Look ice, Dave, I just want to let you know it is ok to come out and tell us "Marvel wants us to get Kingpin out before Dare Devil airs on Friday, and they want us to get a bunch of characters out to match what is comming up in the Marvel universe, so we are going to need to release many characters in a row." I am 99% sure this is what is going on, but it feels like you are just releasing them and running for cover waiting for the Forum lashing. A simple announcement that you need to release some specific characters to meet your sponsor obligations goes so far to calm the community. We might not like it, but we would be a lot more on your side.

"We" implies you speak for every single individual on the forum and/or playing the game. You do not. I co-run a full alliance of mostly-IRL friends who've been playing for a year or more and not a single one is anything but excited when a new character is announced, even if they don't necessarily have the roster space for them right now. This game is a ongoing marathon, not a sprint. There's a loud and vocal minority on this forums (which is fine), and expected in any community (whether gaming forum or otherwise), but you're deluding yourself if you think that that opinion is the de facto singular status quo.

(And nobody "ran for cover" here -- Ice hung around to answer more questions about the character's mechanics than I normally would've expected!)
Unfortunately you have completly missed my poin because I had the audacity to use the word "we" on the forum. I said nothing about excitement about a new character. I will bring the point to be more clear. The Devs told the community that they would release a new character every other week and respected the fact that people on the forum felt they were releasing too many characters too fast. Now they are releasing 3 new characters in a row going back on what they told us. I personally don't feel it is there intention to screw the players over and go against there word. From monthly Q and A I believe they have specific obligations to Marvel and to keep there license. I also feel for some they have an awsome forum that they could give more information out. I also know from the Q and A and their posts that people pre-releasing info can be bad for them. By releasing 3 characters in a row I personally feel they knew there was going to be backlash from the forum, look at how ice opend this thread

So, seeing this, you can probably expect what's going to happen next PVE. That being said, this character release will also be followed with the normal week off, so nothing new next week. As well, as always, this is pre-release info, so take that into account for stat-lines
I feel this shows Ice knows there will be backlash, and I personally feel it is because they are obligated to get these characters out by a certain time by Marvel. If this is the case why not just tell us. It does not have to be character specific it could be " based on the success of MPQ marvel has chosen us to encapture more of the Marvel universe. Because of this collaborative effort we will need to release 3 new characters a month instead of the normal 2. We are aware of the strain this puts on our players, but we have confidence things will work out. As of right now we are not planning on changing roster slots prices or hp drops, but we will be monitoring the situation so it does not become too much of a strain on our players."
This is the type of PR statement that I feel would give us more i site into what they have to do and people on th forum might not lash out quite so much with the massiv release of characters. I have been playing this game for 471 days and continue to enjoy the game. It is not about the marathon, or the destination it is about getting a message out before they start getting bombarded by hate mail. I am sorry all you saw was "we" and you feel my opinion is They should not release these character. So if you feel the majority of the community would not appreciate more communication I personally feel you are very mistaken

    Hey Ice or whomever,

There is a tiny typo in quicksilver's bio page. "It's clear is only loyalty" should be "It's clear *his only loyalty".

    Have a great day!

    This is utterly ridiculous.
We're aware that there will be blowback that we'll have to weather, but we have methods to our (supposed) madness. I assure you that our financials are absolutely not a concern at the moment.

LOLOLOLOL! The only METHOD to this madness is the company getting ready to make a lot of money, due to Daredevil on Netflix, and Avengers 2 bringing in THOUSANDS of new players in the very near future.

Saying what you said would make it appear that we, the consumer, would somehow benefit. What a mess.

I too am venting over the insanity of 3 back to back new characters for PvE. This certainly seems difficult to accept considering only those who were top 150 in Iso Brotherhood or were incredibly lucky can manage top 50 to earn Kingpin, to earn the top 150 for Quicksilver.

I just hope that they make earning him a little easier than Kingpin has been. Perhaps increased pull rates from Prodigal Sun tokens, perhaps the following PvE could offer 2 or more Quicksilver Covers as progression rewards?

Khan, King, & Quick better all be featured pretty heavily in the next new PvE.

He's too fast for spell check.
  • Shouldn't a red name or mod have fixed the title by now?

There's too many characters, you expect them to keep up with the pace they're being released at? icon_e_wink.gif

Maybe they're just waiting until they can do 5 or 10 at once. So, by next Tuesday, I guess.

I bet you they'd release the cast of the Avengers Age of Ultron all at once(or one week after another) if they could, lollllll

Meh, the downgrade to just one swap and one critical means that he'll be less of a utility character (swaps that you can choose is really useful) and more of a damage dealer.

Good news that he is already utility-maxed at 1 black and 1 green cover, so deciding which covers to max will probably be based on whether you prefer tile-swapping or critical-tile generating.
  • Awesome, great cover and a character I enjoy. Hope his animations though aren't awful. Oh wait, sorry, i'm supposed to be soul crushed or something.

For whoever puts together the essential reading list, please add X-Factor #87, 'Examinations,' to the list? In about 3 pages, 40 years of character history are explained.

I made an intro video for Quicksilver. I will share a gameplay video soon. I just need to get my nose bleed to stop.

It appears he went from Storm to Beast tier? He honestly looks worse than Beast at this point.

Edit: During Lightning Rounds this morning I missed seed teams and was facing level 150+s off the bat. I was saving my health + kits for my final grind down in PvE and wanted to hit 100 for the ISO so I started fielding my underleveled characters. I had a match where my level 95 Beast cleaned house. Cast blue and got 2x green off and he basically wiped the entire team out with AoE damage (2504 AoE damage for 18 AP +an extra 500 or so to target isn't terrible for a 95). He was somewhat fun to play and if his blue wasn't **** and he had a decent yellow he'd be playable.

I don't see Quicksilver at ALL. What does he have to do with "locking down a tile" He/She has ONE power involving swapping.

Frankly, (No pun intended) Reed Richards makes WAY more sense to me.
    1. Everyone who locks down tiles is a member of the Fantastic Four
    2. Obvious synergy with IW
    3. Lockdown would be equivalent to him wrapping around people in his body (which he does all the time) or possibly using an invention for the explosion.
    4. Quick Silver would most likely cause WAY more shake-up/cascades

Thank you! I was beginning to think I was the only one.

That being said, Scarlett Witch isn't released yet and this build might end up having synergy with her.

Congrats on taking a bad character and making his s***.
  • Too bad. He went from interesting to roster fodder.
  • Eh, he was randomly broken with his old stats, so I can see why they nerfed him. He'd be pretty weak most of the time but if you randomly have 4 bubbles locked in the right place he'd pump out absolutely insane moves. Now I guess these moves are meant to be used after the board has stablized for a while where you can collect enough AP and then wait for 4 tiles to be locked. I'm not sure if that's a good design but creating 2 crit is worth at least 4 random AP in even the worst cases and swap 4 tiles is strictly better than being able to place 2 tiles of any color so that couldn't have stayed at a potential cost of 5 AP.

Hi Wym -- You're absolutely correct, and I'm sorry for my point-missing snap-judgement response. I blame my momentary lapse of civility on having a particularly bad workday and getting a bit too worked-up by some of the more vitriolic posts in this and other threads; but my response to you was uncharacteristically snarky and disrespectful of me, and I apologize.

I do agree 100% with everything you've written there. I wish there was a good deal more -- a.k.a., "any" -- transparency from the devs in terms of upcoming plans.

One thing I'm surprised they haven't yet adopted is their own in-game version's of turul's vague hints on upcoming characters -- having an ongoing list in-game of hints about upcoming characters with star levels and set PVE-starting release dates (say, for the next 4-8 weeks at a time) would be a good start, at least. It would serve the dual purpose of fuelling the hype train while also letting people plan schedules accordingly, if, for example, they wanted to sit out the more annoying PVE grind for a **** character.
