I like alternating, as long as Hood is offered again eventually. I can apply same methodology from LR--try in one, tank in next.

Apparently tanking doesn't work anymore. MMR is partially determined by the highest level characters in your roster, or something like that.

I mean... please keep giving me free points :]

Almost sure I saw IceIX comment they're planning to alternate LRs weekly, not run Courageous ad nauseam before we see Speed Evil again. Rev up those 15/30 minute shields. Although apparently it's the yellow that's a pain to get in LRs.

Man... disappointed as well to see this one return. I'm guessing we will see another Thor tourney before the No Holds Barred... assuming we get another one of those. Oh well. I guess that means I just get my life back for a couple of days! icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • My Patch is now close to 120, so I'm actually kinda happy to see this one rerun. I got top5 in the last one, hopefully I can repeat that one. Not looking forward to the inevitable Thor re-run, though.

Yay, I hope that future incarnations of this tourney stay the same so that I don't ever have to level patch. This tourney should easily bring spidy up to 3/5/4 with another purple.

Was this ever confirmed in some semi-roundabout way?
  • I know they've explicitly said in PVE it's not based on your char levels. I doubt they'll ever fully disclose the algorithm for pvp, because then we'd just find a work around.

Hello? I want to know this as well. In my tourney brack the dude I couldn't face had a level 100sih Hulk, and I had a level 100 Spiderman, but I couldn't find him as an opponent. So this would explain the pool of people you compete against in leaderboard, but not your per fight rivals.

I am definitely bummed to see this tourney again, since I don't have a high level 2* anymore. I actually skipped the Thor one completely since it was ridiculous to fight a 15k Thor, so I'll def. skip a second. What I want is a new PVE event that's not geared towards taking our HP's. I want to Face Galactus! (Win a Silver Surfer!)

I guess the idea is to let newer players have a feel of Spider-Man for a couple of weeks, dump some ISO/HP into him before pummeling his blue and yellow into the ground.

yeah, they want them to waste iso and HP on him instead of a character that isn't going to be nerfed. Pretty sucky.

With a boosted The Watcher just hanging around. No abilities and no match damage. He's just there.

Sorry to quote myself. I decided to test this and begin this tournament. So instead of fighting with my strong team and crushing the weak seed team, I fought with a lower lvl team. It doesn't seem to have any effect at all though. The first fight defines who is your leaderboard. that's for sure. My weak team immediately got attacked by a team who's leader was a lvl 125 ironman. This is higher than my highest, so this seems based on tournament results (I was top 5) and not on level.

Let the attacks continue and you will eventually face lower level teams.

I wish I could promote a post. A Watcher! Well, why would you want cool Villans, like Thanos, when you have Ares and his Skimpy short punk T-shirt!

Sure, but once I start countering eventually i'll face the lvl >100 teams again. This whole tanking notion seems to carry from tournament to tournament, instead of real time. Otherwise you should play, get rewards, tank, drop to the bottom, then climb back with the easy fights and at the last hour win the tournament and steal the girl.

so far this MMR system seems to be fair, in the sense that the matches are appropriate. I just want to have easy fights at first, and hard ones at the end.

I used to do this strategy, but it isn't very effective. The problem is that when you make the final push with your strong team, many people will still have the weak team saved on their phones (because the game hasn't updated with the strong team yet). This means that as you are making that push, you are going to be hit with retaliations left and right from people that have your weak team saved. While you can fight through these retaliations, it is a lot harder to do so. Note that this is specifically for the LRs since everyone is playing in those 1.5 hours: the strategy works for normal tournaments since the probability of someone having your weak team saved is much lower.
  • Already have Spidey maxed out on covers.

Already have 3 IW covers and think 3/5/5 is optimal build.

Disappointed in rewards offered, but saves me about 400 hp on shields and I can now iso farm with a buffed Batch without any regard for placement.

Hoping to get L92 Patch/L90 Hulk/L83 Punisher all over 100 by the end of this week.

So I faced weak teams right until I got to 280 score. Then I had one good fight, breached the covetted 300 score point, and won myself a useless Hawkeye Cover! YES! It would be literally more cost efficient for them to open up a character store and let us buy any cover at a premium price. You want that Red Hulk Cover you can't seem to earn for the light of you? Only 2500 HP! But I digress.

I am now sitting at around 300 score, 5th place, and no real incentive to push. My spidey is already maxed, and the odds of me finishing first are almost none. I guess I could go for the Thor covers, since I restarted him. he is looking real tough at lvl 7. It's pretty boring stuff though. Not worth facing 2 days of lvl 100+ Patch with Hulk and Spidey Combos.

Welcome to the joys of a high MMR - when tanking was full strength you could go whole tourneys without seeing forum members in your queue (just hit me as sad how we feel compelled to call it a skip queue instead of a fight queue; very instructive). Add to that the growth in forum community population, and it's getting harder and harder to be polite to your fellow forum-goers.

That's probably for the best anyways - I'll still hold off on hitting a forum-goer if I think they're about to cross a prog threshold or the like, but for all forumites to just avoid all other forumites is a little bit too much like collusion for my comfort. I guess I'm saying that we should punch each other in the mouth more often. I think it's beginning to happen naturally - ranking points are too precious and too hard to come by now.
