0 icon_captainamerica.png had very little shot, while a 1/0/0 icon_invisiblewoman.png has an OK chance. But lately, my icon_kingpin.png had 5 covers, icon_thing.png had 7, and icon_mrfantastic.png has 6, and outside of a time or two, I haven't even been close.

Given that we're still not sure when this will reset back to XFW, this could be a bigger problem than just me whining. icon_x23.png / icon_ghostrider.png / icon_hulkcho.png can't be that well covered by non-whales, considering the last two aren't even in normal tokens yet and probably won't be until next season starts. But if we don't reset, they, along with the next 2 4*s, would be up by late Dec/early January. Are we just supposed to chalk up that stretch to only being do-able if we've bought covers*? If it's the case, the devs may want to get in front of that tinykitty storm before it hits.

*Which I don't mind doing for the DDQ if the character's would play a significant role in my 4* transition. Jean/XDP? Sure. Mr. F? No way.

This is a great example of why this forum annoys the **** **** out of me sometimes. No one EVER complained that they want it to be easy. There's a huge distance between "easy" and what this **** is. Almost as much as the distance between the above and a constructive post. Go play dev apologist somewhere else. • This fight if you do not have a level well RR and lucky you do not have the least chance. RR is more or less in groups and alone is a shame. To make matters worse, the next DDQ 4 * I and the vast majority should not even try.

The next must be Iceman. Iceman I got 3 in pve event, 1 in Ice Breaker and 1 in God of Lies. No Iceman LT and other tokens. icon_e_sad.gif

Others are anniversary and post events. These events could additional covers with the alliances that joined but do not have enough covers to start putting iso8.png

Apparently DDQ 4 * will be feasible only when the characters turn to me and almost everyone who did not put good money in these future essential characters of DDQ 4 *.

Beat on the 6th try with level 168 4/2/2. It took a match-5 chain and small cascade while I had him stunned and had my black tile out.

New bracket, others starting to come in:
    140 4/5/2
    175 4/2/3
    215 5/3/5

    Aw shucks, it was Doom.

I went to sleep praying "Please be Bagman, please be Bagman," because I really wanted to see some "Rrrraaargh, I losts to teh Bagman!" rage when I woke up. Oh well...

    It took 15 tries, but I did eventually beat icon_doctordoom.png with my level 175 4/2/3 icon_mrfantastic.png .....

    But was it worth it?

Well, I spent however much it cost to level from 127 to 175 (something I wouldn't have done otherwise), and I spent about 3500 iso8.png on damage boosts, and walked away with a blueflag.pngicon_thor.png, which I already have cover maxed.

Was it worth it? Prize-wise, not a chance, but it did keep the perfect streak alive.

Something a little disheartening about that - going at such a ridiculously hard match over and over and over and for what - 1000 iso8.png ......

At least I'm #1 in my bracket....LOL (only 3 have completed it in mine).....

Wow, that's a lot of hostility. Plenty of people have beat this node. Several in my bracket alone, and several of those with undercovered Mr. F's. I'm sorry you can't beat it and wish the devs made it "not difficult" enough for you (I will avoid using the word easy so as not to offend you further). This whole node is a gift anyway. Perhaps it would have been better had they not rolled it out at all.

When you're being unnecessarily and baselessly dismissive of the frustrations of some of the people who have been playing the game since the early days and have a pretty good idea of what makes the difference between a very difficult, but possible, challenge, and an unbalanced one that can only be won with a ton of luck involved, then you really shouldn't be too surprised that your opinions aren't being received with smiles and thundrous applause.

Here's the issue. It was originally intended to help in the four star transition. However, this node requires you to be very far a long in the four star transition or basically a four star player. That isn't tough, that's annoying. Why would anyone actually cover a Mr. F to 270? Outside of a good relationship with Carnage, he's useless. The fact that there's a 10% chance at a 5-star (odd I got two OML back to back) makes the dev team feel like this must be a rare token.

I'm going to go conspiracy theorist for a minute and address those who say the dev team doesn't play their game or have no clue what's going on. They do. On top of that, I believe ouch-hard 4* DDQ matches are on purpose. Let's say they want to see X amount of legendaries. If there's too little, make the token a bit more obtainable (IW and CP). If there's too many (Whales alliances producing CP like it comes off trees and thus more LTs) then make the token harder to obtain.

Basically I believe LTs are probably being awarded at a rate higher than the X amount causing an issue for the dev team and the number crunchers.

The people who have completed the node probably had insane godly cascading luck, probably after putting out his black skill. Cus it seems there's no other way to beat this node, aside from cascade luck.

You can say it shouldn't be "easy" but the fact is that we should not have to rely on 100% cascade luck to beat any node in any match-3 game. That's just unfair.

As far as I'm concerned the devs messed up big time with this match up. They should've set an opponent who is more of a support like Reeds with maybe just 1 damaging skill like Reeds.

You also need to be objective and look at the situation from both sides of the coin, maybe explain in further detail why it shouldn't be "easy" instead of the whole "it takes 1 whole pve to gain 1 LT". Cus that's a lazy analogy. I mean have you even tried the doom node yet?

you also need to look at it from a match-up point of view as well. Or else it's true that your post is almost completely non-constructive.

So NOW they decide to go with story line appropriate?? Doom is a beast for a regular 4*....but for Mr. Failtastic? Yikes....Mr. F is the only 4* i don't have (well and GR), but he seems like the one not to have...lol...most of my 4*s are undercovered, so I don't attempt all the DDQs...but even with 6 covers I would skip this one.....

Lucky win with 3/4/2 Level 172 w/ 100% match damage.

I say lucky since I survived a diabolical plot, with 4 protect tiles, and got 3 heals thereafter.

Please stop saying this, it is completely inaccurate. The VERY FIRST XFW v. Cyclops battle made it clear that it's meant for people that have 4*s to earn more 4*s (as well as the new 5*s if they get lucky).

Erm.. They need more 4* in the 4* transition. Cus that's what the transition stage is: completing your 4*s... Your logic is seriously flawed..

Several? How many is several? Five, six? You know how many people get the legendary in a normal PvE ? In the range of hundreds in every sub. In my bracket just 5 people have beaten him, just 5!!!

And how are those several RRs that have beaten Doom because in mine all are 200+ lvl and 5/x/5 (all except one that is 3/2/4 160 level).

My RR is not underleveled or badly overed, I have 10 covers and he is level 167, and I am hitting a wall. Yeah maybe eventually I will be lucky and I will beat him, because I will have a board without purple and black, but this is not how it should be. This fight is not difficult, it is completely unfair, you should learn the difference. Dark Souls is difficult, but fair. This is just unfair.

And man, an advice for the future, think before posting. Everybody is posting that this fight is crazy hard and you enter to say that it shouldn't be easy?!?!?!. Nobody is asking for easy! Just for fair!
  • When 4* DDQ first launched and the speculation over possible matchups began, so many people seemed fixated on there being historically accurate comic book matchups.
Kingpin HAS to fight Daredevil, Professor X HAS to fight Magneto, Mr Fantastic HAS to fight Dr Doom.

I get the appeal of that but now the Devs have delivered on that latter matchup and what we have is a weak support character fighting solo against a self-sufficient self-powered damage dealer. Doom with 2 powers that will effectively win the match. Black (accelerated by Blue) and Purple.
Mr F with only 2 active powers: Blue stun/shield tiles (hard to match if Doom has already converted all the blues into black tiles) and Black which creates a countdown tile that is so easily matched by Doom's Blue-into-Black and also only really works if you match colours that neither player needs which of course makes it easier for Doom to get the colours he does need to K.O. you.

It's funny, I'd always imagined new character's powers were designed or inspired in some small part by trying to counter an existing character or power. But this 4*DDQ has really shown that Mr Fantastic would seem to be have been purposely designed to be totally and utterly dominated by his comic book nemesis, a character who has already been in the game for a while now.

I got him second try with my 1/3/5 166 Mr. F. Boosted all damage 150%, boosted black/green 50%, boosted black/green. Once I got my black tile out, I went for the damage - particularly if I could get a multiple match. If there was no red, green, or yellow match, I went for black, then blue. Doom never got purple off, he did get blue off twice and black off once, but when I saw the black was coming I left the red matches on the board so I could mitigate the damage. I never got blue off, and got healed once by my tile getting matched.

I would not say I was particularly lucky with my own matches, but I would say that Doom was unlucky with his. He could have gotten off his purple on the last turn, but fortunately I downed him. I'd say it's doable so long as you have decent black, but you have to get really lucky.
