Lol. Broken PVE content. It's the HARD SIMULATOR. What did you expect?0
-
Loki does kinda trivialize that even if you can get enough black. I had over 1500 in shields scattered around the board. It's just surviving the initial strike tiles.0

I'm confused about why my levels are already scaling when I haven't even started the event: my training guys are level 41 when they were 38 an hour or 2 ago.0

Do you have a grey suit widow? Use Deceptive Tactics to overwrite yellow tiles. If you can get it below 6 he starts losing those HP instead.
Cap with his shield stun can overwrite the strike tiles and hold back regen. And once you have enough blue it can come close to locking a target down.
Either storm, juggernaught, hulk or magneto can regularly clear the board of tiles.not as effective as the first 2 but still an option.0 -

If it's like the last two events, it responds in part to the community, not just the single player.0 -

At a guess I would say a component of the scaling is down to how everyone else is doing against them .0 -

Do we think doing easy mode makes hard mode harder? Kinda hard to tell when it wobbles about, regardless. Wondering if it'd make any sense just skimming the 5000 ISO out of easy and leaving it alone, otherwise. Probably not, since as long as everyone else is doing them they're going to keep creeping up, anyway.
And lv120 Daken really isn't that unreasonable in a clearly labeled hard mode. Yeah, he's a pain in the butt, but there's a huge buff on one of the characters with an ability that directly ruins his day. It's not until high 100s/200+ that he just turns into Spider-Man or go home guy. Even that you can manage with Patch and Loki, but they cunningly put X-Force in to sit around being useless so you can't. X-Force buff 2 days before event end, then?0 -

This. There seems to be (albeit much more reasonable than Thick as Thieves/Heroic Oscorp) global community scaling, so sitting out nodes/refreshes is just leaving money on the table.0 -

Good Galactus, this event looks effing awesome. Tens of thousands of ISO, improved enemy scaling, and an awesome looking new 3*? Yes please. (Also, hey, an Asian hero! We're getting the diversity we asked for!)
If anyone cares whether I'm in their bracket or not, I'll be starting the event late tonight, probably around 11 pm PST. I do need IW yellow (well, "need" is kind of a strong word) and I'm on vacation all next week. Take that as you will.0 -
How much time are left in the subs now? I think I might join later tonight since I'm getting antsy about not grinding them right away.0

NorthernPolarity wrote:Hey IceIX, what was the design reasoning behind the levels scaling cumulatively as opposed to on a per node basis? A lot of the forumers (myself included) were requesting static scaling so that only each individual node scales, and I was curious as to why you guys were doing this scaling across the board.
Also, does this level scaling persist across different subevents?
Persisting across subevents - yes.
Scaling missions individually doesn't do enough to satisfy the design goals of this feature: making our events maximally interesting for the widest possible subset of players and reducing grind. We couldn't do rewards like the 5000 Iso-8 challenge mission reward in this event in a system like that. It would either be too trivial for top-end players to get or they would be the only people that had any hope of getting it.0 -

Pretty much this here as well.
For most, mid/low-high tier, if they don't clear the hard 5k iso node rather soon, it will escalate beyond their capacity to successfully complete them.0 -

Thanks for the explanation! I didn't think about this system reducing overall grind, since theoretically it would increase enemy levels up to a point where people slowly stop doing the missions, which can be desirable.Lyrian wrote:walkyourpath wrote:Veracity wrote:Probably not, since as long as everyone else is doing them they're going to keep creeping up, anyway.

Wait, so do the levels of everyone's nodes increase at the same rate? I remember in the previous events that your own nodes increased whenever you beat a missions, does this not occur anymore?0 -
So if I get the model correct.
You can sit out to the end of a sub and try to use rubber banding to slingshot to victory, but you will face the hardest possible challenges. Or you can get in earlier, face easier challenges but have to do them more often?
Sure you still need to fight towards the end of the round to win, but maybe you not need to grind the 230 magneto/hood/doom match.0 -
Think about it.
It's quite a vicious cycle.
If you don't play the missions, the levels of them will creep up as the global population finishes plays them.
As people notice that the levels are becoming out of hand, they will attempt to play them and collect the rewards as fast as possible before they become unreachable... which in turn hastens the leveling of the missions.... and so on and so forth....
With the scaling carrying over between Rounds, this is probably going to get out of hand rather quickly, short of whatever level cap ceilings are in place on each mission.
So... what's the over/under on how fast the level ceilings are reached, at least on Standard mode? (Does hard mode even have a cap below 230s?)0 -
Hmm... how much time are left on the subs? I'm probably going to join tonight to get that 5k iso reward.0

The only winning move is not to play.0 -
Going to have a late night tonight, but can't wait to get home and try some of this out. Psylocke is a fav of mine (she looks like just like my girlfriend, so I'm biased)0
