Ok, I just retreated about 25 times and there was no change in levels. So I'll tentatively say this does not work.
I think it's good, actually, that you can't artificially lower the difficulty.
Maybe retreating and losing (ie - everyone at 0 HP) is treated differently? icon_razz.gif
  • So. Has anyone tried losing in missions to bring the levels down yet? No idea if it'll work, what with the community scaling and all, but it's worth finding out, right?
In fact, I'll go try that right now.

My theory is that that would work, if EVERYONE was retreating. I think community scaling means you can't tank the system on your own, but if everyone is having trouble with, let's say, a level 150 Daken/X-Force/Thug, then the system might reduce it down once enough people lose to that mission and/or nobody is playing it.

Who knows, but like I said earlier, I think the system is "better" in that it doesn't punish people for having put time into MPQ in the past, though it will for sure be difficult for lots of people regardless.

Jeez, that 5k X-force fight was level 171 by the time I got there on hard. Spidey stunlock barely got there for me... pretty brutal. On the other hand, yay for level 141 Punisher! First maxed out hero for me, =D
  • I just beat the 5k fight on hard. All were level 165, which for my team of level 60 Rags, 60 Mags and 45 IM40 meant it was pretty damn hard. Used Rags to tank the initial damage while I took down X-Force, then used Mags Purple and 2 Unibeams to take down Daken, and casually took out the Maggia to finish. Rags was dead before the halfway point, but thankfully boosted IM40 and Mags finished the job.

    If only I had Loki...
Happy Pay2Win event, with about 50% of points only available with Loki.

How is LOKI pay to win?

I mean sure, maybe if it was IW, but ****' Loki?

Haven't done any of the missions yet.

On one accounts Prep 01 enemies are lv 7-8 and Prep 02 enemies are lv 24-25
On another account, Prep 01 enemies are lv1 and Prep 02 enemies are lv 13-14.

On top of community scaling, is there some MMR factor, too?
Again, I haven't started this event in either account.

Any theories? Maybe it also factors in your own roster levels?

I wish these subs were only a day long. Get some more featured 3-stars out there instead of 2+ days with Loki. It'd mean more ISO, as well.

Some people just like to complain for the hell of it.
It was funny for me though. I saw I needed Loki, and I didn't have him. Won a standard token, opened it....Loki! Sure, he's not very useful right now, but at least I can do the fights.

May have to invest some iso into Daken for this event: his strike tiles remind me of Wolvie in his prime.

Only 165 here. Could just be outdated, although that was after clearing a mission.

I don't see much else working for that one, certainly not by 200. Stun-lock, duh, it works for everything, which'll be nice for the people who don't have it and are now getting the difficulty auto-tuned around it. Maybe Captain America & Loki with anyone who can hurt stuff, even Moonstone, depending where you have levels. Loki is ultra-buffed.

I was tempted at first, but you just know all the hardest fights will be vs him, and at level 69 he's still not great even buffed. I fought him at 70-odd and the tiles were, I think, 81, which is better level for level than unbuffed old Wolvie, but that's already higher than we can go.

Guaranteed Psylocke Heroic Pack please. icon_e_smile.gif
  • Let me add to the general sentiment that 5K iso is the kind of reward many of us wanted after so many weeks of getting covers that we couldn't put to good use. This PvE event might be low on cover rewards, but the tons of available ISO makes up for it in spades.

I have him at 45 and I'm getting 2 46 damage strike tiles per green, which is pretty good when the main strategy is to spidey stun lock them down. I'm guessing max level the strike tiles would be 50-60ish, which might be worth the 10k iso...
  • Spidey + IM40 + BWGS = easy Daken/X/Thug battle.
  • About an hour into this tourney, I had the strangest feeling. Took me a few minutes to identify it.

Fun. I'm having fun again. Who'd have thought.

Trying to figure out the best way to grind this tournament while getting all the iso prizes... I'm guessing I should pace myself to maybe 2 rewards per clear so that i can do 4 "clears" and get everything in both events.

Not as good if you don't have 5 green BWGS

Yep! Grabbed the 5k ISO reward on the regular simulator during lunch, I'll just have to take my chances that the hard mode one will still be at a doable level when I get home. OBW finally from 82 to max and adding levels to my Loki and my classic storm as well. Gonna use the next 5k and the iso along the way to get my 2* Magneto to a playable level, I've been wanting to use him for ages.

I love this event already. Huge variety of enemies and enemy setups, a wide variety of boosted characters (including villians), ISO available so we can actually use more of these characters we've collected instead of being forced to keep using the few characters we've painstakingly maxed...

Of course, Thick as Thieves looked great on day 1 too before we discovered that the enemy levels never re-set and that the points awarded bore no resemblance to the levels that the progression awards were at. But I have more hope for this one.

I think fewer than 10% of the total points are from the Loki-required fights. I don't have Loki either, and I'm currently ranked third in my brackets for both easy and hard, and fifth in my bracket for overall. In fact, I have the sort of roster that people post screencaps of and say, "This person must be cheating!"

In this case, it's not pay to win, it's enter early to win. I'm going to end up doing much better than I deserve to, at least for the first round, just because I got in while the getting was good.
