One mission worth more than the entire sub... Working perfectly.
  • There must be a redonkolously gigantic breach between players that can do the missions on this event and those that got stuck in the progression hell after the first subbracket, hence the absolutely ridiculous rubberbanding effects, plus people tanking the PvE event.

    Seriously, just shut it off.

When they fix patch in the next patch (probably before the end of the event) the amount of people that can compete will drop even more.

Ironically, I actually "needed" his purple, so I used one of them.

I have a max cover Bagman. I just applied covers randomly to him though. He's 5/3/5 for me.

Sadly I've dropped down to close to 100. Love me some 230 level everything.

Yeah sucks for the people that can't handle it.

    I have an 85 3/5/5 BWO, a 3/5/4 level 90 something Spidey and a level 59 5/3/5 Patch.

With boosts, these battles sometimes take as a few as 2 turns. They're just incredibly time consuming.

    25 3/4/5 OBW, 55 3/5/5 Punisher, 50 3/3/5 Patch.

Even with boosts I have to have near optimal conditions to win. If I don't get either a set of green or purple match by turn 3 when playing a non magia/hammer then I'm usually done. I refuse to game the system as a work around to a super poorly designed event. The fact that the only response to this fiasco is oh yea its not what we intended. I guess since its free I can't complain too much. I promise I'll spend 20$ a month if they hire a QA team though.
  • Back in #1 after the main mission refresh.

Anybody else know why the hood mission with just him is worth so much, while being SO easy? The missions that are worth 400 points are harder. I'll take the easy 2000 points, but I just found that funny.

My team is less leveled, however still ok against those 230s.

Yeah you don't really need levels. Spiderman is level independent, his ability is his stun. Patch's big ability is his strike tiles and he's mega boosted. BWO benefits from levels but if you have enough covers to trigger espionage, she's all good because that's 2-3k per attack.

You should lose some matches to lower the difficulty. In the main try the "The Meeting IX" mission if you have opened it or another if you haven't and take a bag team for some runs. They will finish you off really quickly so you don't waste much time. Then try again with 3 other heroes. If you have several low health heroes every 10-15 minutes they should be revived for you to try again. The only mission I didn't manage to drop below 200 is the final one with The Hood and Magneto. I hope this will make your life easier.

For the sub (Family reunion) try doing one that either gives you a free hero or one that lets you choose all 3 heroes you want to use. I managed to drop all missions with the exception of the last to less than 100 level. The last for some reason won't drop from 230 even though I lost 20-30 games. So I didn't even bother trying it. I won once in a previous sub, but I am too tired now to try it and pray on the way they don't blast me away in one hit.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot. The team I use is 32 3/3/3 Patch and 82 3/5/5 OBW and one more, usually Iron Man 35 or Thor for some additional damage from yellow. I always do matches with full boosts (+3 all, +3 G/B and the last either +3 B/P or +20% against an enemy). It may cost a little more by I don't want to spend too much time doing tedious missions. Also, the more you delay finishing a game the more risky it becomes to you..

I've noticed that retreating doesn't actually do anything. I have to actually lose. That's awesome. I'm going to have to stop posting on these forums. I'm getting more irritated every time I think about it and I'm not trying write out a rant.

    Ugh...

All this whining is getting annoying.

YES, the tourney is crazy broken.
YES, the devs have admitted its broken.
YES, the devs have said that the event is being pulled after this run because it is so broken.
YES, the devs have said that the only workaround at the moment is to intentionally lose/retreat.

The secret sauce in this event is that the devs attempted to implement a "PvE MMR" system.

Just like a PvP tourney, winning matches earns tourney rating points.
When your rating increases, the MMR system attempt to match you with appropriately rated PvE opponents.
Thus, if you keep winning, your tourney rating will reach extremely high levels, which in turn will lead to extremely high level opponents.
As the system is based on PvP, the only way to lose rating points is to either lose to an encounter or retreat/yield.

Using hypothetical numbers (as the actual numbers are hidden),

If you have 0 rating points, then the base mobs are 17-20 and the highest premium encounter is level 40.
If you have 2000+ rating points, then all of the encounters are level 200+.

If you are familiar with how little point deduction occurs when you intentionally yield a PvP fight, then you can understand that it could easily take 50+ retreats to bring you rating back down to a meaningful level, or back to 0. Whether or not a larger point deduction occurs on a total wipe is unknown. If the logic holds that the game is tossing equivalently rated encounters at you, the game probably thinks that a 200+ encounter is worth 25 rating points (in a PvP match).

YES, this sucks royally, but this is how the current event logic is playing out in Thick as Thieves.
  • So far rubberband has always capped at 10X the base value of the mission.

From my testing, dying is roughly equally as effective as retreating. Since neither is guaranteed to actually lower the level (lag? randomness?) you might see bigger variations when dying instead of retreating 4 times.

The fastest way to get high level characters killed is fight anything with high level Muscles. One Tommy Gun should finish your team off quite easily. Crime Boss is a good place to get lower level characters killed.
  • Ok so I just came back after like a 12 hour hibernation. Damn this infection. Lol

Sitting at #1 in both brackets after a 3 hour grind. Finished every mission twice, am I losing my mind or were the last 3-4 repeatable 3 times? Set up perfectly for a 4.5 hour grind later, assuming everything happens at the same speed. I'm set to complete sub bracket missions. Then move on to main bracket missions with 5-10 minutes to spare before the sub ends and possibly a new set of missions opens up ready to fall right into cycle after the main bracket missions.

Really happy about appearances from The Hood and Magneto. I almost made a thread about hood being on the picture but not in any missions. Decided not to obviously but at least he appeared!
  • Yes there appeared to be something weird for me, some of the missions were repeatable more than twice. But I could be misremembering since there are so many of them.

I can actually confirm I did Family Reunion VII 3 times. I got points for it every time and I'm rewards complete.
